Has anyone ever wondered what level Ash's Pikachu is right now? So many seasons have passed and Ash has battled so many trainers that I'm sure his Pikachu would be level 100 by now. Pikachu should be strong enough to blast through anything in its path, but it's not.

Also, anyone ever wonder about what levels the Pokemon in the anime are? I know it's different than the video game, but the issue with levels not being consistent has always bothered me...

Re: Something that's been bothering me

The anime doesn't follow levels. Hence, I'm not going to even try guessing.

Re: Something that's been bothering me

Yeah what Ryu said. There is no point in guessing because in the Orange Island's Pikachu took out Dragonite but get's owned by Gary's Eevee...

Re: Something that's been bothering me

Pikachu makes the anime ridicolous! He beats a Dragonite and then he lose against Paul's Elekid!

Re: Something that's been bothering me

he beat Dragonite after it had been weakened by Charizard, Squirtle and Tauros.

Nope you haven't watched School of Hard Knocks ep before have you cause in the same ep Giselle clear as day says Pikachu is Level 25 :)
<insert facepalm picture here>

That episode is old as hell. Those cards are from this year.

Will the people ever understand that there aren't freakin' levels nor stats in the anime?

Pikachu was lvl 45 last July. With this card, we can say it's canon.

Except...we can't.

Why are people so obsessed with what levels the pokemon are anyway? Even if they did come right out and say that so-and-so is at a certain level, it wouldn't mean a thing since the writers would just ignore it half the time.

Ash's Pikachu doesn't have a level. The anime people mess up it's power every series so that Ash won't thrash every single opponent he's faced with, just to make the show more interesting. It gets a downlevel every series, as is stated on Bulbapedia.
Judging from the level a Pikachu would probably be at this stage in the games, I'd estimate it might be around level 50, but only for the Sinnoh series. It'll be level 7 by the next region, don't you worry.

Hello,
I am about to begin work on a similar project for a client of mine. From what I can tell there will be significant overlap in terms of features.

you're lucky

I'd guess it doesn't have a level. Really, I think the last time they mentioned levels was in Johto when Ash said something like "I caught that Snorlax when it was at level 50!" to Misty. It was something like that.

We don't know.
We're not even sure if the whole speculation on Pikachu's "level" being reset every time Ash goes to a different region is confirmed.
About the Dragonite discussion, Pikachu had only beaten it when the former was weakened by the attacks of three other pokemon (Tauros, Squirtle, and Charizard). Had it been at full strength, untired from the onslaughts of three pokemon and continually using its attacks, Dragonite probably would have defeated Pikachu.
Meanwhile, during Pikachu's battle with Eevee, the latter used Reflect (albeit haxed) and Double Team to prevent Pikachu's high-speed offensive assaults from taking effect.
Pikachu's "level" according to the released Movie 12 promos is not confirmed in any way. There's no point guessing. Having Pikachu lose to nearly every opponent these days is meant for entertainment purposes. If the level system was really important, Pikachu could just get through every battle effortlessly. Honestly, Pikachu isn't all that important anymore. Most of Ash's on-screen development focuses on the 4 (possibly 5 with Gible) remaining pokemon in his party.

Because, well, they probably couldn't figure out a way to make it consistent with the rules of the anime.
