What non-starter would you choose?

I don't know if a thread about this already exists... if it does, just lock this...

In the pokemon world, every trainer has had their first pokemon, but obviously, not every trainer began its journey with a "starter", since those pokemon are hard to find and are given to a trainer by the professor of the region, and not everyone has the privilege of choosing one of three "special" pokemon to begin their trip.

So, the point of this thread is what non-starter pokemon would you choose to begin your adventure if you were a trainer...

If I were to start my trip in Johto I would choose a Phanpy, and, if I were to begin my adventure in Hoenn, I would choose a Ralts.

(I didn't talk about Kanto and Sinnoh because I would travel to these regions later... I prefer Johto and Hoenn to begin an adventure...)

I would definately want to begin a journey from Hoenn. And I would want to start with Wurmple, so I could get a Dustox.
 
Most Pokémon that I like are hard to come by at the beginning of a journey. That being said, if I started from Pallet Town I would want to start with a Staryu. They're pretty common in Gen III.
 
I'd definitely choose either Ralts or Mareep.

That's what I did in Emerald, anyway. Trashed my Torchic ASAP and caught a Ralts. :p
 
I'd like to start off with either a Skitty or a Meowth because I'm a big cat lover, and the two of them happen to be my favorite Pokemon.
 
This is a really interesting topic... I think I'd go for Swinub. It was one of the first gen II Pokémon I knew about, thanks to some TCG cards from my cousins in Saipan.
 
If I had to get a common pokemon to start... well probably it wouldn't really be a common pokemon on the first place. Probably one that belonged to someone or an egg or something...
In the case I'd have access to rather rare pokemon becouse of this, then a Dratini all the way of course.

If I had to catch some random one on the wild... Pidgey and/or Caterpie in Kanto (those are the first two anyone catched and I am no exception), Spinarak in Johto (basically becouse it's cute and likes night. I'd get completelly destroyed at the very first gym...), and a Poochyena in Hoenn (maybe a Ralts too...). I wouldn't go to Sinnoh until later...

Of course, these are the first pokemon I catch anyways...
 
Kanto: I would love to have either a Dratini or a Vulpix to start, but if it had to be common I'd say Pidgey

Johto: But I LIKED the Johto starters! But I pick Hondour or Larvitar.

Hoenn: Ralts, Linoone, Trapinch, Bagon, or Shroomish

Sinnoh: Gible, Shellos, Buizel, or Shinx.
 
I would have to say either Trapinch or Pikachu if either were possible. If it were a more common Pokemon, probably Zigzagoon or Poochyena. If I could somehow get my hands on a Scyther, that would be like my "dream starter".
 
having a Dratini,Larvitar or Eevee would own.

but i would love a Sneasel or Murkrow
 
Gen 1: Nidoran or Poliwag.

Gen.2: Ledyba, Togepi, or Murkrow (if possible...)

Gen.3: Zigzagoon (or maybe Raltz)

Gen.4: Not sure, maybe Buneary.


Any generation: Eevee
