When I was trying to log in to upload something, it didn't recognize my username.

Login error:
There is no user by the name "ElectricRat". Check your spelling, or create a new account.

It's really weird as the other pages recognize me as being logged in. Do I need to register a separate account to upload files or what?

Yes, you need to register a new account to be able to contribute to Bulbapedia.

Bulbagarden Archives is a seperate wiki so so have to register for that seperately.
