Like The Pokémon Company International just wanted new voice actors & hired FUNimation.

Also If it were on a different TV network like Nickelodeon, Disney Channel etc.

Would the voice actors be better in your opinion?

Would the Openings be longer & more memorable?

Would their be any edits like 4kids did?

Different/Better Background Music?

etc.

It would be nice if they switched to FUNimation for the XY anime. (6th Gen)

=)

I wouldn't mind seeing that. Funimation's dubs nowadays are generally pretty accurate to the source material, so we'd probably get stuff like next episode previews and dubbed Japanese openings, plus all the Japanese music kept in every episode. Looking of one of their recent dubs, Dragon Ball Z Kai, the episodes aired on TV used shortened openings, but it's full length on the DVD. The first couple of insert songs in Kai were dubbed into English but the rest were left in Japanese, oddly enough. I think I could trust Funimation to get suitable voices. Maybe they could have some 4kids or TPCi voice actors do voice work (since some actors like Sean Schemmel appear all over the place). I don't know if the dubbing companies receive the Professor Oak segments at the end of each episode, but if they do, Funimation would probably dub them.

So yeah, if Pokémon went to Funimation I'd have no complaints. But before that, how about we get back to that uncut dub of Yu-Gi-Oh!...

Funimation is a great dubbing company to choose indeed.

Although these days there really isn't much to edit, besides getting op and ed (which would be awesome) pretty much Pokemon has toned down whatever phase it was going through in the first season.

But I'm not against it, I would love to own completely uncut box sets of the series one day.

If the show was dubbed by FUNimation, it would be the same way TPCi dubs it only except everyone would sound like One Piece characters.

I wish that was a possibility so much.

I think that Funimation would do a pretty good job. They'd wouldn't edit too much, if anything, they'd probably dub the Japanese openings instead of making their own and keep the original background music as well. I think that they would do a good job with picking the voices, although there aren't a lot of voice actors in their talent pool that I think would fit with the characters off the top of my head. They don't have much experience with a toyetic series, so I'm not sure how they'd handle that, but I wouldn't mind if Pokemon went to Funimation.

Nah, I like funimations VAs, but I'd still prefur the 4kids ones dubwise. And Also, the funi VAs would just appear a bit eariler (and voice the mains) in the series instead of the COTDs in late sinnoh and best wishes era.

I do think they would leave the openings intact.

Which Funimation VAs would you like to voice Ash and Team Rocket if the current VAs had to replaced?

You mean the "not whitewashing your product for xenophobic dubbing companies" phase?

Pretty much. First season is nothing like the others (which everyone knows here), which is a shame. But what can you do? The franchise has gained international fame, and apparently, must adjust accordingly. :(

Anyways there really isn't much to edit, but I would love to finally get the OST playing for all the episodes and not this 25%,70%, whatever crap.

I doubt this will happen anytime soon, but it would be great to get all the music and openings, as well as better translations. Hopefully, they would have better voice acting. Then again, it could end up like the Fairy Tail dub in regards to the voices.

LOL If Ash sounded like Luffy from One PieceXD I don't know what else they could do to help Pokemon, if it was an unknown series for the US they'd advertise it pretty well, I thought 4kids did a pretty good job back in the days, it's pretty well known every where. I am curious about the previews, they always do such a good job getting people interested in new series, I'd like some one to do a fan made Funimation preview for Pokemon just for fun.

It would be awesome. Funi is a great dubbing company. I doubt there'd be any cuts or edits to anything, and if there were, they'd undoubtedly be absent in a DVD release.

Though, they tend to dub more maturish Anime, so, unless Pokemon X and Y suddenly become badass, I wouldn't see this actually happening.

Even though it'd be cool...and could air on Toonami...

^What Pikaminccino said.^

Vic Mignogna as James? Now THAT I gotta see!
Eric Vale as Brock? I'm liking this.
Colleen Clinkenbeard as Ash? We're on a roll here. 3 for 3.
Doc Morgan as the Narrator? Awesome.

(Or, they could just pull a YGO and Shaman King Uncut and reunite the 4Kids dub cast!)

