What generation's Elite Four had the best set of trainers, not counting the Champion? I like Unova's the most; I found Gen V's had the hardest challenge. Each of them had a unique character design and the four as a group -coupled with that awesome music- just gave off an intimidating yet eccentric aura. Also their room designs and how they "appeared" on the battlefield (Caitlin's was my favorite) were quite imaginative.

Glad to be the first one who answer you my best friend. I do agree with you for Black, and White, and I do love them. I also choose the one in Sinnoh, and Alola

I like the Alola Elite 4 because two of the members are kahunas and one of them is a trial captain. It makes them appear to have grown and have trained hard.

Unova lol, it's not even a contest. They were the toughest, had the best battle music and an unusual mix of interesting type specialties, had cool arenas, and I think they had slightly more memorable personalities as well (relative to their small amount of screentime). The novelist, the gambler, the ex-Frontier Brain with unstable psychic powers, and the student of Alder. It just stands out a bit more than "here's a chap, and here's what type they like."

Mind you, I love the extravagant presentation of the Kalos Elite Four's respective chambers, and their type distribution is mostly quite pleasantly unique (well, sans there being yet another Dragon specialist). Unfortunately, only two of the four stand out in terms of personality for me (those being Malva and Siebold), and their teams are kind of pathetic, especially without any post-game upgrade.

I'm a sucker for Hoenn. Sapphire was my first Pokemon game, and I remember how epic it was, even when I got beat down multiple times by Drake (who is probably my favorite E4 member ever, along with Lorelei). So yeah, Hoenn's E4 is my favorite. My next favorite is probably Kanto or Alola.

I agree that Kalos's E4 had the best presentation. Amazing aesthetic and design. But the battles were far too underwhelming.

aesthetically i think hoenn and kanto's e4 members are the coolest. lorelei/agatha/bruno/lance were all super cool-looking imo. i think hoenn's gym leaders were also interesting; i think they had much stronger personalities, which made them a bit more compelling as characters. kalos' trainers were presented well, but the battles themselves were so forgettable that i genuinely didn't remember anyone except siebold before looking them up

in terms of difficulty i thought dp's elite four was by far the hardest. i don't think there's any real competition.

I'm torn between Unova because it's my fave Gen and I just like all their character designs, and Sinnoh because there's a Bug-type Elite Four member.

This wa tough for me. I've always loved the characters in the Johto E4, especially seeing how the returning ones have grown, and the new ones are interesting too. Hoenn has a special nostalgic feel to me. Despite Unova being the region that introduced the boring 4-member teams and choosing your own order (which takes away some of the growing sense of tension as you go along), I adore their character designs, personalities, and teams. Plus, as mentioned above, their rooms were spectacularly designed.

But I'm going to have to give this one to the Alola E4. I love how they drew from prominent characters you'd already met (except for Kahili but she's cool anyway) and it was so exciting going through each room unspoiled seeing who the next old face would be. They were also challenging without being frustratingly difficult and had fun, diverse teams.

Is this even up to discussion? Indigo, Evergrande, and Sinnoh peeps are all pretty much generic with the exception of Phoebe, who is'nt much... ghost-like either. Alola league is all characters you've already met in the Alola story except the generic Kahili and generic-ish Ryuki if you count title challengers. This leaves Kalos and Unova.

Ghost\Fighting\Dark\Psychic\Bug VS Fire\Water\Steel\Dragon\Psychic. I think that as a team, if they have to fight together, the Unova League covers more types of fight, natures, and elements, in a way. And they fit together better moreso than Kalos.

Kalos league member themes are journalist, cook, knight, shaman\witch doctor, and actress. Malva, Siebold, and Diantha are generic enough to be any type, while Wikstrom and Drasna are also slightly generic designs.

Not only Unova brings Caitlin back (and is the only League to bring a character back from another gen, not counting Indigo) but introduces a fantastic trio of League members that seem to have been friends forever. Not only Shauntal, Grimsley, and Marshal seem like grown up, cynical versions of the pseudorival, main character, and rival roles, but their types represent something that makes unity. Fighting = physical strenght. Dark = cunning and capability to do evil. Ghost = soul. Together they make the things to be a great warrior, and even more so if you include smarts from Cait's psychic types. In fact the Unova elite four is also called the warriors. Alder would represent instinct and Iris would represent willpower. Their respective personalities also match that.

