What should be in Platina - the wishlist

I think we need this thread. We already have such thing for GS Remake, so Platina deserves this, too. What features do you await in Platina?

My turn, my turn!

I want:

  • Voice Checker!
  • New Partner Trainers (and Shirona being one of them!)
  • Reverse World to be different than in anime (I actually want it to be an inhabited place, with some challenges, not just a crap-looking phantomland full of Giratina's sidekicks)
  • Random Wi-Fi Battles in Battle Whatever (just because my friend wants it badly)
  • NO JOUTO POKEMON! (aside from those included in Sinnoh Dex and several others) You can figure out why, can't you?
  • What about Battle Searcher changed into a Call? I'm tired and bored of the Searcher. The Phone would also make it possible to rematch the Gym Leaders!
  • Some new Trainer Classes. Maybe some GS ones too, for reference reasons
  • The eventual new Gym Leader to be a SEXY CHICK!
  • Hikari's skirt to be shorter
  • And a new Rival outfit, too
  • Some more backstory on Kurotsugu & Player's Father (yeah, Kurotsugu made a mention in DP) and more backstories in general
  • Somehow, I can see both Kurotsugu and Player's Father being two of new "Frontier Brain-alikes".
  • The New Battle Whatever (Island, probably) to be set on Sakhalin Island. I want this island to be more useful than in DP
  • Maybe New Sprites for Gym Leaders & Elite Four. Or maybe even... ANIMATED TRAINERS!
  • Alternate Game Corner game. Card Flip or Roulette. Tired of slots.
  • Seeing TV "DJs" live. I want to know how they more or less look like.
  • Maybe a Yukari appearance, next to Mizuki?
  • Some good Easter Eggs. What about Yuuki/Haruka (in BF clothes from manga, would be awesome!)?
  • Some use for Yosuga Church
  • More Sugimori Artwork for Non-Pokemon things! (Mizuki deserves her art)
  • Elite Four to be stronger after certain event (or certain amount of times beating them). That would make challenging E4 multiple times less boring (and a perfect chance to level-up your Pokemon).
  • The "Place Images" like those from FR/LG. This time, however, they oughtta be 3D!

Okay, that's all for now. When I come up with something more, I'll add it here.

Those two are disturbing.

  • More Boxes and touch screen Boxes
  • Online Contests
  • Replace the old island since having a battle Zone and battle Island would be annoying
  • Jasmin being the 8th Gym leader and using Magnemite line, Ampharios and Steelix (with thunderfang)
  • Allow some national dex pokemon to be used before the elite 4 e.g. Gallade, Togekiss
  • More useful game mechanics
 
Good list. We gotta ask for too many things! :p

I'm interested in some additional things on the plot.

To begin with, since Red and Green were shown in GSC, I believe that there should be some mention of Ruby/Yuuki and Sapphire/Haruka in Platina at least. I mean... they will be... forgoten. At least Ruby will. -_- It would be pretty reasonable to put them into the battle island! And if they weared the BF manga outfits they would be even cooler! :D

Furthermore, they gotta clear out the time lines... If the ridiculus plot that has DPP being prequels to GSC is a fact, they gotta clear this out so that we know... Or they better shouldn't... And talking about old characters, it should be stated why Mikan is in Sinnoh. Is she there to train BECAUSE she lost to Gold? Or is she there in order to become a Gym Leader? I want to believe it's the first plot... :D

In addition to what should be explained... I would like to see Pearl's father out of stadium. Probably as Maxim said, along with Lucas/Diamond's father. And although there is the relation between Bertha and Agatha yet to be explained, I gotta say that I'd rather want this to take place on GSDS.

Sugimori arts that I would like to see include Mizuki. Also, it would be great to have Sugi arts of general trainers, like the Elite/Ace Trainers. I doubt though...

Denzi is rumored to leave his Gym, which would mean he's likely gonna replace Shirona in Champion's Place. That means we could be seeing a new role for Shirona... Who knows! Maybe she will be a parthner to the player. Oh, and it would be great if more parthners would be added!

The watch; so innovative, but it HAD to be monocolor and have one button?

More common fire types...

Updated National Dex, including all the forms seperately, like the DPBP in the card game. (534 Pokemon ftw)

They're usable but not catchable - there's a diff. I could use my Flygon and my Gallade LONG before I got the National Dex.

