This should be made into more diffrent polls but maybe someone will be not so lazy like me.

Voted for:

Ultra Beasts - I know that something like Alola Forms had been a fan-wish for a long time, but this is mine. Otherworldly, completely alien creatures with bizarre, pseuo-Lovecraftian designs were always something I quietly hoped to see in the series, but never realistically thought could happen. It's like Ohmori canonized my dreams. Bonus points for the (probably unintentional) D-Reaper similarites; that was my favorite storyline ever when I was a kid.

Alola Forms - And these are of course, quite cool and a brilliant idea in their own right. I'll admit that I do prefer them to Mega Evolution as far as methods of "recycling" old Pokémon go, but Megas are good too. I just really like the amount of thought and story that seems to go into the Alola Forms, whereas Megas generally just follow a line of getting bigger and stronger and flashier and spikier.

New Pokémon/Abilities/Moves (why would anybody not choose this over solely "new Pokémon"?) - Can't ever go wrong with new Pokes. Especially now that the Abilities and moves have more of a tendency to reflect a particular Pokémon's traits or personality (like with Grass Pelt, Gooey, Innards Out, Sand Compaction, etc.).

The plot! While at the beggining I was "meh" after seeing that initiation ritual now I'm dying to see all the characters and all the contrasts in action. The story seems to be very engaging. The Pokemon have been nice too.

Ultra Beasts because they're fascinating. I wanna see what is done with them.
Alolan Forms because this opens a whole new way to give life to old pokemon! Not just some gimmick that you can only look at in battle.
New Pokemon, New abilities, New Moves because this is what's most important to me with a new generation. New pokemon and new ways for pokemon to battle and things like that.

Z-moves are meh. Just another one-and-done per battle effect like Mega evolution.
Mega Evolution was a cool concept but most pokemon that got them were just uninteresting to me. Did Pesudo-legendaries and other legendaires REALLY need another pedestal to stand on? I'd have preferred it focus on other pokemon like how Pidgeot and Beedrill got them. Another annoying thing is that pokemon like Alakazam and Beedrill got mega evolutions, but pokemon many people consider their counterparts (Machamp and Butterfree) didn't get one. Heck Slowbro got on and SLowking didn't. Latias and Latios look basically identical. I'm also worried it's not going to get any more attention and if it doesn't these issues I have with it won't be handled and it'll just be.. that weird thing that happened in Gen 6.

I'm very excited about the region and plot, though. The region gives me a world to explore and learn about, the plot is what hopefully will keep me playing this game.

New Pokemon, Alolan Pokemon, Ultra Beasts.

I would have added as poll options:
- Plot
- Region
- Battle Royal
- Island Trials
- Aether Foundation
- Team Skull
- Z-Moves

Rather have separate options for Z-Moves and new moves.

I love new pokemon of all types. Megas, Region Variants, or just flat out new mon. I love the idea of giving old pokemon new options in particular but I wish they didn't seem to be ignoring megas for now after they were such a big thing.

I do like the idea of actually being able to use more than one of the new old pokemon in battle, which is my main disappointment as far as megas go.

I worry though about the new forms not being much better or even worse the the originals (a slower ice and steel Sandslash doesn't sound so good at all)! At least megas were always straight up upgrades.

I went with Megas, Ultra Beasts, and New Pokemon. I like Alolan forms too, but I find these to be more interesting, particularly since a few recently revealed ones are just turning into recolors rather than genuinely interesting variants.

Megas are interesting because they give an old Pokemon an interesting new update that you can choose to opt out of. The Pokemon can be both in its original form out of battle, and its Mega within battle. I see it as a win-win situation and I wish they would reveal at least a few for this gen.

Ultra Beasts because they are something completely new for the series that I know nothing about, and I am just SO curious to learn more about these. Particularly UB-01's connection to Lillie. I find new things to be really fascinating.

And just new Pokemon. Because that's the entire reason I'm into the series. So I can see all kinds of monster designs and find the ones that appeal to me most. I'm really into seeing all kinds of creatures and animals, and the series satiates that. I didn't choose new moves and abilities though because honestly, I don't really care about that at all. I just care about the designs.

