(If this isn't the right thread, excuse me, lock it/move it w/e)

I wondered: What if Pokémon only had the first 151 Pokémon?

I think they could do many things with it, for even 15 years. But I think it could get quickly boring.

It would be very boring. I might not be as interested in it, and I think it would of had a great effect on the popularity of Pokemon in general.

Not too fun. We would get bored of the new Pokemon quickly, and they wouldn't get stronger through new evolutions either.

It would be very, very boring. I don't think I would play or watch the anime.

There wouldn't be enough new things. And I can't live without Serperior.

^^ D'AWWWW

Thanks!

.... what do you mean you meant teh Pokémon!

LOL - but yes, It would be VERY BORING!

Very, very, very, very, verrrrrrryyyyyyy boring, indeed!

So boring we would all be able to name all 151 off by heart 100 times over.

Probably in order, too. But yeah, it'd get boring. That is, unless each game had an amazing storyline or something.

They couldn't have lasted five Gens with only 151 Pokemon could they? Each of them would have had to have had about 40 episodes dedicated to them. That would have been very boring.
If they had ended the anime before it got past 151 then I think I'd look back at it more fondly then I do now. Because it was such a unique show for Kids TV if they had ended it there it would have kept some of its creative awesomeness but because it's been milked it's less cult and more 'You STILL watch Pokemon???? That show started sucking years ago'

^^^Pretty much the reaction I get from everybody I talk to about Pokemon in University :(

We wouldn't have nostalgics. Except maybe for the storyline and versions.

Oh heck, I was already bored with about 147 of the original 151 by the time late 2000 rolled around (it doesn't help that I spent my mid-adolesence playing Blue and Yellow about 15 times too many). I was grateful to Generation II for giving me some fresh faces to play with.

Every retro fanboy's dream!

I'll be bored. Gen 1 does have some of favorites, but its not enough in order for me to fully enjoy Pokémon like it is today now. Even with today's technology.

Very boring indeed. A franchise needs to stay fresh otherwise it would not attract new fans and the existing ones would leave unless they were very committed.

It just wouldn't make any sense not to expand on the original 151.

Wow, that would have been so boring...

No Dark and Steel. No epic Pokes like Gardevoir or Salamence. Dragonite and Gengar as the only Dragon and Ghost...

Ugh. That'd be so awful.

What's the MAIN thing that's advertised when ever there's a new generation? That's right, the new Pokemon. As others have said, it would get boring very, very quickly if it stopped there. Heck, whenever I play through a game again, aside from the starter or if it's just a Pokemon I really like, I try not to use Pokemon I've already used to keep it fresh.

Also, nostalgia goggle'd fans would just complain about something else to "justify" why they quit the series after the first games.

One of the great things about pokemon is how many there are. The games would lose some of that creativity and charm if they kept it so stale. Critics already say the game hasn't changed in 15 years and that's with new pokemon every generation.

Yeah, pretty much what everyone's saying. It would be boring! Some people keep complaining how the new Pokemon are dumb, and aren't "real" Pokemon, but how would they like it if there was only one Region, and one set of Pokemon? There would be nothing new, and nothing fun. What would be the point of even buying the game if it's always the same?

It would be slightly boring but I'd still like it. Then it would be easier to watch every single episode, movie side story ect.
