What do you think it would be like if Cheren or Touya were in the BW group instead of Dento? What interactions and character development do you think would happen, as well as how would it affect the current trend of Dento's character and the BW storyline?

Well one thing is sure, we would lack of sparkles.

Although I can't imagine the BW group without either Iris or Dento (since they're basically the essence of Best Wishes), let's give it shot. IF I could pick for one of those two to replace Dento, it would be Cheren. That way, we could remove Shooty and have N as Ash's rival until his goals would be actually be revealed to everyone. I have this feeling that Cheren would have interesting interactions with Ash - because Ash is rash and stubborn while Cheren is more of a cold, more calculated guy. The two would clash leading to an interesting chemistry in the group though I don't see much about Cheren and Iris interacting. The most I can see is Cheren and Iris arguing often although they strike to me as surprisingly similar characters in terms of cynicism and realism. Though it wouldn't be as amusing as having Dento and Iris contrast each other throughout the saga.

Eh, I can't see Touya to be honest. Perhaps Touka so we could have a girly, optimistic girl and a tomboyish, cynical girl clash and with Ash added into mix it would certainly turn out to be a rather enjoyable trio imo.

As for N, I could easily see him as a rival to Ash if Shooty wasn't there - but definitely not as a part of the trio.

WHY WOULD YOU ASK THAT? ;______________;

Cheren would add so much y so srs to the show and since Satoshi is already a Suspiciously Similar Substitute for Touya, there's no point for Touya to appear...

I highly doubt N would travel with Ash and Iris. But if Cheren was there then we could have more N appearances and he could play the rival role for Ash.
I can't see the male BW protagonist traveling with him because Ash pretty much takes place of the male protagonist (he even has his outfit.) At this point into the anime I can't see any male protagonist traveling with Ash.

I'd stop watching the show because it'd be super un-fabulous.

Hah, I don't know whether or not to put a j/k after that :p

I like having a more "mature" party on the team to kinda balance everything out. The only one I can see that would fit that would be Cheren...and to be honest, I really don't like his characterization in the game. I would like it if the rival stay separate from the group, so that theoretically, their appearances would be fresh and interesting. The mysterious element of a rival (what have they been up to?? How did they get so strong? He as WHAT pokemon now???) is what keeps it interesting. I can't see Cheren's characterization and goal changing just because he's in Ash's group, and I think it would hinder his development.

As for the other people...no XD ESPECIALLY not N...you want creepy manchild as a main character on a kid's tv show?

If any of those characters were in the group, there would most likely be a lot of arguing; especially in N's case as his views on Pokemon are the opposite of Ash's.

I doubt N could argue, he's too much of a mouse in the games :p

I think it would be awesome if N was in the group. It'll be like him being a protagonist-supportive character to Ash while we all know that he is part-evil. Later on in BW when Ash finds out, their friendship becomes flawed and they'll have to pull through with this problem in the end. With... Iris being the third wheel. ;3

N's not going to argue with Ash. N never really showed resentment towards the player character in the game...just a sick strong fascination. If anything, Ash will be mad at N and TRY to provoke an argument with him, but it's not going to be mutual. It'd be too weird having that kind of relationship in the group...

N is such a good-natured sweetie that if there are two of those (N and Satoshi) on the main cast, the anime would get boring fast xd

N shouldn't be in the main cast... he's awesome, but that's why he should be kept true to his game self and appear as Ash's rival with a plot similar to his game plot (would surely beat what Trip gave us so far)
I'd love it if the group was Ash + Brock + BW heroine, with the heroine being equal to Ash like Dawn was (or actually being Dawn in her outfit, kinda like how Ash stole Lucas and BW hero's clothes) and Iris/Chilly being potential fourth member or even both there instead of Brock (simply because I prefer Chilly's design/personality over Cilan's or the other brother)
If it was up to me, it'd be Ash, Dawn, Chilly and Iris (with Iris being closer to her game self) and N being Ash's main rival with Bianca being one of the other rivals as she is now
I don't really care for Cheren and I can't see the BW hero appearing since Ash is pretty much his representive in the anime like happens to every new gen hero (except for gen 2)

Uh, why is everyone saying N wouldn't do this or that?

Seeing Cilan, Iris, and Bianca means that their game personalities won't be used for their anime counterparts.

I wouldn't be surprised if they made N antagonistic.

But him, in the group? No, never, not going to happen.

Speaking of N, why hasn't he appeared in the anime yet, even as some kind of foreshadowing? It makes me wonder if he would've had a cameo during the Rocket VS Plasma battle.

Well...there goes my amusement for the anime. Back to Pokemon Special :p

I think Cheren should only be on if Bianca was on the main cast. They have the whole BW theme.

N....as much as I like him....it'd be awkward. He needs Touya or Touko to teach him how to be non-socially inept. Ash couldn't do that, he already is kind of himself DX

Dento and Iris both need each other to play off with the essence of BW. Did anyone else notice how Iris was placed by Zekrom, and Dento was placed by Reshiram in the movie poster?

Anyways...funny piece of Trivia if anyone cares about my "Dento GOT ME BACK INTO THE ANIME!!!" stuff.

...I didn't pay attention to Dento's sillouette at all, so I thought he was Cheren.

EDIT: Oh yeah. Almost forgot. I really wanted Touya to be on the main cast. Then when I saw Iris/Ash/Don George....I was all...screw it. I want Brock back. Then I saw colored in Dento...I changed my mind COMPLETELY (I think my heart skipped a couple of beats) then I thought EEEH he's gonna be all stuck-up, but then I was wrong, he was much older than I'd thought he'd be....a lot more sparkly...and a good person all mixed into one X3

No. N is never going to be in the group.

I think the show would be more fun if Cheren and Touya were both in the group. I can see them argue 'friendly' over pokemon values and battle strategies XD

Wow-- a post I actually agree with in its entirety! Yeah, N is...simply not traveling companion material. I mean, he's the main (anti-)villain; there's a line there that you just kinda can't cross. And I'm glad to see someone else had the same conception of Hilbert and Cheren's relationship as myself; to have them both as members of the group, while still maintaining their rivalry, would be pretty damn entertaining if you ask me. Plus it'd give an opportunity for the older males of the group to be competitive battlers in their own right, rather than just the guy who cooks and keeps Ash and Iris from killing each other.

It's an interesting thought, I mean they could just piledrive their game personalities through the floor like they did with Dento and Bianca so it's difficult to imagine what it might be like.
Like if Cheren was ridiculously socially inept or eccentric, otherwise the group just wouldn't be all that interesting.

I'd like to see Cheren in the group for a while. He could be potentially, much more fun and suitable for the third role than Dent is.
I don't think the other two would fit in. Their characters aren't casual enough to be treated as mainstream protagonists.
