In your own words, explain 'why' if you so desire.

My response: RF transmissions for radio, television, and communications. It still baffles me how radio signals can pass through most solid objects. I understand the theory and all, but how something we cannot 'see' can travel through glass and walls still boggles my mind.

1. Electricity (or more specifically, the ability to harness it)

2. Computer chip/computers

3. Game Boy and Pokemon :)

The basics:
1. Electronics
2. Fire
3. Nuclear fission
4. Flight

I'd have to say computers actually. I'm not talking just about personal computers but if you think about it, just about everything electronic is run on computers. Heck, even our cars are controlled by computers.

The Printing Press, the one made/perfected in the Middle Ages. It revolutionized the speed of information to allow faster processing at a lower cost. It could be argued that it helped increase literacy rates due to books becoming cheaper to own.

^Argh, why didn't I think of the wheel?

Here's more.
The Internet, which has completely changed the way we live. It has shrunk the world to the size of your fingertips; you're able to have meetings with your boss from around the world!

Data recording media: CDs, DVDs, floppies (yes I still use them).

Water bottle.

Gunpowder.

Electromagnetism.

The technology of mathematics (holy crap this is useful as heck)

The lever, the pulley, the inclined plane, the wedge, the screw, and the wheel and axle.

Printing press

Transistors (used in almost everything, in fact, CPUs are made of them)

Telescope

I'd say transistors, since early computers and televisions couldn't work without them. Now we have silicon chips.
