What is your overall impression concerning DP Saga?

I wanted to create this thread before, but have decided to wait until the league ends so I could do it. What is your impression, your opinion on the saga and the all 191 episodes overall? Did you like the characters, the plot, the fillers, was the story of DP better than the previous ones, express your opinion.

Good points
- Character development. (Mostly Dawn)
- Plot of DP.
- Ash's rivals. (Best so far)
- Unique characters. (Creepy Conway, Evil Togepi, etc.)
- Less fillers, more funny ones.
- Ash's team.
- Episode arcs.
- Surprises it managed to pull out.

Bad points
- Rushed end of DP.
- Badly paced evolutions.
- Brock's team.
- Ambipom's departure

I'd say that despite being an improvement from AG, DP still has many things to improve and I hope we get those things in Best Wishes.

Anyway, DP was obviously the best series of Pokémon, by writing, plot and character development - anyone who deny this is in very serious denial (you can like older series better, that's your personal opinion... but you can't argue about facts like plot and character development)
Apparently the main writers (is that his role? that Tomioka...) will continue to BW, so I think we can expect the BW series to continue with the same level of writing (or even better, now that they can learn from the few mistakes of DP)
 
DP is my second favorite of all the sagas. While it was great for character development, I found it to be a little dull. But, it had cool rivals like you said, and had a few eps that made me lmao.

Haha sorry, but they're almost there. xP And yes, I hope Tomioka continues with his good writing in BW.
 
The one thing I hated about DP was the dialogue. Good god, was it a pain to hear.
 
DP was my favorite saga. Seriously, there is no denying the superior writing, character developement, and plot of DP compared to the previous sagas. IMO, the contest arc was much, much better, DP had way more unique characters such as Conway, and the fact that there were less fillers made the series the best yet.

Also, I can't forget Dawn and Piplup. Without them, DP wouldn't be DP. They were too awesome of characters.

The only problems against I had with DP was the fact that the ended was too rushed and that they put Ambipom on a bus when there was no need for it to leave.

Hell, the Japanese dialogue sounds like they weren't even trying, especially for the TRio and Ash and Co. How do I know this? I watch the Japanese version with subtitles. Not to mention I watch other Animes and when you hear Japanese stock dialogue once, you heard 'em all.
 
My overall impressiong of the DP saga is that it was very well written and planned until they reached the Sinnoh League where it was so obviously rushed so that BW could start but otherwise, it was very enjoyable.

Though I would like to add, I hope the writers don't have a years gap between the 7th gym and 8th gym like they did this saga, that was shocking.

Explain? I can't see a HUGE change in dialogue between the different series... I really don't get it... the only real change I noticed is with TRio starting with Season 10 and that was dub only

Gyms =/= the only important non-filler thing in Pokémon
That "gap" contained 325643543545235235325325325 important stuff and barely any true fillers at all

Have you ever watched Pokemon in Japanese WITH subtitles? TR's dialogue is as dull as turning on a lightbulb. And the acting isn't getting better. It's getting worse, in fact.
 
I don't watch it subbed, but I think I get most of the dialogue... well, the important stuff anyway... I can't see how the acting is bad, but meh... whatever... if you say so...

Admit it, without the 5minute Ambipom thing, the PingPong episodes would be lame filler. I count 17 fillers between the 7th and 8th gyms. Also, as the Elite 4 wasn't a part of the plot, can they be counted as filler?
 
I loved this series the best...


Pros

Ash character
Ash Pokemon
Character development
Ash had the best rivals
Fun arcs
New characters like Barry and Conway were great
Animation gets better each series
Pearlshipping

Cons

Dawn's rivals were bad
Dawn's rivals were hanndled horrible too
Some opeanings for D/P
Brock and Dawn's friendship, couldn't even tell they were friends

I don't care of an "important event" lasts a second or the whole ep, it makes the ep a non-filler
Also, I'd say E4 eps are "important" - they're often mentioned again and they refer to their previous appearances... (and they're game characters, but I'm not sure if that should count)
 
Let's see here.

Pros:

There were a lot of great arcs. Wallace Cup, HGSS, Galactic Finale, Summer School, Tag Battle, etc. Those were great and really fun to watch. And for the first two, it was awesome to see May again and Lyra for the first time.

A lot of the characters introduced were great. Barry, Paul, Conway, Team Galactic, and so on. They made DP better than it would have been without them.

There weren't many fillers, but there were a lot that I enjoyed. I personally love fillers, and a lot of the fillers in DP were so much fun.

Cons:

Dawn became too boring for me and way too quickly. I really liked her when DP first started, but then her personality fizzled out and she just became really bland.

The contest arc. Yes, it was written better than May's, but I didn't find it enjoyable. For some reasons, most of the contests this series bored me (I did like some, though) and I HATED Dawn's rivals, minus Ursula. Zoey and Kenny just made me want to throw my remote at the TV screen.

A good part of DP bored me. I can't really explain why, it just didn't have the charm that the older seasons had to me. But it was all right.
 
Cons: Ash's puberty was taken away from him. I guess 4Kids axed his balls when they
dropped
in Advanced generation.
Dawn was slightly like another May with a little more...priss.
Kenny was seriously overrated. He was awful. Can't believe they made his character.
Team Rocket was getting WAYYYY old.
Pros: Ash nearly always lost to Paul, the contest story arc was awesome, Dawn had awesome lesbian rivals, Ursula and Zoey were coolz, Paul was a great addition, as was Barry. And LYRA ROCKED THE WORLD!!
I wish she had replaced Dawn...but don't get me wrong, i love Dawn 4 eva.


I was good i suppose. But the novelty wore off because it was very similar to Advanced Generation.

- Paul & Barry
- Decent arcs like Wallace Cup, Johto Fest and Summer School.
- E4 + Cynthia
- Team Galactic

Cons:
- Brock being abandoned =[
- Ambipom
- DP made Scott aka Gliscor'd a douchebag
- Kenny

How is Kenny overated? No one as far as I know likes him LOL.
