What would happen if Team Rocket actually succeeded with capturing Pikachu. They bring him to the boss, what do you think would happen? If it happened in the upcoming episode. Jessie and James swoop by and actually snag up Pikachu and bring him back to headquarters to Giovanni in Viridian City. What would Ash and Co. do? I've always wondered this, it seems such an obvious plotline, I can't believe the writers have never done it!? I mean it seems really entertaining, despite its predictability. In no specific order, I think one or a few of the following would occur:

A.) Jessie and James feel guilty and return Pikachu to the twerps.
B.) Ash, Cilan, and Iris go on a quest back to Viridian to get Pikachu back and defeat Giovanni and successfully get Pikachu.
C.) Meowth, still on team twerp, vainly attempts to cajole Jessie & James out of turning over Pikachu to the boss, J&J in retrospect talk Meowth into helping them, that's how Meowth is reunited with the TRio again.
D.) (Wouldn't happen, but I would love it...) Since in Kanto, close to Cerulean, Pewter and especially Pallet, Ash gets together with Misty, Tracey, Brock, his mom, and Oak to help get Pikachu back, then spends some time at home with family and friends and old Pokemon since he's in the area anyway. This leads to Iris and Dento meeting the old crew...(hehehehe that's my fun fantasy one... :p)

What do you think?

Ash would derail the entire plot of the anime until he got his precious mouse back.

I think none of the things you suggest can happen, since Unova is too distant for it to be possible, and none of TR have a soul anymore, not even Meowth. Today's dub ep perhaps gives some insight. Just showing Gio that they've captured Pika could be enough, although demonstrating that he's super powerful may be difficult, as that is the only thing that would get his attention. I don't think this would be the end, though, because as long as they remain in Unova, Ash and co. still have a chance to retrieve Pika. Back in DP, we've seen how they would send a poke to Gio. The Delibird is still available to them, although I think this would look suspicious in Unova, so maybe there is another way, perhaps through one of their connections. The only way TR wins is if they can clandestinely send Pika to Gio before the twerps get to them. It is possible, but it would require the TR plan to end all TR plans. (possibly literally) Even more elaborate than Nimbasa. Would they gain Gio's favor for securing such a powerful pokemon? I don't know. Would Ash chase them all the way back to Kanto? Perhaps, but he'd be flipping insane to even attempt it. Who knows where Gio is, or what kind of protection he has. He could perhaps have Ash arrested for getting anywhere near him. Stow away on TR's chopper? Maybe, but they would most likely end up facing mobs of Rocket Grunts, and perhaps Gio himself. As awesome as that would be, I don't think they could win. I don't think they would do any of that, even in the slightest stretch of my imagination. I do, however, feel that perhaps before either Unova or BW is done, TR will unleash a plan of such magnitude, and if it does happen, I expect a final climactic showdown of some sort, as successfully capturing Pikachu would be the ultimate achievement for TR. There is nothing that could possibly top it. (except perhaps for a hostile takeover of Team Plasma, but we still don't know if they're still in this series)

I think Ash would also have a mental breakdown along the way and contemplate suicide unless the rodent was returned to him.

Ash wouldn't attempt to rescue Pikachu? Are you serious? He'd die for that rat!

Wait what was the whole reason why they wanted Pikachu again?
Because it's powerful. It blew up a Pokémon Center in the second episode. (the first time Ash foiled any of their schemes)

Really, if they caught it, the boss would probably berate them for taking so long just for a pitiful and common creature like that.
Or by some Ex Machina, Pikachu would find a kink in their armor they forgot overlooked in their own stupidity and it'd escape on its own.

I would laugh my head off if they did catch Pikachu, take it to the boss and he said; why are you giving me this thing?

14 years stalking a little boy in a hot air balloon, torturing the child every single day for a rat=wasted.

I didn't mean he wouldn't do that, because I'm sure he would. I meant that them getting away with Pika wouldn't happen.

Oh, okay, and obviously they wouldn't it's a what if, like what if the sky collapsed or what if Ash turned 11?

The Rockets have sucessfully captured Pikachu before. They've just never been able to keep him. Anyway, I feel that if they managed to capture Pikachu and keep him long enough to present him to the boss, he'd probably look at them funny and say, "Um, there are plenty of Pikachu here in Kanto. Why'd you waste your time bringing me this?"

Getting down to it, did Sakaki/Giovanni ever ask for them to try and capture Pikachu? Wasn't that the decision of Jessie, James, and Meowth to pursue them?

Giovanni would kindly ask Team Rocket to return it back since he's more interested in powerful Pokemon, not some wimpy ones like Pikachu. So really, their attempt to catch Pikachu was in vein.

Despite the fact that the only reason it blew up was because of the other Pikachu helping it...

Giovanni was never after Pikachu to begin with. So if they brought it to him, he'd probably reject it, and ask why they brought it.

If the Rockets are gone after BW...

I could see them capturing Pikachu in the BW finale after the league. This would lead into a 3-episode arc that would include the Rockets traveling back to Viridian City with Pika, and Sakaki would make his final appearance.
But this arc would include something more important going on, like some remaining Plasma people (I'd assume TP has been defeated at this point?) or other bad guys wanting to take revenge on Team Rocket HQ or something similar that leads to a big battle.
So Sakaki is too busy to notice Pikachu and the twerps manage to rescue it but they end up in the middle of the epic battle in the HQ. Finally Sakaki and the whole Team Rocket faces its end, and the TRio's story ends while they decide to a) be independent criminals, b) be good or c) die. Satoshi says goodbye to Iris and Dento and his journey continues to another region with Pikachu...

... I just wrote up a small fan fic, didn't I?

Giovanni wouldn't want it. Upon realizing this, the TRio would shoot themselves.

Pretend explanation:Ash would turn super sayin 3 and defeats them all:XD2: Then he gets his pikachu back.
Real explanation:The same thing execpt with the super sayin thing. Plus longer plot and more drama(I've never liked drama)
Whenever Ash loses pikachu,he turns invincible(he's been hiding that everlasting invicible star all along, hasn't he?).

The trimuph would be similar to this:

TR: We caught Pikachu, Giovanni!
Giovanni: Coolstorybro, Now get me a useful Pokemon this time.

Team Rocket would use Pikachu to their advantage to rule the Pokemon World, however, Pikachu would disobey them, and they'd chuck it back at Ash.

If Pikachu obeyed... and became theirs...
Ash would undergo a mission to save the world- and his Pikachu!

Wow, that'd be awesome...

Isn't there was a time which they agreed to capture Pikachu for themselves?

I'm not the only one who thought "This is like asking what if the Coyote caught the Road Runner", right?
