The 3rd Starter: Book One
Chapter 1: Charmander and Squirtle

I guess I should start my story from the beginning. I guess I should even tell you who I am before I begin. Remember back when Charmander, Squirtle and I were you three first Pokémon? My tale starts then. I was just an egg….

I could hear noises, very faint, but recognizable words. “Professor, Saur just laid an egg, would you like it? Ok, I’ll send it to you,” was all I could hear. Then I felt movement and then it all stopped. I sat there, without moving for months, then came the day, the day I hatched. I moved around a little then tackled my shell wall. I repeated that progress until it broke. I climbed out of the hole and stood there, on a table. A human, in a white lab coat rushed over to me.

“Hello little guy, welcome to this world. You are in luck, tomorrow new trainers are coming. Your journey will begin then,” was what he said. He then lifted a red and white sphere, pointed it at me and I disappeared. I was floating to the ground, a field with grass, sand, water and hills. There were creatures all around me, big and small. I recognized these creatures as Pokémon, like myself, but different forms. They were all over. As I touched the ground, a Pink creature with a shell on its head walked over. This creature was a Slowking, don’t ask me how I know this, but I just do.

“Little one, you look young. Did you just come from the professor’s newest egg?” He asked. I nodded and he pointed to two other Pokémon. One was a red lizard with a flaming tail and a small blue turtle. They were talking and playing, tackling and scratching each other. “Go talk to them, they could be your closest companions through your new journey,” The Slowking said. He walked away, leaving me there. I considered what I wanted to do, then realizing I had no choice, walked over. The two were sitting down, eating a blue looking berry. I came until I was about five feet away.

“H-H-Hello,” I said. The two stopped talking and looked at me. The turtle stood up.

“Hello, I’m Squirtle, and this is Charmander. We are the other two starters, other than you,” He said. I looked at Charmander and he waved. Charmander then handed me a blue berry from a pile they had.

“Sit and I’ll explain the whole starter and new adventure thing,” Charmander said. I sat and Charmander explained the whole thing in about an hour. I couldn’t believe it; I was fascinated with knowing that I will make a lot of new friends in my life. After that we played for a long time, mainly practicing Pokémon battles even though the attacks didn’t hurt each other here. After awhile, we all got tired and fell asleep. Who knew what surprises would await us the next day….

Oh, interesting concept! Chapter one has me wanting more, and I'm sure you'll deliver.
I'll be reading!

Re: What Happened To The Third Starter: Book One

Interesting concept, as Trouble said. I'll be watching this.

Re: What Happened To The Third Starter: Book One

I agree. I can't recall seeing a pokemon starter POV fic done here before. Pretty original concept. I'll give better review once you post more chapters and I can get a better idea. But so far, so good.

Re: What Happened To The Third Starter: Book One

thanks to all the feedback! Its really appreciated.

Chapter 2: My new trainer

That morning, all the Pokémon that had been roaming the land the day before had Squirtle, Charmander and I stand on a rock. They all circled around us, waiting to see who went when. “You two ready for this?” I asked. We were in a circle, looking at each other. Charmander nodded.

“I’m going to miss you guys,” Squirtle said. Tears started falling down his cheeks and he hugged us. I gave the best hug I could with my vines and then realized I was crying too. I could hear sniffles and Charmander was crying.

“W-w-we will still see each other and be friends, right guys?” Charmander said. We nodded in agreement and stepped back.

The next thing seemed to happen all at once. Gasps came from the crowd and Charmander began to float up into the sky. In the sky we could see the face of a boy, even though he couldn’t see us. He was wearing a hat and smiling. Charmander whispered goodbye as he reached about halfway, he was slowly going up until then, which then he shot up at incredible speed. Squirtle and I stood there, only being able to watch.

I then looked into the sky again, and the face of a different boy appeared. He had brown hair and a necklace. Squirtle began to rise in the same fashion Charmander did. He smiled and zoomed off into the sky. I stood looking at the crowd.

