What is going on in Johto?

What do you think May, Harley, and Drew are doing in Johto?

WHat pokemon are they catching, how many ribbons do they have? And the big question... Who will win the grande festival and when we Ash and Co. hear about it?

May's Team:
Munchlax
Blaziken
Chikorita or Totodile
Glaceon
Ledyba

Drew's Team:
Roserade
Absol
Flygon
Sneasal
Skuntank??

Harley's Team:
Ariados
Octillery
Cacturne
Wigglytuff
Tyranitar??
Magmortor??

I think they each have about 2 ribbons right now and May or Drew will win the Grande Festival.
 
I think Harley's the more likely one to have a Skuntank. It's a Dark Pokemon, which Harley likes. He likes Poison Pokemon, too.
 
I think they've unfortunately fallen into "plothole" land, i.e. same region where the GS ball was abandoned.

I wonder how many ribbons she has though, since May isn't sidetracked by Ash's Gyms anymore she's probably getting her ribbons at a faster pace than before.

Hopefully she abandoned her Squirtle at her house before she went there tho. ;)
 
They're in Pokemon Limbo. Like Comicbook Limbo, but harder to escape from.

I agree that May is likely getting her ribbons at a faster pace than before. It is also likely that she may meet up with a few people Ash met while in Johto, and is learning something about Ash's travels through the region, which is something I'm sure she is curious about. Note: This is not meant in an advanceshippy way, for those of you who will point out that it sounds as such.
 
I never said we would find out because, odds are, we won't. We might meet some of May's pokemon and hear if she won the Grande Festival. And ya, Skuntank does seem likely for Harley.
 
It's so stupid that during AG they made 16 new episodes that most of them were not necessary but now they don't do anything for May
They could easily show us all of May's journey in Johto in 26 episodes if they'll only show the important things (contests/GF May's new Pokémon and maybe the GS ball too)

Not to mention how interesting it could be to see May against Jasmine and Marina in contests... I even thought maybe Karen could decide for some reason to try contests and be a rival to May with her Umbreon... it would be good to see Eevee at the spotlight and have a rivalry with Umbreon after how neglected it was in BF and will also be interesting to see another game character that we were "supposed" to see back in Johto

I hope despite I know it's unlikely that they are waiting for a GS remake... I'd also like to see other Johto game characters that we didn't got and maybe even if they'll make it longer to have May and Marina defeat TR that would also lead eventually to Jessie and James find that TR doesn't exist anymore from May when she'll come to visit near the end of Sinnoh and they'll finally decide to be "good" from now and the twerps will forgive them and they'll become recurring characters or something with Jessie being a coordinator and possibly James challenging gyms
Though I'm not sure if I want that with TR to happen... but if Ash really will win the Sinnoh league than defear the E4 and Cynthia and that'll be his conclusion they'd probably want to do something like that to TR

And how did no one mentioned Solidad? she's a rival to May now just like Drew and Harley... even more important than them as May still didn't defeat her
 
They could have a Pokemon Chronicles episode on May's adventure is Johto. That would be different!

I'm still holding out for an evolution. It'd be best to not only start off a new slate with the thing (its level of strength would actually seem more reasonable when evolved, plus its appearance wouldn't conjure up bad memories -_-), but also to give a much more interesting but less-showcased Pokemon like Kameil more screentime, as well as ensure its sickening base form can never, ever return to plague our TV screens/computer monitors ever again. In short, kill it off in a fashion that'd make guro-fans piss themselves in horror (fat chance)>>>>>>>>>>>>>>evolve it and make me actually like the thing>>>>>box it and leave open the frightening possibility it'll come back some day.
 
^ Well, look on the bright side, FR/LG advertising is long over and she's likely to keep Blaziken, Munchlax, and Eevee with her at least, while making at least a few captures in Johto.

I wouldn't be surprised if Squirtle isn't on her team anymore. There's really no need for it to be shown again post-AG.
 
I'm sort of hoping May will return for a Snowpoint episode to showcase her Eevee evolving into Glaceon the same way Misty returned for Togetic.
 
