What would you say are the characteristics of each type?

...list some characteristics for each Pokemon type
 
I had done a series of articles stating the characteristics of each type, but to summarise, here are the points:

Grass
Plant Pokémon
Fungi Pokémon
Animals Pokémon with Plants
Sea Lilies (Only for Lileep and Cradily)

Fire:
Body parts with fire on it
Anatomy that resembles fire
Something that emits heat
Abilities that demonstrates innate heat

Water
Water-dwelling living things
Animals with a habitat situated near a water body

Fighting
Specialist in a Fighting Discipline
Powerful Puncher
Strength as a Power
Motivated and Powered by Justice
Have a Fighting Spirit

Psychic
Manipulative Mind Powers
Intelligence
Related to Outer Space
Environment Manipulator

Dark
Inherently Evil
Instinctive Ruthlessness
Mischief and Underhandedness
Associated with Darkness
Pack Mentality Governed by Dominance
Symbol that Induces Hopelessness

Normal
Non-elemental
Doesn’t fit the existing types

Bug
Insect origins
Arachnids
Certain Arthropods
Certain Small Invertebrates

Rock
Made of Stone, possibly with Gems
Attached to a Hard Shell
Ancient Pokémon Revived from Fossils
Tough Exterior

Electric
Based on electric animals
Ability to store generated electricity, sometimes showing pointy parts

Ice
Made of ice and/or cold things
Based on animals that live in the cold

Steel

Dragon
Based on a dragon, Western or Eastern
Species resemble a dragon
Based on powerful and magnificent mythical creature
Animal given dragon-like traits

Fairy
Based on humanoid and smaller mythical creatures
Possess cuteness and innocence
Ability to feel feelings
Representation of life

Ghost
Spirit-based
Objects possessed or powered by spirits
Bloated body containing a substance
Ability to travel into another dimension (Giratina)
Uses darkness for natural evasion

The characteristics I concluded are based on justifying the reason a Pokemon is typed that way. I don't quite understand what you meant by "less obvious", but if I understand correctly, would it be something like something that does not fit the traditional mould of a type, like Lileep and Cradily's Grass-type?