Yeah, essentially how I feel, unless they brought back the 4Kids cast like they did in the Uncut YGO and Shaman King dubs. It still wouldn't feel the same without Maddie, but it would still be better than TPCi for me.

If 4Kids can't come back (I say that as in I'm saddened by that here), then I'd love it to go to FUNimation. I don't hate TPCi's version of the dub, but I do feel the dub has been at its weakest point since they took over from 4Kids.

But before that, how about we get back to that uncut dub of Yu-Gi-Oh!...

I loved that uncut dub! The 9 episode one, right? God, I wish that wasn't cancelled due to low sales. It was really good and Tea calling Mai a "pheromone hussy" was priceless. :(

It would be interesting, since I cannot stand the current TPCi voice cast, they're too high pitched and squeaky for my tastes, as well as not very talented, I mean really, say what you will about the 4Kids voice cast, they at least had some talent to an extent. I mean really, Veronica Taylor was actually a talented and professional voice actress, and even though I didn't like his voice as Sonic, at least Jason Griffith put effort into his work

TPCi's voice actors are clearly inexperienced amateurs, I don't know if they're known for anything else but Pokemon, like they were genetically bred for the Pokemon anime, or were simply hired out of nowhere, and they pale in comparison to larger and more well known, professional cartoon voices such as Tara Strong, Sam Vincent, or John Di Maggio, let alone the Funimation dubbers.

Despite that, even if Funimation dubbed the Pokemon anime, the series itself wouldn't be any better than it already is overall.

Actually I feel Meowth and Brock's voices are on the opposite end of the spectrum in that they are way, way too gruff and deep now, but yeah, overall I still share your sentiment of how the TPCi VAs just aren't all that talented to me when compared to the older Pokemon 4Kids VAs. Jason Griffith actually plays Cilan now, and he's probably the best VA on the main cast in the current TPCi dub to me. LOL.

Even barring the voices, their voice acting chops itself just aren't up to par with their predecessors. Porter's voice actor acting is an excellent example of why I feel this way. Sarah's acting is still really artificial after all this time (albeit her voice is better than before).

Still, yes, the dub's been pretty tough to watch for me over the last few years. The TPCi dub has grown tolerable in BW, but that being said it's just tolerable for me. I'm not having any fun with the dub anymore. Though yeah, the series itself has been going downhill for me as well, but an improved dub might help me maintain my interest a bit longer. :)

Professor Oak and Delia...good god, their TPCi dub voices. Good god. I'll never get used to them...

This guy did a really good job, though:

Actually, the uncut DVDs weren't cancelled because of low sales. There were contract issues with some of the Japanese voice actors, which I think were for Yugi's voice actor and the first voice actress for Bakura, that prevented them from releasing more of the uncut dub. I believe that was confirmed in an interview with a 4Kids employee, which would make sense. They had a promo for volume four in the third uncut volume and Amazon had volumes five and six listed for some time, so there were plans to keep it going for at least awhile longer, but they had to stop more immediately. Plus, they ran into the same legal issues after they tried to upload the raws on their YouTube account. I so wish that they had been able to continue it. Having DM uncut on DVD would have been awesome. The voice acting for the dub was a bit shaky in the uncut version, but I would have been happy with just the subs they had.

Anyway, Funimation using the 4Kids cast would be awesome. I don't have too much of a problem with the TPCI cast. I still prefer the 4Kids cast, but the TPCI has generally improved for the most part. Still, if Funimation could somehow use the 4Kids cast for their dub, that would have been perfectly fine with me.

Ah, so that's what happened. I also felt the acting wasn't as good as in the edited 4Kids dub too, but it was still pretty good and up to par for me. Their was one improvement I felt in that I've always liked Frank Frankson's Tristan over Sam Riegel's, so the uncut DVDs helped out with Tristan if nothing else. If you watch the Uncut dub YGO episodes, then there's basically only 1 episode with Sam Riegel as Tristan, and then it goes back to Frankson. lol!

Yeah, I'd love it if FUNi would re-use the 4Kids cast if they got the dub. The TPCi cast is okay/tolerable but they've never really grown on me to the point where I feel I can accept them as the voice actors. I don't hate them, but at the same time, I don't like them either. I'm just so...neutral...on them. I feel the 4Kids cast was notably superior myself.
