If Lucas got the role and Dawn didn't. How much would the show be different. Or if Brendan got the role and May didn't.

We'd have Ash+Lucas and the like.

Overall, it wouldn't have changed much, thought I doubt Brendan's the type for contests.

Well we wouldn't have had Takeshi, that's for sure :p

Barry would have showed up much earlier than in the anime. Also, Lucas would have a badass Magmortar on him. It's just like wondering what Advanced Generation would have been liked if Brandon (or Wally) were there instead of May and Max.

Didn't we discuss this in another thread?

If Brendon was there, he and Ash would have been heroes while the girl character would have done nothing.

Kind of sexist, don't you think?

Not to mention that the boy would actually have a higher chance of replacing Ash once the fans he starts to grow on fans.

They couldn't get that role because that role is to give us a female star
It's as simple as that
I really can't get what's so hard for people to understand this
And wait, you actually want Ash/Brock+Brendan or Lucas... and no girl at all in group? that's even worse than the girl being a sidekick...

Lucas should have replaced Brock and Misty should have come back. But I digress.

^^Geeze, can you not understand "what if" situations?

That's like saying Hitler was doomed as soon as he invaded Russia.
There are numerous "what ifs" regardning what could have happened. Impossible but possible.

Piplup, I've noticed you do this in almost every thread concerning characters. Do you have to be so cynical? It's purely for fun.

Piplup is completely right, yet missing the point of the thread. They would never go with an all-male cast. It would have been reasonable to do so if Brock were replaced with a female (if in Advance, then Misty would make sense here. If in Diamond and Pearl and she wasn't in Advance, fat chance; another character would be used).

If the male got the role, I don't think he would be contest-oriented, as that was mostly girl appeal. If they have no girl characters, they likely wouldn't care too much about that. It would probably turn out fairly redundant with another male. They might even try to put the character in as a trainee of sorts. It would be awkward after all these years to make him a significantly better battler than Ash, but if they were at the same level the two would be far too similar.

I really can't get why anyone would suggest such a thing... do we really need to have an all boys group? even without the whole star thing
And sorry, it's hard to imagine "what if" after getting used to an equal heroine and then think about the cast not even having a girl at all

thank you, next time i have a "what if" question i'm going to put the "if" as Big Bold Italicized and Underlined. Oh and CAPITALIZED. IF they still do not get the question then I don't know what to say.

i know its hard, some of my questions can be stupid and confusing.

Nah, I wouldn`t have liked them on the main cast...but if they were rivals-well, that`s another story. I would have loved them as rivals.

Why do people honestly think if they brought a new male into the show, Misty would return? I've seen people state this several times.

Do you guys really think the writers care about Misty that much? What makes some of you honestly think the writers are major Misty fans, or at least moreso than any of the other characters they wrote?

The writers have honestly never done anything with Misty to make it seem like they favor her over anyone else.

OK, then don't post in the thread if you can't think about "what if." It's just a hypothetical situation. It doesn't need to be plausible.