Here's MY wishlist:

-If Shirona/Cynthia does get replaced as Champ, I wanna be able to fight her team - all in their high 70s/80s (ala Red/Ash from GSC and Steven from Emerald)
-More char customization, ala PBR
-I want the Johto/Hoenn starters obtainable =( *misses my Lvl. 100 Typhlosion*
-Gym leader rematches (XD)

And some more REALLY random ones...

-a MOTORBIKE instead of a bicycle, operatable the same way as the running shoes. Just for fun.
-an option to be a bad guy/anti-hero but who still goes against Team Galactic(like the guy from Colosseum)
-the Snag Machine to go with it (PC and PXD oh yeah~!)

*can't think of anything else*
 
I dunno what I want...but why are you still calling it Platina when the official site has Platinum in it's name?

Because the word "Platina" is more similar to the word for Platinum in my native language. And I like it more.

But if it annoys you, I may call the game edition "Platinum". But I'll still call Ms. Berlitz "Platina" because that will be her name.
 
I'm just upset by the name. Otherwise I would like it to be similar to Emerald's improvements.

Well the whole red Gyarados thing is after you challenge her gym in g/s/c. ;)


You should be able to challenge Cynthia on the top of Mt. Coronet with a high level team (but slightly different, she doesn't need both Gastrodon and Milotic)
 
Well, first I want to be able to battle Gym Leaders again, so that way it won't be too boring after you beat the game.

Secondoly, I want the Elite 4 when you challenge them again, to actually realize that they lost, instead of acting as though they never seen you before.

Finally, Cyrus's story needs to be expanded on a bit more. What happened to him after he disappeared? Did he repent, did he sacrifice Mars and Jipiter, WHAT?
 
- Wi-fi contests.
- Rebatting Gym Leaders.
- Team Galactic plot to come to a conclusion.

And that's basically it.

1. Replace the Vs. Seeker with an Emerald-style Match Call application for the Poketch, complete with Gym Leader rebattles after obtaining the National Dex(with TMs as rebattle prizes).

2. Expand the Sinnoh Dex from 151 to 200, and include the following:
-----Nidoran-f(+3): Nidoran-f appears on Routes 201(L2/3) and 202(L2/3/4); replaces Starly at night.
-----Nidoran-m(+3): Nidoran-m appears on Routes 201(L2/3) and 202(L2/3/4); replaces Bidoof at night.
-----Magnemite line(+3): Appears at Fuego Ironworks(Magnemite at L28, Magneton at L30); replaces Shinx/Luxio entirely there.
-----Lapras(+1): Appears at the Pokemon League; replaces Tentacruel entirely there.
-----Eevee line(+8): Eevee appears at the Pokemon Mansion Garden(L16/L18); replaces Staravia entirely there.
-----Dratini line(+3): Dratini becomes catchable via Good Rod at Mt. Coronet.
-----Gligar line(+2): Appears on Routes 206/207 and Routes 214/215; replaces Geodude entirely at night in those areas.
-----Swinub line(+3): Swinub appears on Routes 216, 217, and Acuity Lakefront; replaces Machoke entirely on those routes.
-----Houndour line(+2): Replaces Buizel(Houndour) and Floatzel(Houndoom) on all applicable routes at night.
-----Tyrogue line(+4): Tyrogue appears on Routes 208 and 211 West; replaces Meditite in the morning on those routes.
-----Nosepass line(+2): Appears at Wayback Cave(L15/16); replaces Geodude there.
-----Torkoal(+1): Appears at Fuego Ironworks(L29); replaces Pachirisu there.
-----Snorunt line(+3): Snorunt appears on Routes 216, 217, and Acuity Lakefront; replaces Sneasel in the morning and daytime on those routes.
-----Duskull line(+3): Duskull appears at Lost Tower at night(L17-21); replaces Misdreavus/Murkrow entirely there.
-----Ralts line(+4): Ralts appears on Routes 203(L4/5/6) and 204 South(L4/5/6); replaces Bidoof in the morning on those routes.
-----Beldum line(+3): Appears at Iron Island; replaces Geodude(Beldum) and Graveller(Metang) entirely there.
-----Giratina(+1): For obvious reasons, L47 at the Spear Pillar.

Next up: Recommendations for Gym Leader/Elite Four changes.
 
-Some ability to remove programs from the Poketch. Seriously, 95% of that crap is completely useless, or is only rarely useful. Even if you try to avoid it, the game thrusts some Poketch crapware on you right when you get it(Memo Pad, Calculator, and the Digital Clock), and if you're not looking at an FAQ of some sort it can be easy to forget which NPCs give you crap applications.

