Basically similar to Orre in that it uses the same battling system and leveling but completely original. In other words if a main title was not a remake/sequel/third version/New Generation what would you want? I have a lot of ideas myself and will provide them as examples.
Same thing but harder
A game that is contained in a generation but has it's own region, gym leaders and villainous team. What would it do to justify introducing almost zero new mechanics? It would be significantly harder.
Trainer class game
This idea is being able to play as the different trainer classes. Pokemon will have different multipliers for catch rate, experience and potentially other factors I didn't think about based on the trainer class you play as. For example Black belt and Psychic will be have high yield for fighting and psychic type but low yields for everything else. Each class would have different skills such as healing, fund raising and move tutoring. Each playable class would have its own campaign with an ending the pokes you have would be put in an inbetween game storage and you'd be able to play as a different class.
Random event sandbox
Self explanatory but what events could they be? I'd think it would be cool if there was an endless supply of randomly generated legendaries that each have a side quest.
Tournament focused
I love tournaments. And there are multiple ways to make a pokemon game completely focused on tournament. You can go through a series of tournaments. The you can spend the game competing in optional small tournaments with their own rules until your reps big enough to compete in a super tournament. You can have the same tournament from different perspective. Hell you can probably have one big tournament.