After a few hours of waiting, only Slowking and a Tauros remained. After a couple more minutes, Tauros left. Finally I felt weird, and then I realized I was floating up. “Good luck young one!” Slowking yelled to me. I looked up and saw a girl with brown hair that came down from a white hat. When I finally emerged completely, she laughed and ran over to me. She picked me up and hugged me. It felt good to have a nice trainer. “Good Bulbasaur, good Bulbasaur,” She said. “My name’s Green”. She continued this until the man with the white coat walked over and handed her some stuff.

Then she pointed another pokeball at me and I went inside, doing the opposite order of going out. I landed in an area like the last, but I was the only one there. “Hello, Hellllo?” I yelled. I searched for a while but couldn’t find anyone. I felt lonely, and there was no face in the sky anymore. It was lonely.

Finally, I started to rise again and popped outside of the pokeball. This time though, there was a purple rat, called Rattata, in front of me. My trainer, Green said tackle and I knew what to do. I ran forward, the Rattata doing the same. We would’ve crashed our heads and both fainted, but I tripped, and rolled into the Rattata. He fell down, weak, but didn’t faint. I felt angry that he didn’t faint, so I ran towards him again and knocked him out. Green cheered and threw a pokeball at the Rattata. It disappeared inside and the ball shook three times and stopped. “Bulbasaur, we did it!” Green yelled and ran over to me. I was a little dizzy, but knew that the pokeball wouldn’t be as lonely any more.

“I’d let him out, but he fainted, you get inside you pokeball and ill run both of you to the pokecenter,” She said. I went inside the sphere again, but this time that Rattata was lying in the grass. I walked over to it and smiled.

“Hi, I’m Bulbasaur,” I said. The Rattata smiled.

“I’m Rattata, I like how if we fainted outside of a pokeball, were fine in here,” He said. The first thought that came to my mind was, we need some actual names.

“Sorry about making you faint,” I said and blushed. I was embarrassed on how my anxiousness made him faint.

“No problem bro, I’ve actually wanted to have a trainer for a while. That’s why I used tackle instead of my usual attack that does more damage. It’s called Quick Attack, watch,” He said. He took off running, going really fast.

“Wow,” I mumbled. He returned, without even breaking a sweat. He smiled. Then something strange happened, we were both lifted into the air, and I felt way better all of a sudden, and then was dropped. “Cool!” I exclaimed.

“That felt good,” Rattata agreed. We both went back to where we were before we were lifted up. “So what are we going to do while we wait?” Rattata asked. His question was answered pretty quickly. We both flew out of the pokeball. We looked at green, then each other, then across from us. My eyes widened when I saw who was over there “Charmander! Squirtle!” I yelled. Rattata looked at me.

“Who are they?” Rattata asked. I smiled.

“Let’s say their old friends that like to battle, give them you best,” was my answer.

“You ready?” Charmander yelled. Squirtle laughed.

“Let’s make it a fight to remember,” Squirtle said.

“BATTLE!” All four Pokémon and trainers said in unison.

oops, srry bout that, its almost midnight and i cant think straight.

EDIT: Fixed

Re: What Happened To The Third Starter: Book One

From what I can see so far, this fanfic seems very original. I like the way you've gone with a Pokémon's POV here, rather than the trainer's. The grammar and spelling is pretty accurate as well. Keep it up!

Re: What Happened To The Third Starter: Book One

does it seem like im posting these too fast. im on a writing spree right now.

Chapter 3: The first Official Battle

There I was, adrenaline flying through my veins. I was ready to make this a fight to remember. Rattata, or Fang as Green called him, was ready to. “Bulb use tackle on Squirtle! Fang, Quick use attack on Charmander!” Green yelled.

I ran forward, Fang starting behind me and eventually catching up and getting ahead of me. The strike seemed to happen in slow motion. Fang crashed into Charmander right as he brought his claw down for a scratch. Then when I hit Squirtle he went into his shell, making it go flying. He popped out right in mid air and hit a tree.

There all four of us lay hurt but not willing to get up. I was first to rise, followed by Charmander. We both ran to our teammates, checking for injuries. I ran to flame and it struck me, Squirtle and Fang had both fainted.

Charmander and I looked at each other. “Charmander ember!” his trainer, red commanded. Charmander shot flames at me and I was hit, but somehow I stayed up, and on fire. As a flaming ball, I used tackle on Charmander. He flew back and the flames on me disappeared. Both of us stood, weak.

