when every spot in every box on the PC is full, what happens when you try to catch a pokemon?

does it let you catch it and then make you release it, or does it not let you throw a poke ball in the first place...? this is keeping me awake at night.

This is keeping me awake during my daydreaming time. I am close to filling all of my boxes. AAAaargh...

In which game? I know that in blue, it won't let you throw a pokeball if the current box is full. Which can be really annoying if, say, you've just got to Moltres or whoever and don't realise you're out of space...

well, i'm wondering about all generations. now that i know about generation I, i can take a nap.

I'd assume in generation II would happen the same, not letting you catch it, becouse you can call Bill to check how full the current box is.

However in post-advance generations, the pokemon are put in any avabiable box right?

Anyways I guess it'd bring up a symilar message... but with ~500 different pokemon in DP, it'd be easier to fill it if someone was going to catch all of them...

I assume they'll expand the PC size eventually.

hmm... I'd like to know this too. I have 4 boxes completly full in pearl and another one nearly full, not there yet, but getting there.

I know if a box becomes full in D/P the pokemon is just put in the next available box. I named all my boxes after types so I have full: Other, Normal, Grass and Water so far and close to having my hard box full too (it has rock and steel pokemon in it).

Sadly I don't have Pokesav or any other cheating device. Danmmit now I want to know too D:.

I have 900 masterballs, I could just catch the same pokemon over and over until I have all filled and then see what happens... I'll do that now. Then release all I caught. We shall see what happens soon

I had 6 spaces left on Diamond. Thank goodness I bought Ranch.

I think it will not let you catch a pokemon, sying your boxes are full.
That's what happened in Gen II if your box was full.

in dp just like gen 1 you are not allowed to throw a pokeball. I know this from experiance

I have 9 boxes full and rest over half full now.. catching route 201 pokemon is time consuming indeed! I have 12 yatchie berries from stary and numerous metrenomes form kriketots I caught. I am sure too you won't be able to catch more pokemon, but I want to see exactly what happens. I'll post when I finally complete the task.

I have filled all the boxes, I have a living Pokédex and I filled the extra spaces to test this about a year ago:

The game doesn't let you throw PokéBalls - it tells you there is no more space, period.

Yeah, That would make the most sense.

It seems that in the games, you have enough box spaces to have 1 of each existing pokemon and a few extra. I'm assuming that's why they created pokemon box, and now ranch.
However, I do wonder if they purposely only give you enough space for 1 each, or thats just how it works out.

I wonder what'd happen if some crazy completionist wanted a living pokedex with both normal and shiny pokemon in all their possible forms including gender differences...

Probably 1020 or something... Can pokemon box and ranch store that many on the first place?
