What if Pikachu's inability to use electric moves lasted longer?

What do think would it make for an interesting ark. If it ended differently how do you think it should have ended?

I personally think it would have been nice to see Pikachu going back to using agility and double edge and it would have been interesting to see it use other moves Double team, light screen, Brick break, return or Dig maybe even attract, grass knot or toxic. Naturally this thread is not topical anymore but I think it is worth talking about.

I think that it would be interesting to see Ash try from time to time to chase a false lead or go through conflict trying to deal with this event. Better than being a bad plot device that doesn't even stop people from complaining about Trip.

I would have liked a small arc of maybe three episodes. I wouldn't want it to drag on, really. I'd just like to see how Ash and Pikachu would overcome their disability and use other moves effectively.

It'll be pretty interesting which can lead to several of Pikachu's development of having him to not always rely on his strongest attacks. Although it'll get repetitive w/ just Iron Tail and Quick Attack alone.:p

I dunno, Pikachu without it's Electric moves doesn't sound right. I can what you're getting it, it would be interesting, but I guess that's just how I feel. If you're not going to use a pokemon for what it's good at, then honestly, you could easily replace it with another pokemon and get the same results, perhaps even better results. Yeah, I'm glad that Pika did get it's powers back, although I'm unsure if it meant a power debuff, as everyone seems to be inclined to believe. This series has been bad about keeping perceived level of skill consistent anyway, though, regardless of how much continuity the previous story arcs had. I will say "Yes, we do need character development in this arc, but this is not how it should be done."

But wouldn't this be the perfect reason for Ash to lose as much as he does.

No, because Pikachu should be powerful even without his electric moves. Which truly why the original encounter with Trip frustrates people. Pika used Iron Tail and it didn't completely destroy him. The flipping thing is an untrained starter, that thing should've fainted in one hit, but noooo, the anime has to live in opposite land. :p Be that as it may, Pika shouldn't have lost for not being able to use it's Electric moves, since it has other moves. However, just because Pika doesn't really need to have his Electric moves doesn't mean he shouldn't have them at all. That's like telling someone who likes to run not to do it simply because they don't have to.

Not that fight in particular that was bull but think it would be good for the Panpour fight and the Second Trip fight.

It would be a good way to develop Ash.

Again, why have an Electric pokemon if you're not going to be able to use Electric moves? Yeah, I know, Pika is the face of the franchise, but that's even more of a reason for Pika to possess the power it's known for. I just can't justify doing that in the name of character development. If you can, then okay. Maybe if it resulted in a "you had the power all along" deal. Maybe then Pika would stop being gimped at the beginning of every story arc. (Ha, like that would happen. I know why they do this, but it's still kinda irksome)

It would be nice to see Pikachu not use his Electrical attacks if it weren't for the fact he would eventually be able to use them again. For a small story arc, it would work really well, but beyond that, it wouldn't, not because Pikachu can't learn nice moves beyond Electric-type ones, but because Pikachu would eventually replace them. Yes, it would be f*cking awesome if it learnt Grass Knot but he would eventually replace it with an Electric-move, because Pikachu, or all of the Pokémon in the series in general tend to use moves same type as them excessively, save for a few exceptions.
