Does anyone agree that Game Freak should have come up with a better name than Pokemon Black and White 2? Wouldn't DuskBlack and [Insert Adjective or word that would work out here]White be better names (just like FireRed, LeafGreen, HeartGold and SoulSilver). Maybe it's just me, but I just don't like how they just put the number 2 after the name. If you agree you can talk about it here or give ideas of what it should be called.

What kind of name has 2 at the end? The name of sequels.

._.

Word[Colour] is the naming convention of remakes and fan hacks. It doesn't make them anymore creative.

B2W2 are sequels, which hasn't been seen since GSC. D: They pick up on where BW left of, yes? It makes sense for them to be called "2".

^ Agree with the two above comments. Besides, if anything, DuskBlack sounds like a name more appropriate for a remake than a sequel.

FRLG, and HGSS are remakes. B2W2 are the first official remakes as they start off in the same region as their predecessors and continue straight from their storyline. Not even Johto games were called sequels as they started in a different region. (though they practically are)

Gen V remakes...in the year 2020!

Just kidding. Thinking about that really hurts my brain.

If Game Freak wanted to, they could have called them a silly name like BlackGray and WhiteGray. :p In all seriousness, the 2 just emphasizes that they are squeals to Black and White. Like Black and White, the 2 makes the titles simple and classy.

What everybody said, plus the fact that traditional third versions were always rehashes of the two paired versions with an extra subplot concerning the third mascot and some other extra features and graphical upgrades.

Putting 2 on the end is fine, as, you know, these are sequels. Calling it Dusk Black and Pure White or whatever would be as logical as calling Super Mario Galaxy 2 "Super Mario Galaxy: The Journey Continues".

Yeah, BW2 are sequels, not remakes. Since we've never seen sequels like this before, putting a 2 at the end is better than calling them something like 'Dusk Black' (which does sound more appropriate for remakes).

I love how films sequels have mostly been "[Name] 2/3/4/etc" for years now and no one gives a damn, but the moment a game does it it's like the end of the world.

The fact that Pokémon has never had a direct sequel before (GSC/HGSS) are debatable) makes it stand out more as well.

But games have always had numbered sequels.... It's not about a numbered sequel to a game, it's about a numbered Pokemon sequel, and there's just a very small group of fans that are unhappy/confused about it.

And a small number of fans still didn't get it was sequels given the 2 in the title and being outright stated it was--and yet people want Game Freak to have used remake name conventions?

The only way they could have made it more obvious is by calling it Pokemon Black 2: The Sequel and Pokemon White 2: The Sequel

The Johto games were in a different region, with different starters and different gym badges. They acknowledged continuity, that's the only connection to the first gen.

BW2 are in the same region, with the same starters, and most of the gym badges from the previous games.

GSC/HGSS also continued the Team Rocket storyline and had all of RBGY/FRLG's badges (albeit post game), so you could argue that they were also sequels - which is evident by their prototype names being "Pocket Monsters 2"' I think GameFreak intended for B2W2 to be the GS to BW.

Oh, now I get it. Sequels and remakes. I thought Black and White 2 was just playing through the Unova region with a different character and a few changes to fit what year you're in. I didn't think about it too much.

I think they could have been a little bit more imaginative, but at least it gets the point across that they're sequels!

Gamefreak could have called it Pokemon Dimming Black and Royal White.
