Well, in the poster. It shows Ash wearing a Z-ring along with Pikachu doing the exact same pose. So it appears that Greninja will be left back at Oak's lab and they're going to be focusing more on the bond with Ash and Pikachu this series.

Which is fine by me. It would be nice to see Ash bond with his first pokemon( Even though there's been TONS of bonding and development throughout the franchise) and i'm aware of that. But maybe they're going to make ash and pikachu become one with another. Although it wouldn't exactly be new material since they did it last Gen. But Z-moves are about becoming one with your pokemon just like mega evolutions were, just a little different.

But unlike Serena. I feel like Ash and Greninja had a deeper bond obviously. They way they wrote greninja's story from when he was just a froakie. How he ditched his previous trainers because he felt like they weren't worthy to be his trainer. To when he first jumped in and took the blast to protect pikachu I think it was, to this whole "bond-phenomenon" thing that's just as if not even more powerful than mega evolution.

All this character development for a POKEMON mind you. I don't see why they're going to focus on other things. Greninja could be extremely useful to ash in alola because it's a pokemon. And it would make sense to travel with him.

If Greninja went to Alola with Ash, I only see one outcome. He'd overshadow and steal the spotlight from Ash's Alola mons. I'm glad he appears to be staying behind.

Starting fresh in a new region is what we've all come to expect from Ash since his Hoenn days, even Infernape couldn't get a free pass from this.

Yes, but he'd get that much stronger. Greninja was one of the primary factors that brought him to the finals. Also, besides maybe a few episodes. All of Ash's Kalos pokemon became irrelevant throughout the series besides greninja. And a pokemon in alola will standout more and overshadow the rest of Ash's alola pokemon. So once again there's no reason that greninja should stay behind.

Well, it doesn't surprise me at all really. At the end of every series, Ash always leaves his newer Pokemon at Professor Oak's and its incredibly rare that he brings someone besides Pikachu with him to another region. If Greninja would join Ash in Alola, he'd obviously overshadow Ash's newer Pokemon.

gg frog, no re

Contrary to how it might seem, I don't hate, or even dislike Greninja. He's cool. but after hogging the spotlight from more interesting Pokemon getting so much attention in Kalos, I don't mind it being boxed. He had his story and got a special power-up, but now it's time for other Pokemon to get attention. I don't see why he needs to be dragged along for a whole journey just because of his development and power; he'd be stealing focus away from Pokemon who need that development more.

I'm not watching the show to see the same frog all the time, I'm watching it to see new Pokemon and their stories. We don't need another Pikachu, imo.

Plus we could always just see him at the League Oh wait nvm, I forgot. Well they could bring him back for post-League stuff like the Battle Frontier. (Unless the show chooses to forget Ash's old Pokemon again.)

But once again. A pokemon in alola will overshadow ash's other alola pokemon. So instead of giving us another version of ash-greninja. Just stick with Ash-greninja.

I'd rather have a new Pokemon do that than the same old one. An Infernape 3.0 would be more interesting than seeing the same Pokemon for another 3 years.

So....you want them to ditch the development and start with an alola pokemon that's going to get more development than the rest of ash's alola pokemon? That's just ash-greninja again, so just stick with the original

No thanks. Ash-Greninja became overpowered and took spotlight off his other Kalos team. Don't need it to do the same with alola team. It's arc is done and it can stay in the lab.

Yes.

Hey, why not just stick with Charizard, the real original? He has even more development than Greninja. Just slap a random super special transformation on him too.

It's not ditching Greninja's story. Greninja already had an arc and development, and whatever Bond Phenomena crap needs o be explored can take a back seat, because we have new Pokemon, characters, mechanics and tons of stuff we haven't seen before to be promoted. I'd rather not cling to the past like that, especially when they can just give Greninja focus later, at an appropriate time.

This show's a mess with screentime anyway, and it will shamelessly pour its heart and soul over one Pokemon more than others. Spotlight-stealers will happen, but at least having a NEW spotlight-stealer keeps the old ones (and Ash's team, and the show) from getting more stale.

But none of ya'll are answering the question. Obviously in alola, one of Ash's alola pokemon will form a special bond with him and overshadow ash's other alola pokemon and make them become just as irrelevant as noivern. So instead of watching a different bond, just stick with the one we have

I guess you got a point there. But even then ash's charizard returned. I think it was the only one to do that.

Sorry but Ash always leaves his pokemon at the lab before heading to next region. Aipom was an exception. Obviously we will see one of Alola pokemon that Ash has get more attention but I take that over that Greninja returning.

And I know that. But there's no reason for him to this time. He's got the most development besides pikachu obviously, and charizard. But charizard returned so... there is no reason greninja shouldn't.

We don't need a Charizard 2.0. Greninja could come back for an episode but not for a whole region. That would just awful in my opinion.

To be fair, Ash's Charizard didn't return for a whole arc - just a couple of battles, a reduced role on Ash's Unova team for some of Episode N, and another reduced role in the 20-episode island-hopping arc.

A lot of Pokemon have returned for stuff, though it was usually temporary. If Greninja were to return, I think it'd best be given a temporary spot on the team and not given too much focus.

But you're not explaining why! I get it you want to see it with different pokemon. But this whole bonding thing is just going to happen all over again. Everey region there's always one pokemon that completely overshadows the rest and makes them irrelevant.

And i'd be fine with that. Just no reason at all to keep it stuffed in Oak's lab
