I'm playing through Green version again, and I have to say I'm tired of Legendary pokemon, they're a tad over rated.

any way, what was your final party at the end of Red/Green/Blue?
and why?

for me it was

Fushigibana (Venasaur), because he was my first pokemon and I used him for "Cut"

Mew, because mew is awesome and can learn any move, and he surfs

Nidoking, because he is powerful, easy to get, and can learn water move quickly
one of my many surfers

Nyorobon (Poliwrath), because he is the evolution of Nyozoro, my favourite pokemon! and is, of course, a surfer

My team at the end of Red version was:

Charizard: Best Pokémon ever. No questions asked.

Zapdos: My favorite of the birds

Nidoking: I agree with you on his awesomeness

Hitmonchan: I thought he was cool back in the day.

Articuno: Also very cool

Mewtwo: and of course, the most powerful Pokémon in the history of the games.
 
Um, if I can remember.. (Boy the sprites looked weird back then)

Venusaur
Poliwrath - Was used for surf
Nidoking
Pidgeot - My flyer
Butterfree - As I recall, my butterfree sucked
Beedrill - It as not much better than butterfree on my team.

I like how no one has snorlax, God what a waste of pokeballs he was, finally caught him and never used him
 
Ah my old Red Team. Does bring back good old memories. Anyway, this was my team at the end of Red:

Charizard: Because he was my first Pokémon and I always loved Fire-Types.

Lapras: Because its dual type of Water/Ice makes it a dangerous Pokémon in battle and it has meaty stats to help survive strong attacks.

Jolteon: Because it’s one of the fastest Electric Types in the game and still one of the best Electric Types Ever.

Golem: Maybe not of the best Pokémon to have on a team (even back in Gen I), but I loved Golem’s look and it learned Earthquake naturally (always a plus) and can learn Rock Slide through TM48 at the time.

Alakazam: Because Psychic Types were nearly unbeatable back in Gen I and Alakazam was one of the best.

Mewtwo: Again, Psychic Types were insanely powerful in Gen I and this Legend was almost unbeatable back then.

How did you get Mewtwo before defeating the Elite four?
 
My team before I defeated the Elite four
(the afterwards are given in Brackets)

1. Charizard - My all time buddy
2. Articuno - got Lance out easily
3. Mr. Mime - Confusion, and Bruno down
4. Raichu - Electrifying
5. Graveler - Earthquake.
6. Dewgong - Surfer

It was the best team I could ever have
And it was my best game ever
 
Mew - The only decent flyer, back in the day ;D
Mr. Mime - Psychic was unstoppable.
Lapras - Surf and Ice Beam, with sing :)
Scyther - Is still badass 4 generations later
Sandslash - Dig was an amazing attack.
Charizard - Haha, what 8 year old boy didn't want one of these?
 
I think it was

Blastoise - My first Poke and it's a surfer!

Pikachu - So I didn't evolve it, I didn't care then.

Snorlax - I don't care what you say, I used my Lax!

Flareon - I wanted a fire type.

Pidgeot - Got this because I didn't want a Fearow.

Sandslash - Go Digging powers!

My team is going to be Blastoise, Gengar and Mew- I tend to like 3 pokemon teams instead of 6, they're stronger, can mostly cover their weaknesses, and leave room for HM users.

Fearow Better of the earlier fliers
Raichu An early electric
Victreebel Best grass type in Blue except Venusaur
Dugtrio Fast ground type
Ninetales A personal favorite and excellent Fire Pokemon

Considering only two people posted Mew on their teams, doubtful. As to the room for HM users comment, the only HM slave I had that didn't have a spot in my actual party was Flash. Every other HM move was useful in battle, Strength and Cut were really powerful normal type moves, Surf destroyed water weak pokemon and had a better hit rate than Hydro Pump. Fly? A two turn, highly accurate, powerful flying type move? Yes, please.

I've always preferred Zapdos over either of the other birds. Teach him thunder and fly and he tears through the first three Elite Four (with a quick switch out to a water type for Bruno's rock pokemon), not to mention Gary's Pidgeot and Blastoise or Venusaur (I never was a Bulbasaur user).

My team at my last playthrough was:

Charizard
Zapdos
Gyrados
Graveller
Butterfree
My fifth slot was unused... I had another pokemon in there but last minute I changed my Charizard's moveset around and dropped Cut from his moves.