-Do away with "TO CATCH A POKEMON, YOU MUST LOWER ITS HP IT WITH AN ATTACK, THEN USE A POKEBALL!" being an obligatory tutorial already. Having it optional worked just fine in RBYGSC, and it's even more ridiculous now that you can catch Pokemon before seeing the tutorial. This is more likely to happen in a completely new game, if ever, but one can dream.

-Make turning attack animations off actually speed up battles again, instead of just making animations invisible while making you wait during the time they'd take to play.

-There was no excuse for not having Wi-fi Underground or Contests in DP, and they'd better be in Platinum since "they're just going to add them in the third game so they have more new features to boast about" was the only reason I could think of for leaving that out.

-Give us PC item storage back, please. It's nice having an infinite bag, but I do not need every single item in it to be available on the go, and it would make life easier if I could stick crap in the PC so that scrolling to the bottom of the bag didn't take half a minute.

-Put box management on the touchscreen. I see no reason why we shouldn't be able to just poke-and-drag Pokemon around in boxes instead of wading through several menus just to move something to another box. On a related note, let us deposit Pokemon in the box with seal designs assigned to them, please. It could automatically remove the seal designation upon deposit if it's that big of a problem, but there's not much of an excuse for forcing the player to go "well shit, I forgot to remove the seal capsules from my Pokemon before team-shuffling, better wade through more menus to go do so!" I think that seal management should mostly occur in the main box anyway, but what do I know?

-Give us a snowmobile or something so we have some inclination to visit Routes 216 & 217 more than once. :p

-Speed up Surfing to RSE levels. This isn't as much of an issue since Shinou doesn't have that much water you have to Surf in, but there really is no reason for it to have been slowed down in the first place.

-Stop making only one or two copies of evolution items available in the entire game without cheating, or else making them ridiculously hard/annoying to find. I'd like to be able to evolve my Rhydon, Porygon2, Seadra, and Dusclops more than once without jumping through several buring hoops right above pits of hungry tigers, please.



Yes, I'm aware that I'm mostly asking for "make it faster and simpler to play through, dammit!", but Pokemon games tend to lag far enough behind in those areas that I feel justified complaining about them to this extent.

The idea of the Battle Frontier being reused doesn't seem like fun. :( But the PokeNav's Battle Searcher was nice. It'd be nice to rebattle gym leaders and have the Elite 4's levels increase. Having a voice-automated thing would be cool (you know, recording your voice on your DS). Oh, and the ability to trade Pokemon you've seen (like Darkrai, Arceus) on the GTS without needing an Nintendo event to take place.
 
Most of the stuff I'd want to add would be in a fifth game, but for now, what I would want would be:

- Battle Animations, it wouldn't be very hard, it's 2 more sprites per pokemon (With some pokemon like unown and wobbuffet not really needing more)
- Online Contests and Underground mode, maybe even more of an emphasis on them. (Like multiple contest houses again and hidden underground dungeons in caves/mountains)
- More Minigames: Give us more to do than just battle. I want to see a new Surfing game, maybe a Snowboarding game, Expand Amety Square to more Stage one Pokemon under a certain size and give us something simple and fun to do there. Also at least one more game in the Casino, Slots are great to have, but they really are the most boring of the games.
- Real Random Weather! It would be the most awesome thing they could add is making weather patterns, maybe even modifying the probabilities with the DS calendar.
- Let us rechallenge main characters, this includes Gym leaders and Partners, and let them get stronger. Better yet, make a rival system for the two rivals, letting them randomly Approach you in areas like outside of pokemon centers or leaving caves/forest. Keep us on our toes.
- Of course the Battle Frontier should return, I'd even be open to it being the same people again, but I don't know about this other dimension. I guess it'd be interesting, but I have no clue on what it should have (Because I've never really cared) Also do something more with the intresting, but worthless places like the Church.
- I guess the things for the hardcore too like speeding through battles and more boxes for pokemon.
 
- Being able to re-challenge Gym leaders (with higher-levelled and different pokemon). I want to know how Oreburg, for eg, would pan out if it wasn't so deliberately simple.

- Travel to a different region. Give players an idea of the scope of the Pokemon world rather than just making references to it. It's the DS, it's not like the older handhelds, surely they could pull it off at some point without seriously threatening their cash-making strategy of version-exclusives and needing various different games.
