i heard that cyrus didn't have any emotions so why was he smiling in the anime if he had no emotions?
 
Even in the games, which as far as I know is the only continuity in which he claims to have no emotions, it's still VERY clear through his words and actions that they're there. He's just in denial.

Besides, even an emotionless person can smile. Smiling is a physical action.

As far as what's wrong with him, let's get out the DSM-IV and work our way down the list.
 
It's probably not genuine, but it's not a psychotic smirk either.

Well, thinking he is qualified to be the God of the new universe he wants to create probably results from a great deal of self-satisfaction.

And that usually warrants a smile.
 
Has he ever smiled when he's not pretending to be a good guy? I can't recall him smiling since he revealed his true identity.
 
Cyrus merely walls his emotions in the game. It's kind of evident by the way he speaks to trainers, and particularly you. He appears to have a lot of different thoughts as he speaks, as his character always suggests that he's pondering something. An example of that comes from his statements or phrases after battling with you. If anything, he masks his emotions because he has a lot of hidden meaning in his statements (it seems).

He's almost the Atton Rand of Pokemon, only much more detached of things.
