Except Ash and Pikachu and Team Rocket who always are the main characters of the show. Would you be happy?

Isn't this more or less a given?

While they may appear a little bit, Misty/Brock/Gary are long done as characters.

Hell, we don't even see Ash use Bulbasaur/Squirtle/Charizard anymore.

Have you seen into the future or something? I'd love to have your powers. Brock hasn't left just yet. Bulbasaur was recently seen. Squirtle/Charizard may come back any time. Gary was seen not that long ago, and could be seen again anytime. Misty could appear in 10 years time, we never know. Obviously you do though, awesome.
 
I didn't say we'll never see them again.

But if appearing for 2-4 episodes after every 5 years is "screentime," then so be it.

When was the last time Misty was even in an episode? Almost a half-decade ago?

I say no. They have to show Kanto. Its where Ash was from originally, not to mention the place where he goes to first before he starts a new region. Whoever said "no" has bad accuracy.
 
It does seem like all the Kanto staples are gone from the series now.

DP was the first saga Ash didn't even use Bulbasaur/Squirtle/Charizard in a battle. That says a lot in itself.

Well, they have to give other pokemon a chance.

I don't know about Charizard and squirtle but bulbasaur might be used in the BW league.

...? Just becuase they didn't cameo in DP doesn't mean they're gone forever. DP focused on Ash's Johto starters in the league, that's why his Kanto starters didn't appear.

On-topic: I hope they'll continue showing older characters in the upcoming series. I want to see older characters like Misty and Tracey in the series again.

But I see no reason for them not to, well except for like plot reasons and the such. DP was the best saga with continuity, so I doubt they'd just drop that in BW.
 
Well when it comes to the BW arc, what pre-DP characters could appear?

I don't think any DP-era characters will appear either except possibly Dawn. I doubt we'll see anything of Paul, etc.
 
hmm.. the only ones left are ash and brock and team rocket. well im almost 60% sure brock wont be in that new anime best wishes. but thats just a guess. I miss kanto and the good ol' days..
 
Y'know, there are always reruns. Isn't the 50+ hours of worth of Kanto stuff that already exists enough for you people?
 
Dogasu's got a point. Besides, we'll still see them, albeit, not much these days, but I doubt most of Kanto will disappear forever.
 
Gary and Misty have already been gone for the last 8 years, besides their brief re-appearances.

Its really only Brock leaving that's, "news."
 
I'd say no. Ash can't do everything by himself and he needs support from other people during his battles and training.
