What if the pokemon anime was a 3D series?

I've been wondering if pokemon was 3 dimensional lately. What would the characters and pokemon look like? I know they are 3D pokemon games out there but thier animations are limited. Will it work out?
 
I don't know it would so much...in the latest movies, 10, 11 and 12, the legendaries diagla, palkia and so on look kinda 3D, moreso than other pokemon, they look good that way, but if all pokemon and everyhthing was 3D I am not so sure if I'd like it so much.
 
It depends on the animation director. We all know the characters look different depending on the animator. The characters would need to stand out in 3D for me to like it.

Nah. It would probably look horrible, considering that most of the fans have grown to like the series as it is now. I really don't get why everything has to be 3D.

Considering that every 3D animation looks bad when it's not done by either Pixar or Dreamworks. Having Pokémon in 3D would be a terrible idea.
 
Most Pokémon would look too robotic I'd think. Unlike anime, where lack of detail looks fine, 3D needs all the details explicitly there, and they'd have a hard time texturing good fur, feathers, and water effects. If they had a high budget movie, they could probably manage it (though a CGI Pokémon movie would be a bad idea for different reasons), but if they tried it on a weekly TV show, they would be forced to cut corners and make everything look terrible.
 
I'm not too fond of 3D animation, and if it was for a tv series the budget would be too small to make it look fantastic..
 
I would hate it. And it really wouldn't be anime, then, would it?

But yeah...that would be awful.

"Anime" is just the Japanese word for "animation." And "CGI" is definitely included in that.

I agree, it's cool for them to experiment with 3D animation and use it occationally, but if the entire series looked like that it might not be as good. However, if you look at the Clone Wars TV series, that is in 3D and looks pretty cool...

I know, I agree, but what I mean is that there is a certain style most people think of when you say 'anime', and 3D animation is definitely not that.
