The title says it all: What if Digimon Took Pokemon's Place?

Takes place in what aspect? Popularity?

I hate Digimon, so life would suck!

Not quite sure if I would like it or not really. Seasons 1 and 3 were great, season 2 got on my nerves especially:

"DIGI ARMOUR ENER.........GIZE!"

And season 4 was just pure crap. So basically if it did take Pokemon's place then I would like it at times and hate it at others, unlike Pokemon which I cant seem to hate.

I am not sure want would happen if Digimon took Pokemon's place. I like both Pokemon and Digimon and I think that, but I want to say a few things. I my opinion I think that Digimon games on the Nintendo DS have a better storyline then the main Pokemon games, however have heard that Pokemon Platinum though has one of the best stories by reading the plot so I think that the stories of the Pokemon games are improving overtime. Now as for the anime I also think that Digimon's anime has a better plot than, but the Pokemon anime does have has good and entertaining plots. As for mangas the Pokemon manga are very entertaining. I have read only one manga of Digimon so far and it was pretty good as well.

Do you mean if Digimon Took place of Pokemon as in Every Monster was replaced with a Similar Digimon. I guess it'd be kind of weird.

If you mean... something like Diamond and Pearl ended and was replaced with Digimon on TV tokyo...? I think a lot of little kids will be upset, as with companies. I don't think there are as many businesses cashing in on Digimon products as Pokemon products, nor do I think the TV show would be able to build up that appeal either. (Not saying that pokemon anime does, Pokemon just accomplishes across all fronts: Video Games, TV/Cinema, Comics, Card games... That's a lot of advertisement to look at when you are deciding to buy a product endorsement... Digimon may have those... but is it fair to compare Digimon's Games and Comics to Pokemon? It feels like I'd be comparing Code Geas to Macross or something)

I prefer Digimon (BLASHPHEMY!) but I don't think it'd take Pokemon's place. It's a bit more... adult, I guess. Pokemon is about kids setting out to conquer the world; in Digimon, they're sort of forced into it, and have to do their best to survive.

But that's not the question. I really don't think things would be too different. Kids would play Digimon games and collect Digimon merchandise as much as they do for Pokemon now (and, I imagine, vice-versa). It'd make those "digivolving' transforming Digimon toys a lot more common, which might be interesting.

Iteru: Have you checked out Season 5? I haven't seen the dub, but my brother showed me a few fansubbed episodes, and it was pretty interesting.

Season 5 is awesome.

And what in the world is wrong with liking both?
Digimon and Pokemon have been the top of my fandoms list since their incessions....

I never watched Digimon, and never understood it. My freinds watched it and they say it sucks eggs.

I can't imagine Digimon as a game to replace Pokémon. I mean, you could make an interesting game out of it, but I probably wouldn't sit there for 5823952 "digi-volving" (or whatever it's called, sorry fans /sweat) for the perfect team of digital monsters. They're not very comparable. People always said Digimon and Pokémon rivaled each other... but in the end, all they have in common is monsters and kids.

I think if I woke up one day and that had happened magically overnight, there would be a gaping hole in my heart where Pokémon was wrenched out. With nail clippers. D: I think they're best as separate entities.

Now I'm thinking about what a Digimon game would be like, but I stopped following that show around season three, so... it's hard to imagine!

My brother watches it, and he likes it. Though I hate it!

Have yet to see it though I've heard that it was good. Bit dissapointed that it has a redesigned Agumon (an Agumon shouldnt really be in it at all) but absolutely anything would top season 4. Probably will aim to watch it in the summer when exams are over.

Speaking of Agumon, go on Youtube and watch Pokemon Spoof. It has a funny little thing about Digimon in it.

Digimon's anime is MUCH better than Pokemon's, but the games are not as good, but not by much.

If that would happen, i would like the anime, but i would have very mixed opinions on the games.

Brand loyalty. Everyone assumes Digimon is ripping off Pokemon and they all leap to the latter's defense. Heaven forbid they actually look at the franchise long enough to see if they like it.

I really don't think that is happening, at least not that much. I just don't think Digimon would be able to be as much a cash cow as pokemon is because it hasn't shown itself as the cash cow pokemon is already. I mean, I would think Japanese people would not be making that comparison as Monster Raising games/toys have existed long before pokemon.

I don't have anything against Digimon (speaking for myself) and I actually am a pretty big fan of it, but I don't think its set up as well as pokemon to make money off of what more they already have shown (or to really make as much more money in the long run) It's a shame because I think it has the potential if Bandai ever actually wanted to put back some effort into the series, but another side of me thinks that the damage is already done and the series will probably keep its modest popularity (Modest as in as popular as any other successful anime series)

Same with Anime, I'm not talking about which is better at all, Pokemon's is Iconic and gets ratings in the top ten... even with the bad episodes, things that don't even happen with super-popular series like Naruto too often. Putting Digimon's in Pokemon's place is not going to equal better ratings for Digimon, I mean if it doesn't help Naruto, how can it help Digimon?