I thought I saw something on my left and noticed something bad. Squirtle had gotten up and was charging for me with a scratch ready, Charmander did the same on my right. As they neared, I knew that I would lose this battle. Then I heard a shout from behind.

“I’ll take part of the blow! Try to stay up! Prepare for tackle!” Fang yelled. He ran up to my right and got into a tackle position. I knew what we had to do; I followed Fangs lead and went back to back in a tackle position. Right as the Pokémon hit, we used tackle. The last thing I remember of that battle is seeing everyone fall, and then waking up in my pokeball next to Fang.

I stood up, feeling better now that I was in my pokeball. Fang stood up too, and I looked at him. “Who won?” I asked Fang.

“From what I saw, I thought it was a tie,” Fang answered. He smiled. “At least it wasn’t a loss,” He continued. I then realized that we were getting picked up. This time it was to be healed.

“Ah I feel better,” I said. We were floating back down to the ground. Fang nodded in agreement.

“I wonder what master will have us do next.” Fang wondered. I was wondering too. Would we get a new teammate, would we train, what. I needed answers, but it was getting Dark. “We better make a shelter,” Fang said. I agreed and went to work in the forest for supplies. While I was in there, I felt lonely without Fang or Green. I knew I couldn’t quit though.

After a while of gathering, we made a little shack like thing. It had two beds I wove from leaves and vines. The wood was cut from Fangs large teeth. We both fell asleep almost right when we hit the beds.

The Next Morning……

I awoke at dawn, but Fang was still asleep. I walked out of our shelter and looked around. Not much was there, so I went into the forest to look for those blue berries, Oran Berries as Charmander called them. As I was looking around, I found a tree that was full of them. I picked about 20 of them, I can’t remember how many exactly though. When I got back Fang was awake.

“Hey where were you I was looking?” Fang asked.

“I was out getting these berries,” I said and dropped the pile. I never thought I could see that purple rat run that fast. Two were gone before I could blink.

“Yum,” Fang said. He was already eating his fifth. “So gat do goo tank master will cake us do text,” he asked, a berry in his mouth.

“I don’t know,” I said. I have a feeling that this place will have more people soon though, I thought…..

the ideas are flowin :lol::flinch::kawaii::expect:

Re: What Happened To The Third Starter: Book One

Quite a short battle, but it was still quite exciting.

You missed out some commas and question marks, for example at the start. You put a comma with Fang's command but missed one out on Bulb's command. Also, when Fang asked where Bulb had been, I think there should have been a question mark after "where were you".

Re: What Happened To The Third Starter: Book One

This is by FAR my favourite fanfic i've read
Good job but their are 4 pokemon & only 3 trainers? I don't get it...
IM me when chapter four is up!

Re: What Happened To The Third Starter: Book One

Chapter 4: A New Friend

Before I began the next part in my tale, let me say this, my gut instinct was right! I told you so! Okay, now that that is out of my system, the story will begin.

There we sat, munching on Oran berries and talking. We had not a worry in the world.
<Hey! Are you talking about me yet? I want to be in the story.>

“Not yet Mu- no one. Be quiet and wait!” Sorry about that, someone is impatient.

Just then I had a funny feeling. I then realized Fang was shrinking, no, I was rising. Fang waved as I flew up and shot out. Like always, the first thing I saw was Green. Next, was a trainer with a net? Wait, what trainer carries a net?

“You ready bulb?” Green asked me. I then realized that this was a battle, and noticed the green thing staring at me. It looked like what you humans call a “caterpillar”, but it had a red arrow like thing coming out of its head. I recognized it as a Caterpie.

“Caterpie! Use string shot followed by a tackle!” The trainer yelled. The Caterpie opened its mouth and shot silk that wrapped around me. After I was tied so hard that I couldn’t budge, it ran at me. I could feel it coming….

“OW!” I yelled out when the attack hit. I then realized something, that didn’t hurt, I just expected it to. After realizing it, I continued to act like I was hurt. The Caterpie kept tackling me, which fell into my plan. After about five tackles, the Caterpie was getting tired and I could feel the string breaking. Right as the Caterpie hit me the sixth time, I used tackle. The ropes broke and I hit him right in the head. The bad side, I hit his head with my head.

