What if they made Paul apart of the fifth Generation cast?

To be honest, I wouldn't mind at all. As long as he receives some character development. His current additude makes him a good character for now, but it would be utterly pointless if he remains static for the rest of his tenure.

As a member of Ash's merry little gang? No thanks.

But as a recurring character? Sure, I wouldn't be against it. If handled well, maybe the climax of DP could be Paul's "don't be such a douche" epiphany, while he could continue into Generation V and experience a redemption over time. While still not becoming super-friendly to Ash-like levels, of course. They could really go any way they want with it.

I'm also confused over where Paul would *go* after Sinnoh if not the Black/White region? He's gone through Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh. If they plan on retiring his character with this generation, and assuming he doesn't retire from training, where would it be stated is his next move? An unspecified location? Ooh, how about attempting to conquer the Kanto Battle Frontier? That could work considering Brandon's part in shaping his character...

Regardless of what happens, I fully expect to see him after DP at some point. In what context, I have no clue.

I was kind of hopping they'd just continue on with Ash/Paul rivalry.
Just have Paul be angry/confused next region and be on a bit of a loosing streak after his loss with Ash in the league. Than he could come back and rechallange Ash. Than try and discover what went wrong and stuff. If done right, Paul could be one of the most well developed characters on Pokemon.

This isn't really the league or the end conversation.
Its about the fifth Generation.

Team rocket trio after hearing the question.
Jessie: That might be a trouble..
James: And make it double..

Paul: How pathetic..

Well... i just say that i don't like the idea..
Peace men..

I'd love it, Paul is a great character. A jerk, but Kaiba is a jerk, and I loved that Yugioh bastard.

i would love it. and honestly i can see this happening. i mean come on, this guy has been to all the regions ash has, why not?

Because the Anime Is a advertisement for the games. Paul was here for HG/SS and now that DP Is done he Is over as-well.

It sounds like an interesting concept. To me, it wouldn't matter if Paul appeared in Gen V.

I wouldn't mind either way, he Is a good rival but he can't keep on being a jerk forever without him getting on my nerves. He's bound to have some sort of enlightening moment and decide to be cool (Most likely after the league Is over)

Even Gary developed that much and he barely got any screentime to do it in.
