Remember how in D/P1 Dawn fantasized herself in many different outfits:

Look:

I mean, what the hell happened as we went on? I remember when D/P first started in Japan it seemed like Dawn was going to constantly be wearing different dresses/outfits in each of her Contests. One of few things that were suppose to differentiate the so-called "Super-Contests" of Sinnoh was the dress-up and pokeball seals.

However in every contest Dawn's been wearing the same pink dress, and outside of that cheerleader outfit she sometimes wears, all these other dresses never appeared in the show during an actual Contest.

I actually would have liked to see that magician tux appear in a Contest, but oh well.

I wonder that too lawl. Dawn's current contest outfit is so ugly so I almost can't stand watching it.

Generally speaking I don't like this "you must dress up for contests in Sinnoh" concept at all. They look uglier than normal and it just turns out to be kinda corny in the end.

Both May and Dawn look 100% better in their regular outfits than in their contest ones.

If you remember the first episode, Hikari's mom said she didn't need to take so many clothes and only had Hikari take the basic necessities. I'm not sure how she fits a dress in there, but who knows how Takeshi fits so much in his pack.

May's contest outfit was absolutly cute but I don't like Dawn's...I suppose she's staying with the same contest outfit the same reason she always wears the everyday outfit - it's what she wears in the games. Dawn wore that white outfit in the episode with Lopunny, as well, I suppose.

Well, Dawn's not the only one that wears the same outfit every contest. I think Zoey was the only one that changed her outfit so far...correct me if I'm wrong anyone.

Anyways, I do agree though, Dawn's outfit is kind of dull-looking. I too would've preferred to see her wear that magician-type suit thing. :p

Well, you never know. The outfits that Dawn had on in her daydream from DP01 may pop up someday. They all looked so nice...

She had other contest outfits?

I think the contest outfits from DP001 were a product of her overactive imagination... Or she wasn't allowed to take them.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing her do a contest in that sweet Gothic Lolita getup she wore in the end credits of the Darkrai movie.

But that's not going to happen... sigh...

Yeah that and in the games you only get one dress too (if female)

Yeah, I was kinda looking forward to Dawn wearing all these different outfits in the Contests. XD Maybe she could have had a different outfit for every one of her Pokémon...

The tease about this during the Movie 10 credits both excited and saddens me because it shows they really did have this idea, but decided they didn't want to do it in the main series. Lame. :eek:

Also, let me take this opportunity to randomly express how much I want to see Lucas in his Contest tux in the anime.

I think a neat solution to the whole "it's unrealistic for Hikari to be traveling around with so many dresses" thing is to have rental dresses/suits that Coordinators can wear at each Contest Hall. Kind of like how, in the Lucario movie, Satoshi and everyone else got to borrow whatever clothes they wanted for that big festival they all attended. That way, Hikari wouldn't be stuck wearing the same old dress for every Contest but, at the same time, wouldn't have to lug around a big ol' suitcase full of dresses, either.

But that requires effort on the part of the animators D:

Not to mention how in the new Japanese ending themes, they put her in like three different dresses that never appear in the actual show.

Maybe its too much work for them to animate?

I am so sick of that pink thingy. ;___;

I never liked it past the first episode she wore it in-and then it just kept on appearing. I really do think that Dawn looked better in just about everything she wore, srsly. I think she'd look better with a baggy, smelly t-shirt than that dress (though that's mostly 'cause I'm sick of it) and I really think she should go for something different.

Hell, it doesn't have to be complex, I'm sure that there's loads of dresses easier to animate than that pink one, but I really think the animators are getting lazy.

We can always hope, though? ;_;

Or give her the dress her D/P manga counterpart wears, the OTHER nice Gothic Lolita getup...

Aforementioned Movie 10 outfit.

Forget it. I had hopes when the Contests were starting maybe the anime would finally show a little love to Lolita fashion, but so far we've been shafted... DAMMIT, ANIMATORS. You have a chance to make me like her, and you phail miserably.

Well the preview to the next Contest ep is up, and Dawn is still wearing the same exact pink dress. Her hairstyle is changed a bit though, so I guess the writers will just change her hair instead of her dress.

I guess she'll be wearing that same pink dress for all of Sinnoh now. Oh well. It probably wouldn't be so bad if the writers didn't put her in different outfits in the endings. :/

It's a darn shame we couldn't get some dress-fanservice (...rofl) in the very contests, but I am pleased that we at least get varieties in the endings. I mean, they could have had Dawn wear *only* that pink dress no matter what, so I really am grateful the endings vary what she wears.

I do believe that it's Dawn's mother's fault since she deliberately told Dawn not to bring more than what's just necessary which limits it to just one dress.
One could hope that, if not for any contests, then at least for the Grand Festival that Dawn's mother sends her a new dress to wear by then.
*scratches head*
But that may just be wishful thinking from the looks of it all.
