I am going to say:

Heracross (already confirmed in preview)
Bayleef (Likely getting its debut)
Totodile (Likely getting its debut)
Quilava (I definitely see it used twice since it evolved)
Muk (This is where I see Muk being used)
Glalie or Pikachu

I don't see Noctowl/Donphan being used again, or any of the Sinnoh Pokemon, honestly.

Most likely it'll be the 3 Johto starters, plus Muk and Glalie as wild cards, or Pikachu.

Corphish/Torkoal will probably get some quick recap battles instead.

I can def see BayLeef being used here at least.
Maybe Gible one more time.
Totodile and Quilava yah need to be used for sure.

Your guesses are as good as ours, Scott. But if Ash realizes Darkrai's weaknesses, I can see Heracross (already confirmed), Infernape, and Staraptor (it has Close Combat) being used, anyway.

I can't see the Sinnoh Pokemon used again, as not only did they just get Paul, but it really leaves no room for his unused Johto starters or the others to appear.

I think the Sinnoh team is done after Paul.

Actually, this sounds about right
Heracross (already confirmed in preview)

Muk (This is where I see Muk being used)

My team is:

Heracross
Glalie
Infernape
Buizel
Bayleef
Pikachu

Infernape, Buizel and Pikachu because of opening.

The opening is moot. There is a very slim chance of Totodile being left out of the League altogether, and having Entei on the same team as Darkrai would be overkill and cheap. Besides, Quilava has untapped potential, making it a more viable choice than Infernape is.

Pikachu
Bayleef
Quilava
Totodile
Heracross
Noctowl

I think it makes for a good theme. They are all the Pokemon Ash captured in the early days of his Johto adventure. Seeing Muk or Glalie would just be weird for such an epic battle. The above Pokemon are iconic for Pokemon HGSS.

As to where that leaves Muk and the Hoenn Pokemon, well, hopefully we get some very quick battles that show them. But this league has not given the time of day to any Gen I or Gen III Pokemon, so I don't see how that's going to change going forward.

Heracross
Noctowl
Infernape
Bayleef
Kingler/Tauros (I can dream)
Pikachump

I tend to agree. While Muk hasn't been used in 8 years just like Bayleef and Totodile (with Quilava being barely used recently and Noctowl probably getting a good battle tomorrow), it still wouldn't complement the Johto starters as well as Noctowl would. More importantly, Noctowl's Insomnia could really make a difference against Darkrai, which is more than I can say for anything Muk could have under its belt. I will not shed any tears for Muk should Noctowl take its place once more.

Glalie was completely played out in the Hoenn League. If it somehow makes its way to this battle, I expect it to go down without contributing much.

I would have loved to see Torkoal used instead of Quilava but in reality it seems that Scott's choices are the most accurate. Glalie over Pikachu so we can have some ADV representatives.

Ash's Sinnoh team will be too tired out from his battle with Paul, so his team will probably be Kanto/Johto/Hoenn Pokémon. Something like:
Charizard
Sceptile
Glalie
Heracross
Muk
Totodile

Again, good luck with that.
Why so?
Charizard can be called on at any time, and Sceptile is at Oak's, again, to be called on at any time. They're also Ash's biggest power houses. Why wouldn't he use them against a trainer with a freakin' Darkrai?

Charizard can be called on at any time,
I wouldn't say that at all; the flight from Johto to Sinnoh is a long one.

and Sceptile is at Oak's, again, to be called on at any time.
And yet it was one of the select few Pokémon not shown in DP182, which means that Ash didn't deem it necessary for the League. Oak was given a list with the Pokémon Ash wanted; he sent Ash all of them, including Heracross which wasn't sent at first because Oak had confused it with Snorlax.

They're also Ash's biggest power houses.
Every Pokémon's power fluctuates in the anime. The writers will make the Johto starters as strong as they need to be for the battle to be good.

Why wouldn't he use them against a trainer with a freakin' Darkrai?
Brute force will not be enough to overcome Darkrai; neither Charizard nor Sceptile has any particular advantage when it comes to tackling Dark Void.

Who says Charizard has to fly? In a world where giant monsters can be sent over the phone, I think the Charizard Valley has a better way of communication than just flying in the case of Long Distance travel.

But Charizard was never at Oak's. There's at least a chance of Charizard appearing.

And yet Charizard has consistently been a power house.

Neither do Corphish, Totodile, Snorlax, Bayleef, Quilava, Glalie, Torkoal or Muk. The only ones who do are Heracross, who was used against Nando (And has apparently already been confirmed) and Noctowl, who is being used against Conway.

Sure, Ash not getting Sceptile from Oak's is an indication that it won't be used; but there's still a chance for Charizard.