Hopefully May and Drew have admitted their true feelings for each other and are now officially an item. XD :p
 
Geez, am I really the only one here who actually likes May's Squirtle? I can't believe how many people hates him. It's really disappointing for me.
But, back to topic. As much as I like to seen how's May doing in Johto, it's unlikely we ever seen her. Her saga is closed just like Misty's and Tracey's are. But unlike those two, May is big competitor for Dawns' popularity. Therefore, the writers will not remember her IMO. The only way for her to return is, if we get a new game placed in Johto. And I personaly do not expect such thing happen.

Squirtle is like the AG version of Togepi. A Pokemon that's meant to be cute but the writers went about it the totally wrong way. Its easily May's worst Pokemon, and since she already had Bulbasaur it was a mistake to give her a second Kanto starter.

Her saga is closed just like Misty's and Tracey's are. But unlike those two, May is big competitor for Dawns' popularity.

Misty/Tracey's sagas were technically closed, but that didn't stop the writers from showcasing them a number of times after they left the show. I think both Misty and Tracey have appeared in around 10 episodes since they left the show, (via either specials or in-show episodes), so if they can actually show them, characters who don't really advertise anything, May should be no difference.

Likewise, Dawn's popularity compared to May is no different than May's popularity compared to Misty. Despite May pretty much carrying the entire fanbases attention away from her, Misty was still shown from time to time. I understand that this time two coordinators is different, but when you get down to it, there's really not much of a difference.

The only way for her to return is, if we get a new game placed in Johto. And I personaly do not expect such thing happen.

I dunno about the game, but I do think Marina would be heavily showcased if it does happen. May might get something, but who knows.

actually, there is a difference: another Coordinator automatically qualifies as a rival, so there is actually potential for plot development there (considering, if the two face each other in a Contest, Satoshi and Takeshi might be conflicted, having befriended and traveled with both girls, and Hikari could take another beating that's out of her league). In Kasumi and Kenji's cases, however, you could probably omit them completely and they'd have no significant effect. I mean, look at all of Kasumi's appearances since she left: the Mirage Kingdom and her Housou appearances only affected her own development, and not so much the development of any main AG characters.

Appearing at the beginning of Battle Frontier? One might argue that Pikachu would have badly suffered from Habunake's poison if her Ruriri hadn't used Refresh, but aside from Kasumi leaving (which goes back on her presence having no actual effect on the story in the first place), and possibly some characterization for Masato (who didn't do much the rest of AG), that episode was pure filler. As much as I loved seeing Habunake fucking pwn Pikachu for once, there's no denying that the whole "Pikachu's been poisoned" side-plot was just cooked up by the writers to make her new Togepi replacement appear to have some merit in hopes they won't make another mistake of having a baby Pokemon be fucking worthless (but that's a moot point itself when said Pokemon is barely gonna appear much more in the rest of the meta-series' entire run). Finally, while Kasumi's lure was a bit of emotional support for Satoshi as he was preparing to face Jindai, he was getting support from several other sources, so that was just a petal in a bouquet.
 
Agreed on all accounts. We might not get to see any of her adventures in Johto, but its a given we'll see the writers try to connect the two Contest arcs at some point. There's just no reason to do it so early in a saga.

As you said, Misty appearing in AG was to tie up loose ends with the character, I would say the only impact she had on the new characters was Max. Its actually a shame Misty/Max interaction was only for 1 ep, I liked Max looking up to her.

Granted, anyone think we'll see Max again? lol.

We'll see all of the previous main characters again
They proved they don't forget them with Misty and Tracey
Also while I don't know what they're waiting for I'm sure sometime Ash will show his half medal from the AG unofficial contest and will tell Dawn about May just like how they told her about Misty only when she saw the lure
And I think someone on Pokéani speculated they'll use that contests site we saw in DP41 to have Ash and Dawn see the results of the Johto GF and Ash and Brock will note there May/Drew/Harley/Solidad
 
Here's a general question relating to the topic:

Do you think the dress-up is in the Johto Contests or not? Dawn said that Sinnoh Pokemon Contests are different than others, so maybe coordinators only dress-up in that region.

May's worn a dress before, but Drew doesn't seem like the guy who would enjoy dressing up. Harley could dress as May again. :D
 
I don't think the people care very much whether you do or not. I wonder if seals are in effect there.