“Caterpie, no!”The trainer yelled. He returned the now fainted Caterpie to his pokeball. Green pointed a pokeball at me and the red beam shot out. As I was falling to the ground, Fang was floating up.

“Watch the skies,” Fang said as he passed. I didn’t understand at first, so I just lay on my back and watched. Then, I could see fang fighting a brown insect. By all looks, it looked like a-

<Hey, kids will read this!>

Oops, well anyway, you get my point. Fang used a quick attack on the bug, knocking him out. The next thing I saw was Fang floating back to the ground. He smiled when he could see me.

“Ha! He was weak,” He said. Fang touched the ground.

“So I wonder what our next friend will be,” I said. Fang gave me the I don’t know look. Our question was somewhat answered next.

I began to rise again, and I was mad, one battle after another. When I came out though, there was no trainer, just a Mankey. I then knew why I was called upon, that Mankey was part fighting so I could defeat Fang. I was ready now though.

The Mankey ran forward, Jumped and kicked me. I rolled backwards from the hit. He was strong. I ran forward ready for a tackle when I realized my vines were growing. They slowly slithered out of my bulb. I wacked the Mankey as hard as possible with my vine. He rolled and then took off running. He was headed to Viridian forest. I ran after him, determined to please Green. If I did, maybe she would let me outside of my Pokeball some more.

We ran into the forest, I jumping over the Rattata that the Mankey just karate chopped.

When we entered the forest, the Mankey climbed the first tree we saw and I used my vines to follow. They were working well for the situation. The next thing I knew we were swinging from tree to tree. Man I loved my vines.

Finally, I caught the Mankey and we both plummeted to the ground. We landed with a thud. the battle was on....

I ran forward for a tackle, the Mankey doing the same but with a fist raised. I collided into his stomach as his hand hit my bulb. I fell to my knees, with the Mankey rolling over the top of me. It didn't take long for either of us to get up.

Before we could think, he was flying at me with a foot ahead of him an my vines flying at him. He kicked one vine but I grabbed him with the other. I slammed him to the ground but he just jumped right back up. Again he flew at me with his foot, but I ducked and he slammed the tree. He fell, but luck for him has it that an Oran berry fell into his mouth. He jumped back up again and ran towards me. I tried to duck, but he caught me. I was slammed into the ground numerous times before he left.

Which the only reason he had left was because he began to get entangled with a string. A Caterpie jumped out of the bush and continued to wrap him. once the Mankey couldn't move, the string stopped coming. That was when i realized the Caterpie was a girl.

"Ha, what's a Bulbasaur like you getting rescued by a girl for?" She asked, laughing. I was mad until I heard Green's voice.

"Bulb there you are! I was looking for you. You got the Mankey, good boy," she said. I then looked for the Caterpie, but she had left.

A Pokeball was thrown at the Mankey and he was Captured. Green smiled and looked at me. "How would you like to walk outside of you Pokeball while we go through the forest?" She asked. I nodded really quick. this day was going great....

Re: What Happened To The Third Starter: Book One:Chapter 4 is up!!

Its interesting. I've never read a fic from a pokemon's angle before. So far bulb has only been brought out for trainer battles or catching pokemon. I'd like to see a different kind of interaction. Training? I don't know:yahoo: Its good so far and definitely has potential.

Re: What Happened To The Third Starter: Book One:Chapter 4 is up!!

Another good chapter churned out. May I ask who the <person> is though?

Re: What Happened To The Third Starter: Book One:Chapter 4 is up!!

Re: What Happened To The Third Starter: Book One:Chapter 4 is up!!

I'm finally rating this one, Landog! Five stars from me. I'm thoroughly impressed with your ideas!

Re: What Happened To The Third Starter: Book One:Chapter 4 is up!!

Thank you!

Re: What Happened To The Third Starter: Book One:Chapter 4 is up!!

Good job! It's a bit weird that Green just sat back & let bulbasaur do all the work but that's ok ^^
It's good but rattata would get angry with no one to talk to except an angry monkey :p
