And by that, I don't mean whatever hints people interpet, I mean followed up on where there is mutual interest between two characters to the point where no one in the fandom could deny it.

Something like Norman/Caroline, considering the two are married and have two kids together, nobody in their right mind would consider that "ship" uh...debateable.

But they're married characters so ignoring them for the moment, which of the major character ships do you think have a real (read: not fanfiction wise) chance of being followed up on in the anime?

May/Drew. Think about how much their relationship developed. I think things would have gone a step further had they not left for Johto and therefore left the anime.

Realistically, the show probably wont have main characters hook up (with the exception of characters no longer traveling with the group) until the final season. So, the way I see it, After the show is cancelled my guess is they would probably make a final movie to wrap up the anime as a whole. In that movie I would guess Ash finally realizes something about Misty.

Im not a huge shipping fan, but I just always remember thinking Ash and Misty would realize they liked each other (even if not hooking up) by the end of the series (or when Misty left the group).

Well, Drew/May I'm feeling pretty sure about will end up canon. I have absolutely no interest in either character, let alone the ship, except for May's mothering tendencies, which I find adorable, but again, that's the only thing that intrigues me about her. So I'm not biased. I've just seen enough to make me feel that whatever the ship is called would pull through if any were confirmed.

I also won't be surprised if Handymanshipping or Orangeshipping goes through. Handymanshipping's pretty likely because it wouldn't need to be focused on, since..oh, which sister is it, Daisy? and Tracey aren't main characters.

I still will be surprised if Ash ever hooks up with anyone, what with his focus being completely on Pokemon and still being clueless about why people get all goofy over love. I like clueless, canon Ash, not 'well, MAYBE..if this happened..or that happened..maybe..' fanfic/fanart Ash. I won't be bothered if it happens by any means, though, unless it's a slapped together thing.

I still think Rocketshipping may have some sort of a chance. It's as canon as canon gets in an official manga, that has to count for something. And even if it doesn't end up being canon, I just can't see Jessie, James and Meowth splitting up for good... well, EVER, unless something very, very drastic happens. Rocketshipping may as well be the default option.

Unless, um, of course, if Jessie or James were suddenly to get into bestiality... uh, which will probably never be canon for them. (Thankfully.)

And I have to say, I don't know if it'll ever be followed up in the anime, but I think Contestshipping has a strong case going for it.

(I'd also like Orangeshipping to be canon but that will never happen. Oh well, there's always fanart, seeing how I can't find fanfiction.)

I think the only Pokemon ship in the anime that has a chance is Contestshipping. For of course, their already traveling with eachother in Johto and it's quite obvious that they do or might have some feelings for eachother already as seen in the Hoenn saga.

But of course, Pokeshipping also has a chance. Along with Rocketshipping, even though in Oro's manga it becomes canon, or at least I think it's Oro's manga. -.-;;

Ono. Ono Toshiro. Who I wouldn't love so much if not for that ending (HOVERCAR) because I'm allergic to boobs.

I hope and honestly think no ship will become canon, where they become boy/girlfriend or get married. And when you think about it better that way, so all shippers will be happy and believe what they want.

I do believe Ash will be kiss again by Misty, thrus leaving it the most likely ship to happen AFTER the show ends.

Of course reread the topic I know Ash doesn't like misty romanticly, but just because he doesn't kiss her back is happy to be kiss by her doesn't mean he will never like her back.

I think the problem with Rocketshipping is the current writers really don't seem to be as interested as much. I've noticed the ship seemed to stop being hinted once Orange ended, and there really wasn't much through AG or now in D/P.

Sure, you still see Jessie and James hug sometimes (mostly because they're in fear of being beat up by a wild Pokemon...the Breloom in the ep where May's Torchic evolved comes to mind), but otherwise, there's not much.

There's also the fact that the writers are sorta portraying Jessie as a wacko in D/P, even moreso than usual. Meowth and James are reluctant to go along with her plans a lot more than they used to. I don't know if this is something planned or the writers are just having fun.

What Luna Tiger said.

I have a feeling we might not see Drew again soon unless he and May are traveling together, I can't see how he would show up. Wondering how May will show up again, like Misty did at his house or for something she was invited to that Ash was going to too.

Only ships we're the characters are shown getting together again will be follow up on.

If any even though it been ages since ash and misty were together, i still think there character were design to be together, though being distance it difficult but somehow and someway i feel those are the two destined to be together if any, contestshipping also come as the same sceanario to myself aswell

In all honesty. The writers seem to be trying really hard to stop any and all posibilities of any ships happening.

Most likely would be Rocketshipping, they dont have any problem with physical contact and they have stayed together since child hood.

Drew has close to no chance of bieing shown or even mentioned in the aname again. He has close to no relevance in Ash's storyline and would be a waist for the writers to reintroduce. And the chances of him traveling together with May in Johto A.K.A. contest to contest are very unlikely. They are both co-ordinators and would continually have to face each other in contests which will result in their Pokemon becoming over exhausted, or May having no chance to find her own battling style (The main reason she went) because she is continually facing Drew, over and over again.

You know I completely agree with no ship wil happen on the show. By the time pokemon ends who knows how many people Ash has been pair up with not just counting the girls he's traveling with by with guys and girls like Anabel. With so many ships the writers wouldn't want to upset people by chosing certain ones.

I think there might be a chance we'll heard about how May is doing in contests. That might be a way they could bring up Drew and others.

Personally, I say, like Xaotl, that Drew is probably not going to appear anymore. Plus, May has incentive to come back, unlike everyone's seemingly favorite romantic pretty boy. And then, the fandom is going to think, "What was My's incentive for coming back?," like the Pokeshippers previously did, but, they are now crumbling under the pressure. And, if Drew does come with May, that would somehow get rid of the non-shallow image that the writers gave May. I mean, you wouldn't fall for a guy just by having him give you flowers, would you? Case and point. Period.

Yeah, they're trying REALLY hard to get rid of shipping here.

Bad example, I know, but it's an example nonetheless.

With the more mature turn the series seems to have taken, I wouldn't be surprised if ships start to make a bit of an upsurge. Ships are fanservice, and they are now realizing that fanservice sells. Consider Dawn herself. That skirt breaks a lot of dress codes, and she has shown a penchant for cosplay.

Pikachu doesn't return those feelings. So I'm expecting the crush to fade as soon as Burnary evolves, such as Ash and his Chicorita/Bayleaf

I agree with Melody with saying that the writers would rather to leave ships in the fandom leaving everyone happy. This show is more focused on kids who find the idea of romance as creepy. I have two smaller brothers so I know their opinions of Drew and his romantic actions; so it would be the company leaving the area of kids entertainment that they have a strong hold in and towards the more teen area which is already taken by other shows.

And I don't really see how a skirt breaks alot of dress codes, they are just trying to reflect the way people dress in RL like what they did with Ash and his hood in the A/G series.

P.S. I still beleve that characters like Drew and Harley were the rivals of the Co-ctars who as I repeat have no validity on Ash's storyline and besides that why would Drew or Harley travel across regions to meet someone they don't even know that well. While May on the other hand is another story.
