Aaand now for an analysis on the Japanese side of things.

Mezase Pokémon Master: Classic. It works well enough.

Rival: Featuring COTD's was cool. Better than the first one.

OK!: What is it with early Johto and great openings? My favorite of the original "Matsumoto Three".

Mezase Pokémon Master (Whiteberry Version): Cute. I like the chase sequence and the Pichu Bros putting in an appearance, but hate how much time Ash spends just standing there at the end.

Ready Go!: Whoo! :D Best of the original series. Love it so much.

Advanced Adventure: Catchy, but not great.

Challanger!!: A lot of people seem to be indifferent to this one, but I like it well enough. Good to have another Rica Matsumoto opening. Like it more than Advance Adventure.

Pokémon Symphonic Medley: I totally get chills when we get to the Mezase Pokémon Master part at the end. Worst of AG, but the visuals rock (love all the legendaries).

Battle Frontier: The decidingly kickass opening of the series. Explosions! Ash's Pokémon attacking the screen one-by-one! Lucario and Mew! Mystery Dungeon! Shadowy full shot of the Brains which was unfortunately never completed! And the song! I get pumped just thinking about it. :p

Spurt!: And the other decidingly kickass opening of the series! Love all continuity references with Ash's Pokémon. And another great song.

Together: A good song with a mix of decent and not-so-decent visuals to accompany it. But seriously, it lasted way too long. I kinda prefer Together2008.

High Touch: A really catchy song. It refused to leave my brain for a short while. o.o All the campiness was fun, although I would like for another "cool opening" soon. Team Galactic and J at the end rule.

My favorite? Uh. Three way tie between Ready Go, Battle Frontier, and Spurt, because I can't pick. Does it seem to anyone else that the openings generally improve in quality as you get further along in all three series...?

I like TV show openings and like talking about them. A lot. If I didn't limit myself, this could have been four or five times as long. :D

Every single one! I love especally love all the Advance Generation openings, especally Advance Adventure.

Oh man, I'm torn. So many of these are absolute classics...but ultimately, I think I've got to settle on "Ready Go". It seems like it best embodies the sense of adventure, excitement, and overall energy that I like to get from the show. (Which is ironic, considering that it debuted with the Rafflesia vs. Kereihana episode, one of the most boring and pointless fillers in the Jouto saga.)

"Ok!"
"Ready, Go!"
"The Rivals"

and a bunch more ^_^

"Ready Go" would be my #1 favorite on a listing, if only for its fervent beats and tone colored with cheery nature. Any sole issue I have with any of the other Japanese openings is paltry, not inerrable, and not worth mention, for I feel they're all good with especially but interestingly clear qualities to them. I feel they all capture the qualities of the series well, none of them being unctuous. They're quite drastically different (and quite differing in the way they're toned) from the English opening themes, though. Comparing Season 1's dub opening theme to "Mezase Pokémon Master" details out that account well enough for me. I don't necessarily hold a preference for either the English or Japanese opening themes; they both work well unto their own purposes in my view for being an encapsulation and odes for two good takes on Pokémon (4Kids' dub and the original Japanese format, and that's all I'll say on that for apparent reasons). But dub themes are obviously for another topic of conversation.

Challenger is by far my favorite, so I just voted for that. Ready Go is a pretty close second though. While I like it because of the music, I also get this end of series vibe from it, which kinda makes it sad (in a good way) as well. I'd probably put Spurt at third.

High Touch has surprisingly grown on me a lot. I just thought it was ok and loved the visuals at first, but the more I hear the song the more I love it.

I also like Challenger, but not as much.

My favorite ones are Spurt!, Challenger, OK!, and Battle Frontier. Mezase Pokemon Master holds a special place in my heart as well.

I would like Ready Go!, like a lot of you guys, but the song's been used as an insert song so many times that I'm kind of burnt out on it.

I feel the same way for Pokemon Symphonic Medley. IMO it's overused to the point of annoyance to me. Can't they use Challenger!! or Mezase Pokemon Master instead?

I remember first watching all the Japanese openings on Youtube a few years ago. They were so different, but they were also pretty catchy.

My Favorite would have to be the Battle Frontier one.

My favorite would be Spurt, then Battle Frontier, and then finally Mezase Pokemon Master, the latter isn't as played out as its English counterpart. It's odd that I actually like MPM, because generally love the first songs to sagas like Advanced Adventure and Together, but after a while the blatent advertising of the lyrics get to you.

High Touch is growing on me, especially Rica's parts. I just really wish Jessie had an insert song or something. Queen of Bitches, Greedy Psycho, whatever. Anything would be nice.

Silly, Duckgon, only under-age female coordinators get to have insert songs. Besides Ash, everyone else the writers don't give a shit about.

Anywho, I love Advance Adventure, Spurt, High Touch, and the first Kanto theme.

It's pretty baffiling how Kojiro got his own song but Musashi didn't. Was giving Megumi Hayashibara her own song too on the nose or something?

Brock gets Takeshi's Paradise, Meowth got Meowth's Party and Meowth's Song, and James had a song that I can't remember. I'm suprised Jessie, who's had tons of focus lately and who's seiyu has done tons of songs, they can't bother to give her at least one insert song over the course of the show.

I love High Touch, especially the extended version. It makes me want to buy the Japanese CD. Together2008 is also a close favorite.
