What would the Pokemon anime be like if it was in 3-d?

Do you think 3-d would be good in the pokemon anime?

You know I just thought about this with all the 3-d movies out there and all and thought it would be an interesting thing to discuss. What if pokemon were in 3-d? Would it detract from it or make it more awesome? I think with all the CG in the episodes these days it would be pretty awesome to see things like Ash vs. Paul or the Grand Festival in 3-d. What about the movies could they be made into 3-d easily and be more awesome?

I made this into a poll to see some statistics. I like statistics.

I think 3d is overrated. I prefer watching HD anyway. This region has been so much more enjoyable since its been in HD. When they make 3d without the glasses then it would be alright.

I often think about it, but the more I think about it, 3D just doesn't suit Pokemon at all. Some series may be very good with 3D animation but I don't think Pokemon would work.

I like the anime style, even though there's going to be a point where eventually the animation really is just going to stop improving, because it would reach its limitations.

The only thing they could do is change the art style, and seeing that they "tried" to do that with Digimon, I don't think that's really an option since that art style just ruined Digimon (glad they are apparently going back to the old style though).

Dear Arceus, that would suck. I hate 3D movies. It's a gimmick that does nothing to enhance the viewing experience.

There were some 3D things in Pokemon already, actually...
I was about to say... Pokemon isn't a stranger to 3D. We've gotten those special Made-for-3D releases.

You know, a simple anime like Pokemon doesn't need 3D. In fact, 3D isn't exactly a make or break on a lot of things for me.

I will agree, it doesn't need it, nor does it need to be completely 3D animated, as that would look silly. HD will do fine for now.

3D would be awesome, but it's not really necessary, however I would like to see one particular episode in 3D, The Mandarin Island Miss Match.

XD

Considering how "good" CGI animation for syndicated TV shows tend to be... It isn't really a good fit.

The biggest artstyle Pokémon seems to follow is Ken Sugimori's. It's largely consistant from game to game (except for Trozei which follows a vastly different one). The anime also follows Sugimori's example, and this may not translate into GCI well.

I wouldn't like it. I am not a fan of 3-D, IMO it is just a distraction and takes away from the movie and or show. I think it doesn't fit pokemon t.v show or movies at all. So, I definitely would prefer pokemon as it is.

I'm pretty sure the question being posed is not one about GCI but about 3-D.

I still agree with you on the matter of the computer generated image stuff though, as a weird aside. Pokemon does make use of sparse blips of CGI though already, so it's there whether we want it or not.

I see then... Usually I equate the term 3-D with GCI.

Having everything in CGI would be silly. But things like inanimate objects or attacks are okay.

They've also done GCI Pokemon if I'm not mistaken (not just movies but I mean in the anime too).

Hold on are we talking about 3D as in needing glasses or are we talking about 3 dimensional characters (similar to the Home Console Pokemon Games) I guess which is now referred to as CGI.

In that case my answer is slightly different.

I actually wouldn't mind 3D for Pokemon then. Especially if they create a special 3DS only movie. Because 3D without glasses involving Pokemon would be pretty damn neat. While we could just wait until 3DS games, I'd like to see the Pokemon Anime (assuming they are skilled enough) take a step towards the 3DS and create 3D Movies. Well I guess they already did it with the Pikachu Shorts, but a full length movie, with human characters, conflict, and lots of battling wouldn't be bad at all. I'd really like it, since seeing a flamethrower come at you or some other attack would be pretty neat actually.

If the art style could remain the same in general it could work really well.

CGI 3 dimensional characters on the other hand, no.

3-D is okay in several places, but it shouldn't be used in excess in most cases (Pokemon is one example; 3-D has been used several times).

i dislike most 3-d movies and i dont think i would be a good idea for pokemon.

but all i could think of while read this thread is watching the porygon seizure in 3-d O_O
