Not stop it entirely, but a protein it produces (leptin) slows transmission of the malaria parasite (carried by mosquitoes). Plus, the protein didn't totally remove all the parasites from the mosquitoes. So, some people would still get malaria and die from it, but scientists think that they can lower the number of people affected by this disease.
 
Okay, thanks ^^ Science today just seems so...Science fiction-ey. It's hard to believe some of this weird stuff they do. This is good news for Africa and some other countries with Malaria problems...it reminds me of my old ideas of the future, when we'd conquer disease. Silly, but I like hearing things like this.