"Words are engraved on the statue:
Four great warriors form this Pokémon League.
To the southwest is one who does not fear the Ghost type.
To the southeast is one who channels the power of the Fighting type.
To the northwest is one who has mastered the Dark type.
To the northeast is one who knows the mind of the Psychic type.
If you can defeat these warriors with your courage and wisdom, you shall be led to the summit, where the strongest Champion awaits."

The Warriors... it's like that Shauntal, Marshal, Grimsley, and Caitlin not only embody their types perfectly unlike the other Elite 4 from other leagues, but that this is'nt a complete coincidence. It's like the four of them defeated something together (Guzzlord?) and thus they were given those titles, and that is why they became Elite 4 together. I also think that Grimsley, Marshal, and Shauntal were propably Gym Leaders at one point, so maybe those three were promoted from trainer to Gym Leader and Caitlin from Frontier Brain to Elite Four at around the same time, and I also think they would have matching titles as Gym Leaders.

"Gym Leader Shauntal of the Striaton City Gym - The great warrior who does not fear the Ghost type!"
"Gym Leader Marshal of the Aspertia City Gym - The great warrior who channels the power of the Fighting type!"
"Gym Leader Grimsley of the Icirrus City Gym - The great warrior who has mastered the Dark type!"

And Caitlin helped them in the war they were warriors of, so she got a matching title too!

Kalos. Here’s why.

So when I first got X, I couldn’t beat the E4. Siebold was the one messing me up. And he was the one I agreed with the most about Pokemon battles and cooking being art. I still agree with that.

But aside from that piece of trivia, they use the unique Kalos Pokemon and it fits with their theme. Wikistrom is like a knight so Aegislash makes sense, as Siebold is a chef he would use Barbaracle to catch fish Pokemon to cook, the wings in the Dragonmark chamber seem to be the same as Noivern’s so Drasna would have one, and Pyroar was used by another Team Flare member, Lysandre, so a high-ranking member of Flare like Malva would also use a Pyroar.

While I like all of them for their uniqueness, I always feel that the Unova Elite Four members are fleshed out pretty decently and find them a little more interesting than the others so...

Also, I am a big fan of Generation V as a whole and White 2 is the latest game I have played, so maybe that helps! :D;)

The Unova elite 4 is my favorite. They had interesting designs, the music was great, and I like how they had types that were super-effective against each other so there was kind of a theme. I also like the Sinnoh elite 4 a lot because they were tough and most of the types they used were pretty unique for elite 4 members.

Yeah I don't think that was even in question. I don't think any E4 can top Unova E4.

Except an E4 of four characters who you met a lot during your journey and seem to be BFF with each other and help you while helping each other. Basically, give the usual Champion storyline role to the Elite 4. And have them be like, always together, or you meet each of them close enough in the journey. It can be anything from a cameo to give you a HM\Ride Pokémon, to a double battle VS the evil team leader and an evil team admin, to battling them while they're using their civilian teams.

Unova, hands down. Not only did they have unique themes and more interesting characters, but each type could act like a balance to help the others. Facing the Psychic-type E4? Eat Dark... oh, wait, that can be countered by the Fighting-type E4 member. Try to counter Fighting-types with Psychic and get a face-full of Ghost, and so on and so forth. They all acted as a form of balance to eact others, meaning you had to be pretty creative and have a diverse team to avoid getting wiped out. Plus their music was the most intense and interesting. The battlegrounds for each were very diverse and unique, and they were very tough nuts to crack in battle. Even though they, unfortunately, started the trend of E4 members having 4 Pokemon each (which, thankfully, ORAS broke), those 4 members could give you hell if you thought it would be easy. So Unova wins this round.

Second place goes to Alola due to the fact you really got to know the members of the E4 and see their character in full... except the Flying-type golfer, who came out of nowhere. Their teams were good and strong, but could be more easily countered. So Unova gets the gold medal.

I still feel really bad for Grimsley; he seemed to be pretty on the up-and-up in Gen V, but something messed him up by the time we meet his Gen VII counterpart. Poor guy probably fell off the wagon and got addicted to gambling again.

But yeah, I think him and Aaron are my fave E4 members.
