I would have to say mine would be Indigo.

It felt just like the real Olympics games, or that something significant was happening there, it just had this feeling of finally after all of this time we've made it here. Also the introduction of the flame, Richie, and other things just made the league feel so important.

Johto and Hoenn's leagues so far have felt like fillers except for the battles, they really don't do anything to make the league feel like a "character" part of the episode as well.

I'd have to say that if I were a Pokemon trainer I certainly would travel to Indigo to compete in the league there...

However I'm always open to debates/comments what is your personal look on this?

Of all the league tournament eps, I think the Johto league tournament was the best overall. We finally got to see Ash beat Gary in a league, which we waited 250 episodes to see, and Ash used all his older Pokemon too.

Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Charizard and Snorlax seemed to be the "big guns" in the Johto league. Funny how Ash's Johto Pokemon only had minor wins, yet his Kanto Pokemon came to the rescue.

The Indigo league was fine for its time and I loved the way Ash lost because Charizard didn't obey him, but the middle two battles was rushed into the same episode, "Fire and Ice" if you remember.

The Hoenn league had great battles and proved how strong Ash became as a trainer then, but he still came in the Top 8.

I liked all three of them, usually the league tournament episodes are always exciting even though Ash loses every time. lol.

I'd have to say my favorite League so far was the Johto League Silver Conference in Master Quest.

I really enjoyed meeting Ash's rivals, and of course, I love Johto. I also think it was great how they settled Ash's rivalry with Gary, and the fact that Ash finally beat Gary in a match. Yay!! =D

And of course, I really enjoyed watching the Hoenn League and the Indigo League. Ash did a wonderful job in Hoenn (despite placing in the Top 8 again). And personally, I think Ash has become a much better trainer since season one.

OH come on Scott I thought you would have given me better than that. I meant the atmosphere and the feeling of the league!

I don't think Johto League had any moments besdies Gary that were memorable - did Ash even walk around the Johto area?? It just reeked of "filler" without any substance.

Don't they re-do the same "torch" thing in every league? In the Johto league they used Ho-oh's flame I remember, but then in the Hoenn league they used Moltres' flame again.

Well, there was that one scene from "A Claim To Flame", where Ash, Brock, and Misty were checking out the Pokemon Center. It was apparently one of the biggest Pokemon Centers they've ever seen.

And of course, I love that scene where Ash finds that comfy couch!! Hehe. XD

Yeah, but just because the writers like to reuse ideas doesn't mean that the other regions are bad.

It just means that the anime has changed a lot since season one.

Indigo was the breakout league so it gains chops for being the original one, but in terms of how it was presented, I'd still say it beats the others in comparison.

The actual prep time going into the league made it seem more tangible than the other leagues, which seemed more to fall in place after Ash got his eighth badge.

The atmosphere of Indigo was probably the best too with the writers highlighting the most central figures such as Mr. Goodshow, active authority (calling the regional mass of Jenny's and Joy's to duty) and the torch bearer in the tournament. We had day and night (of course, night being the result of the delay, but Ash's night battle with Ritche set up for some amazing atmosphere). It was this true progression of time and not some static event that happens just because Ash cleared the region.

The other regions had some really great battles, but I really liked how Indigo was set up to be a league. Like Lisa said, it changed over the years, but probably due to time restraints, or the fact all that extra setup time was just fluff the writers didn't feel like wanting to use over.

Yea the johto league was my favorite too

When ashs charizard beat blastoise i was balling my eyes out (sounds bad eh)

Indigo was my second favorite because of how ash was knocked out lol

Ash has really grown over each of the seasons..

Edit: also in the indigo league when those two officer jennys destroy team rockets balloon jenny calls the growlithe an arcanine was that an error or meant to be in the story line?

they kinda overdid it, though. Poor Hinoarashi couldn't even take out a Rarecoil susceptible to fire.

I greatly preferred Toshihiro Ono's rendition of it, personally... sure, the matches between Zenigame/Butterfree and the two Pikachu were horribly rushed one-hit draws, but the final battle made up for it. It also presented Lizardon's lack of obedience in a much more interesting manner (and rather than the match being called off simply because one Pokemon fell asleep... which was bullshit, yet rather common in those days... Satoshi lost for recalling his Pokemon because he simply didn't want his opponent's Pokemon to be slaughtered on the spot, which I think makes more sense).

Wow, this may be the one thing that's agreeable on Johto; that it had the best league tournament. I liked Hoenn's too.

I think that was because we never got the gary vs. ash we all wanted back in the Indigo League. I also feel it was because we got a wider array of Ash's pokemon used, and obviously this was the first time since the Magmar vs. Charizard that we got exceptionally good battles(partially because their animation style had improved a bit).

Hoenn; it had the best battles of the three, and I felt that they spent more time developing Ash's relations with his rivals. None of this "battle the trainer in one episode and then never see them in the League at all except for cameos" nonsense that Kanto and Johto threw in our faces.

It was a refreshing change to see more than just Ash battling as well, even if it was frequently just portions of the matches.

Houen. It was more developed than any of the others, and had far better battles. Not to mention, Satoshi's opponents got more attention than they did in the previous leagues.

Indigo.

It's about the only League Conference I can still see myself being interested in watching. Silver Conference and Hoenn only ever managed to drive me away from watching the series for extended periods of time.

I just watched the episodes again...love it.

The Outstanding Mandy was such a jerk, glad he went down...also Janet and her Belsprout...thank god Ash had a Muk.

Also I get chills from Richie asking Ash if he's ready for his biggest battle ever, and then the gym leader music kicks in...ugh chills.

I watched the whole league again just to make sure my memory wasn't jaded, and it stills holds up. The way they give attentino to the opening, the league village, and the closing makes it just feel like an epic stadium/battle.

I swear the series could have ended there and I would be content, Ash getting over his lose with Richie and realizing that you can learn things from losing, and he'll be a better trainer...also the way the theme plays at the end and all his freinds are waiting for him...classic.

If attention like this were put into Hoenn/Johto I'd feel the same, but the league isn't really a "character" like it is in Indigo...

4Kids was such a good company before they started taking over my music :(.

The Indigo league was my favorite by a MILE. The battle with Gary came in a close 2nd...and leaves everything else in the dust.

We haven't seen a good "League Conference" in a while...they should go to another one. I guess the tag battle was kind of a league conference...

Anyhow, I thought the Indidigo League Conference had the most interesting characters (Mandy etc.). It also had the most attention-grabbing battles (for example Pikachu and Bellsprout).

Finally, that mini-arc at the end of season 1 utilized some GREAT background music.

The Johto battles were good too, but not quite as captivating.

Speaking of the characters, does anyone else really like the other rivals each tournament aside from Gary?

During the Johto league we had Macy who had a crush on Ash, Jackson from the Raikou special, and of course Harrison. Harrison was admittedly a bland character, he was just there to hype us up for Hoenn with his Blaziken. The battle was great, the character was eh.

Hoenn gave us Morrisson who was a really funny character who reminded me of Yajirobe from DBZ, a Harry Potter look-a-like character, Katie (who really should have appeared again, she was awesome), and Tyson with his Meowth in boots.

In Sinnoh aside from Paul I wonder who else will be there. Probably some new characters we don't know about yet.
