The Channelers and Kindlers, the in-game characters. Channelers were exclusive to Kanto, nd Kindlers to Hoenn, but I mean to ask- what has become of them? Basically every other trainer class I can think of is in the next generation.

I can imagine Nintendo cutting the Channelers, considering they're women who become posessed by ghosts, I mean, just look at their lines-

"Zombiees!"
"Give... Me... Blood..."
"Sorry, I was posessed!"

and flat out

"EEEEEEAAAUUGHH!"

But what about the kindlers? Is there any rhyme or reason behind why these trainers mysteriously vanish from regions in which they would be appropriate? (Sinnoh Tower, Fantina's Gym, ect.) (Battle Tower, Fire Place, ect.)

If you don't remember them, here are their sprites

Maybe it has something to do with their locations. Maybe Channlers' are a Kanto based trainer group, while Kindlers' are a Hoenn based group.

Similar to how Cool Trainers are Ace Trainers in Shinoh.

Don't forget Sages, Teachers, Firebreathers, Hex Maniancs, Bug Manciacs and Mediums.
Pumpkin, I don't think your explaination really pans out -- Kanto was in GSC, but the Channelers seemed to have been shafted in favour of Mediums.

Maybe, the classes are just unpopular..Or,Channelers changes to Mediums.

I think it's a similar though less obnoxious case of the "gamer" class. They felt it was inappropriate for children. It kind of is... the stuff they said was pretty creepy.

several classes have gotten cut. In the end, they're jsut a trainer that is going down. I don't exactly focus on who I fight, so long as I can defeat them.

Also sinnoh doesn't have a place for gohsts anymore were trainers also come. No trainer is in the mansion.

Sleet got my point about the Channelers, I feel it's too bad they cut them out. After all, a small minority of players are evn children as opposed to teens and young adults.

But are there any Sinnoh exclusive trainer classes?

Well, we have the Ranchers and Cowgirls at the moment -- whether they stay or go will only be revealed when the next gen comes out

It's probably for what everyone else was saying - the Channelers weren't appropriate for kids, they probably didn't fit in with the other regions, and they've probably been replaced with the Mediums. RBGY introduced them, and GSC didn't have a place for them. RSE had kindlers, and DPPt had the Mediums.

Weren't appropiate for kids? So we can have someone who's trying to wipe out the universe but not someone with a ghost in them?

Yea. Or,someone telling you to kill yourself in the MD series. Or,an antidote in a garbage can,in a haunted house. Along with a mafia,a cult, and a terroist group?

Yes,Pokemon is so family friendly.

I think some classes are for one region,or two regions in the second generations case, only.

I see... Well I wish Nintendo would allow Channelers to come back, and loosen up with their policies.

Again, it's not okay to have a monk in a praying stance, a Medium with Buddhist beads, but it is okay to have exorcists for one generation then cut them because they feel it's inappropriate.

But the manga allows voodoo, yet cuts "nudity"?

Ah, that's our franchise. I miss the Channelers. They were one of my favorite trainer classes.

Well, I just feel like I need to know. I need to know everything. But if someone already found out if it IS censorship, it'd be on Bulbapedia, no?

Considering the locations of all the Mediums in GSC (two in Ecruteak Gym and a few in Saffron Gym), I think it's pretty safe to say that they were what Channelers became. Both are pretty much synonymous anyway.

Kindlers were basically just Gen 3 Firebreathers.

But the kindlers use Fire and Water types. Fire to kindle, Water to douse.

There's a lot of unused trainer classes from previous generations. If they're trainer class seems out of place in the game's setting, then why put them in?

Channelers were in Kanto because the spirits in Pokemon Tower were restless, and we can assume they were there to try and calm them down.

Now in Gen II, we had mediums and sages to fit with Johto's more religious overtones. Why bother putting in channelers when you have mediums to fit their role (though if I recall they were the same trainer class in japan, not sure though)

Then in Gen III we have Hex maniacs in Mt. Pyre, basically little girls who liked to hang around cemeteries. They could have used channelers, but there weren't any restless spirits. Besides, having a channeler getting possessed in RBY makes sense, since they do channel the spirits of pokemon.

Yeah, basically to advertise the whole Magma and Aqua duality of the game. Sure Groudon was a ground type, but it lived in a volcano and its ability strengthens fire types

And since we have a fire specialist (sort of), fire breathers weren't in the game.

EDIT: okay, Channelers were Shaman in Japan and Mediums were still Mediums. Well, it makes the distinction a bit larger in terms of what they do.
