this is only a poll to see what people would want. You have 16 votes.

...Why did you make this thread, and then make three separate threads for nearly the same topic?

I'd like Grass/Rock, Fire/Fairy, and Water/Fighting. They're all rare (or nonexistent, in the case of Fire/Fairy) type combinations that I'd like to see explored further, and what's a better chance to do that than to give these to the final stages of a starter trio?

On top of this, their secondary types give this threesome the chance to reverse the Grass/Fire/Water starter offensive triangle. Rock beats Fire, Fairy beats Fighting, and Fighting beats Rock. It would create an interesting dynamic.

You posted essentially the same topic four times in a row.

Calm down. We just got US/UM. Be patient. Can you enjoy the new games for a minute?

Everyone's free to start discussing the next gen already, maybe they didn't even buy USUM. Least you could do is at least make an on-topic post ;)

patient yes, but why not discuss potential thoughts to make people even more patient?
Disscusions should create patience they shouldnt take it away.+ if the creators may read us, maybe we could be their muses.

Is it possible to have a starter who isn't water, grass, fire or electric in any part?

I don’t think so, since starters are meant to teach new players the basics, and there isn’t a type trio which is as intuitive and 'perfect' as the water, grass, Fire trio. Almost everyone knows at a glance that Fire>Grass>Water>Fire.
Electric is the exception since it’s the type of the mascot and yellow followed the anime.

Fire, Rock, and Steel. Fire is super effective against steel, Steel is super effective against rock, Rock is super effective against fire. Other way around, Steel resists rock, Rock resists fire, Fire resists Steel. Basically the same thing as the type trio but a bit less iconic and really weird, too
Though I still highly doubt that Water, Grass, and Fire will be replaced.

As for new typings for future starters, I want to see a Water/Fighting type starter so all three types can have a fighting type starter. Grass/Psychic would be cool, too, or maybe Grass/Rock. Fire gets all the special types so I want a pure fire type final evolution besides Typhlosion

Pure Fire that's a quadruped
Grass/Electric
Water/Psychic

Judging by the recurring themes of our starter trios: Grass will be based at least partially on an extinct animal. Fire will be another animal of the Chinese Zodiac. Water will have a sort of weapon theme.

My hopes
Grass: Moose with a hint of Megaloceros (part Dark)
Fire: Snake with some Mesoamerican influence (part Fairy)
Water: Lobster with a pirate theme (part Steel)
Then again, these are already my Fakemon starters for my made-up region.

And for the love of Arceus: I NEVER want to see any more Fire-type starters that become part Fighting, three in a row was bad enough! If they make another, wait till at LEAST generation XIII (assuming Pokémon lasts that long as a franchise).

Yeah, it’s weird, and not intuitive. You need to explain how Fire is super effective against steel and steel is SE against rock. While all it takes is a glance to grasp the advantages with the current trio.
And this wouldn’t fit in with the wishes of the fanbase which wants a different trio since this contains Fire, which was in the previous trio.

Ground, Rock, Steel, Fairy, Flying blend well with all three types.
Dark, Psychic and Fighting too, but they would be a bit repetitive.
Dragon too, but it would seem like fanservice.
Bug would be interesting to see, as long as the Pokemon has the type since its first stage.
Electric only blends well with water, its combinations with Fire and Grass are better for gimmick mons.
Poison only blends well with water and grass, its combination with Fire is better for gimmick mons.
Ice only blends well with water, and grass if the region is icy. Its combination with Fire is better for gimmick mons.
Ghost is a type that centralizes the Pokemon's design on it, I prefer it outside starters.
Normal doesn't even deserve to have a starter.

That said, my choices would be Grass/Steel or Grass/Rock, Fire/Fairy and Water/Flying or Water/Poison.

I think part of what makes Fire, Water, and Grass so good as a trio is because their usual color schemes are also quite distinctive from another. (Not to mention they're all primary colors of light) A Fire/Rock/Steel trio could be harder to distinguish because their colors overlap far more often. (Fire and Rock can be seen in the Red and Brown sections of the PokeDex, and Rock and Steel in Grey) Color isn't all that important in battles, of course, but since they're the first Pokemon some players will use, it's quite helpful to make the concept of the types stick out a little more.

I don't expect this to happen in the games, but I think a Fairy/Fighting/Steel triangle could fit both the super effective triangle and the distinctive color pattern. (They'd be unbalanced defensively, though-Fairy resists Fighting, but Steel doesn't resist Fairy, and Fighting doesn't resist Steel)

Steel type doesn't resist Fairy? Wow either that was a mistake or I'm stupid

Anyways, they always could do what they did in Gen 6, their secondary typing also having an advantage triangle. So I guess Fairy/Fighting/Steel works as secondaries. Though I hope the fire type doesn't get the fighting type if that's the case

they last visited caves in france? what kind of animals were on those paitings?

Lascaux? Horses? feel that some Alolan Pokemon could be in gen 8 especially horses.
Southern france is known for tie ins with spain and african culture, we will see what it will be.

In caves lived sabertooth tigers, lions, bears.

Grass/rock would be good neutral to flying and poison.
Grass/steel also would be good neutral to flying and to ice.
Grass/electric neutral to flying.

Chesnaught might be based on a glyptodont.
