What if they made a seperate Anime series for each generation?

Title say it all.

For example, Ash would be the main hero of Kanto, Jimmy (or Ethan) for Johto, May for Hoenn (to give some gender diversity and variation among the main trainers) and Dawn for Sinnoh (same reason for May). It all takes place in the same universe but follows one after another as sequels. Sorta like the Power Rangers. It'd be good depending on the writing and storytelling.

And please don't say something like "It wouldn't be the same!"
 
What if I was born the inheritor of a vast fortune? Wouldn't that be grand?

I know that. I'm asking what it'd be like if they did the same for the Anime. What would it be like (story wise, that is)?
 
People would bitch even more about it, because they'd completely change the cast every time. So we'd never hear the end of arguments about which series was better and which protagonist was better and which one portrayed Pokemon the best.

Oh wait. That's pretty much the same stuff that happens now. Huh.

It would be shows like Digimon or YU-GI-OH...So, I say no.
 
Well, when the cast of Series one of Digimon got taded for the Zero two gang people cried about that, it kept getting worse as the show went on. I don't mean series wise, I mean fan base. With Yugioh, well just go watch GX go on. Things got better with 5D's a bit, but people who were fans of the original Yugioh series still always say that show is better and that they won't give the new shows a chance. I say same thing would happen here, heck I hear fans of this show say if Ash ever got replaced they'd leave. I think Pokemon owners did the right thing by keeping Ash as the main character.

Hey, it might make the anime worth watching? Although if they used Dawn they would need to lessen the amount of contests. I would much rather have a fresh cast every generation than see the same old people everytime. I don't even like Ash that much...
 
What about Lyra for Johto and Brendan and Leaf for the hoenn? Say they made these region things in correspondence with the current Pokemon anime.

We are talking about the main series not the specials, people don't mind it with the specials cuz its not the main series. If they were ever to try switching the main character in the main series many people would be crying. With the specials you can watch the sidekick characters do there own adventures but keep the main character still.
 
That actually is sort of what im saying. They could go into more detail of Vicente's, Jimmy's, and Marina's journey into the Johto region. And Brendan and Leaf could travel in the hoenn. And then Lucas and an OC? could be for the Sinnoh.
 
???? Your saying replace Ash with Vicente's, Jimmy and Marina? I'm sorry again I think kids would be crying about Ash being gone. See, I've already posted why, besides it'd be like watching Ash journey all over again but with a new character. Kids who have been following Ash on his quest to become a Pokemon Master since Kanto will be wondering what the heck is this? Is this the same show? Is Ash still here? It will be like when they replaced Misty only ten times worse, think of it like the world ending only on our Pokemon forums cuz fans would be going crazy, anti Ash fans may be happy about this, but you might be suprised with how many Ash fans we have not just inside the forums but Japan yah know? I'm no Misty fan so don't think that LOL.
