Simple as that, just post about your best or most common HM slaves you used or are currently using.

My most notable examples are probably and Impoleon and the HGSS red gyarados.
The Impoleon was a friends starter he gave to me, and I just needed someone for all the Water HMs. While I was doing that I realized he also would be a good cutter (cause, y'know, steel arms). Later on he also learned Rock Smash.

The red gyarados was the only water type I had at the time, and I was too lazy to go back or catch another one, so it just learned became my surf waterfall whirlpool slave.

Right now I'm using a Linoone in ORAS, but there's really nothing interesting about him. Well, except that he learns surf, which quite surprised me.

I don't really use official HM slaves. Usually while going through the game I naturally catch a lot of Pokemon, so whenever I need to use an HM move in the field I'll just go to the PC, grab a random Pokemon that can learn the move I need, HM it, get to where I need to go, then re-box it.

In OR, I actually taught my Walrein all of the water HM moves and my Shelgon Strength, while the DexNav Poochyena was my Rock Smasher. Currently in AS though, I've got an Aron as my HM user and it'll probably stay that way.

I used a Linoone too (started out as a Zigzagoon). Named her Sally, as in Sally the Slave. I was so glad when I figured out that he learned Surf, I was worried I'd have to bog my Swampert down with a crappy HM (although I think I ended up having to teach him Dive).

That's a really good strategy! I never thought of that! That way, you could have six battlers and no need to have a constant slot in your party for a slave.

I never use HM slaves. I catch a team of 6 varied Pokémon, distribute all HM's evenly, then keep Surf and Fly while deleting the rest off of my team and making them battle ready. But with Soaring being a thing now, I don't even need to keep those.

But since I haven't fully explored Hoenn yet, I do have my Battle Resort Sharpedo and a random Tropius as my HM slaves for now.

In Platinum, I had a Golduck on my team with four HM moves. He wasn't really an HM slave though, he was part of my team and just happened to be able to learn a lot of HMs. I taught him some better moves after beating the game.

I do that too. Sometimes I'll also give a random Pokemon dive or waterfall, just because it would be redundant to give the water type on my team both of those moves and surf.

My HM slaves...kinda

In Pokémon FireRed version, I had my Charizard that had Cut and Fly but later I made him forget Cut. In Platinum my Empoleon had also Cut and Surf, while a Machoke had Rock Climb, Strength and Rock Smash. In SoulSilver my Feraligatr had also Cut and Surf while my Red Gyarados had Whirlpool or Waterfall I haven't used that Pokémon in a long time. In Pokémon White I learned from past mistakes and never taught my Samurott any HMs since it would render him useless. In Y I simply caught a Bidoof in the starting area of the game but I caught when I needed to go to Victory Road so I simply evolved him to Bibarel in order to use Rock Smash, Strength and Cut. Lapras knows Surf and my Talonflame knows how to Fly. I forgot to mention this but also in FireRed, I also have a Machoke that knows Rock Smash, Strength and another move which I don't remember much since I haven't played FireRed lately.

If I'm Nuzlockeing I will not have a HM slave, however I usually end up having a HM slave when I'm not doing a Nuzlocke...

R/S/E - Mightyena
D/P/Pt - Rampardos
X/Y - Lapras
HG/SS - Tentacruel (ugh, Whirlpool...)

However they usually have 1 move that is good... except Rampardos.

I used to use the typical default normal type in the beginning of each game. (Sentret, bidoof etc) Recently I stopped using HM slaves though.

Only one that comes to mind was Golduck in Platinum. I taught it both the Water HMs plus strength.

I have a Tropius and a Goldeen that I use in ORAS, but usually in other games it tends to be something like a Bidoof or a Pidgey.

Right now I'm using a Linoone in ORAS, but there's really nothing interesting about him. Well, except that he learns surf, which quite surprised me.

Linoone is very interesting! Give it a salac berry, use belly drum, because of gluttony it eats the salac berry. It now is fast and has amazing attack. Those things interest me.

But to answer the question, Sharpedo is an amazing HM slave. In ORAS, even after beating the entire game, I can still use it for thief (although not an HM, it is still a useful move that isn't really a good move). It also gets surf, waterfall, and dive.

I never was fond of using HM slaves, it makes me feel bad...
I usually just have random Pokemon that I'm using learn the various HMs. That way I always have them on me, and they've never rendered a Pokemon useless or unable to battle. Rock Smash actually wound up being a good choice for Camerupt in Omega Ruby because of the contests.

Huh true, I've actually seen a similar Linoone set involving belly drum and some other berry, I think a sitrus. It did look interesting, but in my first statement I just ment it in terms of HM usage ;)

I only really had HM slaves for the first three gens, but my Linoone in Sapphire was the best trained HM slave. XD In Blue, I used Paras and in Silver...I can't exactly remember, but it might have been another Paras. xD

You can never have just one HM slave, for two reasons. 1) There are more HM moves than move slots. 2) No pokemon can learn them all anyway.

Sinnoh was awful for all those field moves. In order to re-explore areas you'd still require Strength or Rock climb. In Platinum i have a spare Lickitung (named Miley) with Cut, Rock Smash, Rock Climb, and Surf. Drifblim has Defog and Fly. (Side note - i love flying on a Drifblim as much as Silverwynde loves flying on a Golurk.) Battle Revolution gave me a Pikachu which i evolved and now has Flash, Dig, Volt Tackle and Surf (ideal for cave exploration). Bibarel has Strength and Waterfall. Various others have Surf, Fly and Waterfall too just because they are great useful moves.

Unova was at least nice enough to introduce boulders that stayed moved, meaning after they all fell into their holes in the ground, i could erase Strength altogether. Good for me because i find it bland and underpowered. I'd rather use Return or Body Slam or even Facade or something.
White one has all my Unova-native pokemon, so apart from my Samurott using Surf and Archeops using Fly, the other moves (including dig and flash) are dedicated around the element monkeys.
Black two requires use of a spare Lapras for Strength (I haven't finished exploring yet), Surf, Waterfall and Dive. Still, many other pokemon have Fly, Surf and Waterfall for the same reason as above.

The only two games that I've really had an HM slave for have been the Sinnoh games and ORAS. In Sinnoh, I used Bidoof. In ORAS, I've used a Linoone. Usually the only HMs I teach to the slaves are Cut, Rock Smash, and Rock Climb (if present). I can find decent enough excuse to use the rest of the HMs as battle moves. I also rarely keep them in my party. I store them when they aren't needed.
