Not sure if this is the right place, but I've always been curious about this. I'm not talking about things like sleeping bags or tents or stuff like that. Those are a given. I'm talking about things that you, personally, would like to have with you on a long journey to capture all kinds of random little critters and have them beat the snot out of each other.

For me, my iPod is a dead given. A sketchbook and basic drawing kit would be great too. Smokes are a definite. Oh, and my lucky beads. I can't leave home without those. Same goes for my beanie. A straight razor for shaving is another must, and while we're on the subject of blades, it's always a good idea to have a good knife with you. You never know when it can come in handy. Oh, and definitely an head-mounted LED flashlight.

pokeballs, torch, sleeping bag, knife, map.........and a whole lot of determination

Torch, iPod, Sketchbook & Drawing kit :D Knife, Cap, Map, pokeballs & Pokegear

IPod, Sleeping bag, Tent, Extra clothes, some Pokeballs, some heals, Map, flash light, rope, food, water, laptop, soap, swiss army knife...

Let's see:
-snacks
-Poke Balls
-iPod (with headphones)
-healing items
-extra clothes

Yeah, that may be all that I may bring.

Money to start off with(can't be bothered packing trainer's items), my cellphone, iPod, solar powered iPod and phone charger(or electric pokemon powered). Extra clothes, my large collection of hats... Hmm what else... I suppose a camera, too.

Interesting question. I guess:
-Poké balls
-healing items
-rope
-knife
-food
-water
-soap
-toothbrush
-razor
-umbrella
-some clothes
-map
-iPod
-perhaps my phone
-sketchbook
-flashlight
-my lucky bracelet
-photos of family and friends
-oh, and a camera

Wish I could go on a Pokémon journey. :)

EDIT: obviously I'd take my Pokédex and my starter, Squirtle, too!

Huh. I find it interesting that so many of us agree that a knife is a must-bring, but it's never shown up in any of the source material. Not even in the early days of the anime or even in PokeSpe.

Probably because pokémon know a move called "cut," or some variation of it (i.e. slash).

phone (w/ charger)
tylenol may come in handy
camera
necessity items
that's all I can think of atm, but there's probably more.

Hmm...lets see...
Id bring:
-my wallet
-my mobile phone (it would be powered the same as Pokedex's. They never run out of power)
-my Pokedex
-spare Pokeballs
-many changes of clothes
-my dagger
-various toiletries
-my fedora
-sketch kit
-most importantly; my car!

But that's for cutting down trees and stuff. A knife would be for more subtle things.

-most importantly; my car!
Seriously? Doesn't that kind of cheapen the whole thing? I mean, how would you get encounter wild Pokemon to catch and train against?

I was more thinking of it as a place to keep all my clothes and cooking utensils, and whatnot. And a place to sleep. Id probably park up somewhere every day and go for a hike out into the wilderness to train.

Everyone seem's to want to bring their iPod.

-iPod
-Phone
-A week supply of clothes
-Toiletries
-Poké Balls
-Money
-Food
-First Aid Kit
-Flashlight

-ipod full of pink floyd and queen and the beatles
-flash light
-razors/shaving cream
-lots of cookies
-a book full of paper and some pens
-a good book
-money
-lots of cloths
-first aid kit
-food besides cookies and lots of water.
-lots of pokeballs
-tooth brush
-my laptop

and a knife.

- Some sort of large notebook or sketchbook. As a trainer and explorer, you will want to take notes. A book or two may be a good idea too.
- A laptop. It may override the above, but you won't always be able to keep it charged. A basic but strong one may be better than a modern one, as all you want it for is taking notes and such either way.
- Just another set of clothes.
- Human health stuff, of course.
- Some personal item of sentimental value.
- A classic GB with a Mario or Kirby game. I would go insane if I didn't have something to clear my mind.

I don't think you need anything else besides extra money, unless you avoid civilization entirely for some reason.

I wouldn't bother packing the items that people seem to hand out at random, like the Pokegear.
