What kind of character(s) would you like to see to travel with Ash?

Because of all the "What if ... would be Ash's travel friends"...

What would be the ideal travel friend for Ash? What kind of interaction would (s)he have? How would the character motivate Ash or learn from it? ...?

Anyone who is basically not a copy of all the current characters.

Characters compelling as Paul who are Competitive(I.E. league entering) Pokemon trainers with strong and diverse teams.

That is all. PLEASE WRITERS :(

I'd like to see a hyperactive character (like Jun or Bel) or a serious character (like Shinji or Cheren) travel with Satoshi, just as an experiment. We usually end up with somewhat levelheaded traveling companions each generation, so I'd like to see how Satoshi would react if he were to travel with someone too expressive, or not expressive enough.

I've always wondered what it would be like if Ash traveled with one of his rivals or a rival character from the games. In the games they usually say that your rival is your childhood friend so while being competitive at times, you're still close friends. Maybe Ash can have someone who is a good friend but at the same time really competitive with him.

Honestly, I would like them to have one of the male protagonists from the games travel with him. Even better, have both of the games protagonist from the game travel with him.

A type balance-obsessed freak (as in no Pokemon sharing the same typing) who acts cowardly, and a female trainer with a secret crush on Ash and some decent fanservice.

I would welcome a group of four again, but with two guys and two girls this time. The two girls can be the same age as Ash (or one of the girls being about a year older or so) and the guy can be around Brock/Cilan's age.

With are posts combined we form the perfect group. Only problem is one of the girls is undefined. maybe she can like Ash too or be the rival character from JeSashi's post

I'd love for a hardcore otaku who is allergic to the sun to get dragged into travelling with Ash against his will, and have to learn to cope with the challenges and dangers of travelling in the great outdoors. He could also attempt to teach Ash to actually think during battle, but have childish and far-fetched ideas about how the world works. Instead of a Pokemon, he would start out with a blue ventolin inhaler.

But the writers follow the Smurfette principle (only one female character in a group for a show targeted towards the male audience), which will what keep this idea from happening.

A male character that can argue and be competitive with Ash. SO far every female has argued with him but we haven't seen Ash argue with his male traveling companions much (except Max early on).

Most of the characters that showed up maybe one or two episodes were some of the ones I wanted to travel with Ash for different reasons. Because of the so many that I have in mind, I can't write them all.

I'd kill(okay maybe not) to see Ash travel with only League entering trainers and they are ways to get around seeing the same gym leader battle three times getting boring. I for one think it would be a lot more compelling if the show was focused more on pokemon battling.

I'd like for a serious character (like Paul or Trip) to travel with ash. Only difference is that the serious character is a girl this time. This would be a major first for a female companion and a bit of a breath of Fresh air. To male things even more interesting, the girl would be secretly working for the regions evil team. She doesnt get along with ash at first, but as the series goes on the two start to form a solid friendship and she really starts to wonder if being a part of the evil team is really the best thing for her. I think that would be a pretty good plot for the season after best wishes.

As for the male character, he can be a kind but wise cracking kind of person. He's the medic of the group. He also has a younger cousin who's female and has the regions rodent as a pet. She is around 4 or 5 years old and is very hyperactive and adventurous.

Travelling with a rival would be fun XD I want to see Ash travel with Gary or Paul XD They would practically argue every ten minutes LOL

An older, very powerful battler, female trainer, *cough* Hilda *cough* that can help Ash out on his journey and kinda put him in his place without having to say "What a kid" all the time like Iris, which is hypocritical because Iris is just as much of a kid as Ash is. Anyway, seeing a really experienced female trainer would brink some more maturity to the group and would act as a co-mentor with Cilan.

I agree. Although I do like Iris' character, I would also like to see a more mature/serious girl. Hilda would be perfect for the role, methinks :)

hilda should start traveling for the rest of the unova region. seeing how hilda is older she can teach ash the fundementles of battle since ash has completly forgoten them!
