What is your favorite running gag in the anime?

^ Agreed. I never liked it when Misty and Max pulled Brock by the ear, it was annoying with both characters, but Croagunk is just so much better!

Croagunk inflicting Brock with severe levels of pain in almost every DP ep makes my day, and its a lot funnier and less annoying than Misty/Max pulling him by the ear.

I also like it how the writers do funny things, like Cynthia stared at Croagunk and it stopped. Or Croagunk trying to jab Brock but stopping because he jumps out of the way.

I have no favorite running gag, as they are all terrible and overdone now. My favorite one from yesteryear was probably Jigglypuff's marker.

I agree with Sleet.

And I actually liked Brock's thing with Misty and Max pulling his ear, since they'd add a funny comment. I dont really like physical humor, Im more of a sarcasm fan myself.

Definitely Brock's becoming lovestruck with any girl he sees.

And also when anyone falls to the ground, if someone says something stupid. Especially Ash.

Used to like Team Rocket's motto... but it hasn't been the same ever since they changed it twice.

Also, James' overaffectionate Pokemon. It'll always make me chuckle.

I also loved James crossdressing...which seem to have stopped at some point in early Johto.

Takeshi's flirting with girls has become so much funnier, because of Guregguru and the "bishie Takeshi". With Kasumi and Masato it was just annoying.

In a new episode they should have Ash see a beautiful girl this time...

-He would blush, scream, and flirt with the girl uncontrollably...
-The girl would just chuckle uncomfortably
-Dawn would angrily (or jealously) grab Ash's ear or one of ASH's pokemon would stop him this time.
-And Brock, watching Ash look like a fool in front of the girl would say..."Is that REALLY what I'm like?"

Would be funny cuz its out of character for Ash, would feed Pearlshipping speculation

Brock tops my running gags. Not James, didn't get that a lot.

Maybe in a fantasy world. Not this one.

James crossdressing was my favorite. It's a shame they stopped. Now none of the running gags appeal to me.

James' crossdressing got me every time, and those jokes about him had me laughing too, even though they were a bit predictable. And that wasn't as overdone as some other running gags.

And the Team Rocket motto, and Jesse's and James' obsession to say it every time.

And Ash's "Huh?". And, now that I'm on the subject, I saw a YouTube video, and I just realized how many times "Huh?" was said in The Rise of Darkrai. About 40-50 times or something.

Quite out of character, really, which is why we probably won't see it. Would be funny to see that side of Ash for once, though.

I enjoy the typical-anime joke of having the characters fall or crash to the ground and say..."WAAAH" whenever another character says something stupid.

I don't think that crossdressing was much of a running gag. It's not like he did it all the time in Kanto.

I honestly can't think of a running gag I really like. There really haven't been too many, and they're all kinda old by now.

What jokes? I haven't seen much of the dub past Orange Islands (aside from Diamond and Pearl of course).

Well, at least I enjoy when Ash does it, but they do tend to overuse it.

Well, it didn't happen that frequently, and that has stopped now, but I still consider it to be a running gag.

Well, all those "It didn't feel right to take that from behind"-style jokes in the dub, although now that you mentioned it, those didn't happen that often, but I think I remember almost every single one.

I thought you meant those, but I wasn't sure if there was something else I missed.

I hadn't thought about jokes that have been running gags. For some reason I still find funny when names get mispronounced. Like in that Perap episode where it didn't repeat any of what the Rocket-Dan said right. Not sure how much of a running gag that is.

Not really a running gag, I suppose, but funny nevertheless.

And basically everytime when they get Butch's name wrong.