I have more problem with its name "Sand" , they could have made it a cousin with "Snow" themed names atlest.
For me the type change is good ice/steel even if slow need to be done and tested somehow plus we dont know what abilities and moves it gets this generation. (Powder, if explosive then maybe from the ground???)
I also think its fishy they dont showed us some megas, but who knows? maybe they have a trump card? could be that we may get two new megas : one for Venusaur(Sun) and one Blastoise(Moon)?(for the Charizard X and Y thing in gen VI)

The ability could be good, but otherwise you don't need test to know that a 4x weakness to 2 common attack types is bad news. Plus ice types that aren't focused on hitting hard and fast don't tend to be good so being slower is nowhere near a plus either (though they probably will try to offset this with increases to other stats but dropping speed is still one of the worst things they could do).

At this point I don't think they will introduce any new Megas this gen. Not only are they not advertising them at all compared to the other new things but last gen we only got around 70 new mon, and that was probably because they were designing the Megas instead. With all the new pokemon, the Alola mon, and now the Ultra Beasts, I don't think they are focusing on them at all this gen. Plus Charizard got 2 megas because of ridiculous popularity I don't think gamefreak actually cares about giving them all the same amount.

What if they give it a new ability that grants it immunity to fighting(some kind of steel are very hard)?
or a ability that causes the oponent to freeze by physical contact?
Heat Proof?(this would be too lame)
it could get Aqua Ring, Spiky Shield?(snow melts and changes forms)
I mentioned Powder the last time.(best way against fire types, would be better if it would work longer(3 turns) if a fire move wasn't used on that turn)
maybe a new move against fighting types?(there are strategies to half those too)
If Icy Terrain(Snowy Terrain) could rise its speed , sp. def and make it gain hp or something?
If it gets a ability to double speed through terrain(Snow Rush) , then lets see Sandshrew 40 and Sandslash has 65 speed, if the ice/steel alolan versions get 35 and 60 to make the regular kanto forms hit first to make them more even, then they would have enough speed against more threds, lets hope that also a icy terrain cast move will be there, not only a terrain cast ability on a other pokemon.

Plus we may get in future a faster ice/steel pokemon but with less hp and defences...
It's not that bad typing if a pokemon would learn Aqua Tail , rock type moves or a flying type move and be really fast and good stats it's not that bad at all it depends how you over think that.

For them it would be a great way to satisfy all fans if they would give all the starters those second megas too in future generations, maybe in this too.
Popularity always changes with new things, it should not be onesided , some would get more if there usefulness and desings would change.(that hapens also with new abilities and moves they get every generation)

It's hard to beat brand new Pokemon. Nothing else really comes close in my opinion.

Although I'll admit the Ultra Beasts definitely have me curious. So I'd probably put them in second place.

Alolan forms would be more interesting to me if they weren't Kanto exclusive. As it stands I'm feeling a bit "eh" on them right now.

I am extremely fond of the Alolan forms. It introduces variety and embraces the science of adaptation. It seems more natural. Plus, we get to see some Pokemon classics from first Gen in a new way.

Yeah like I said a compensating ability would be good, but I'm not factoring that in right now because we don't know about it's ability is, and without one what we do know is bad. The thing is Aqua Tail and flying/rock type moves wont be much help if any fighting type or fire type can hit it once before it does anything because then it'll probably die. And thats a 4x weakness so it probably will and most probably can.

You might be right though and they give it something that will help with these problems, maybe something equivalent to thick fat or even an immunity to fire (maybe it's like the Never Melt Ice) but judging on what we know now, no it doesn't look good.

You're also right that Ice and Steel doesn't seem bad in concept. It just needs to be a glass cannon pokemon, or even a hard hitting fast and defensive pokemon since it has 2 glaring weaknesses. Steel would be very useful against fairies if it had the right moves.

As for Venusaur and Blastoise, take it up with Game Freak not me. Ask the Smash devs to put Iveysaur and Squirtle back in Smash while you're at it. I agree that it would be cool, but I doubt we'll even get new megas this time at this point, and if we did get any I certainly wouldn't expect Venusour and Blastoise
