Celebrating 55,000 articles!
In the past month, Bulbapedia hit another milestone! How many of our now 55,000 articles have you read?
This time, our milestone article was a labor of love: sync pair story by our very own Storm Aurora! This article was in the works since July, and has developed into quite the catalogue of content! Between the extensive list of sync pair stories, and the detailed overview explaining exactly what makes an event a sync pair story, you can surely learn all you need to know about your favorite characters. So, spend A Day with Storm Aurora and enjoy Bulbapedia's 55,000th article!
Steeled for Battle
Our TCG Live Battle Pass page leveled up this November, thanks to the Exp. Shared between TAG TEAM Sir Bakujirou S. and Salmancer! The Battle Pass received a major rehaul after the Surging Sparks expansion, simplifying from 2 tracks to 1 but increasing the number of tiers to progress through from 50 to 75. What a challenge! Also included in this update were the removal of coins as a currency, changing the way currency works in Pokémon Trading Card Game Live. We applaud Sir Bakujirou S. and Salmancer for taking on this Bulletin Board task! (Even as 30 million of us have downloaded and moved onto Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket...)
Routes to Rewards!
In Pokémon GO, the cities and towns you explore in-game are the same as the ones you explore in real life. But what about routes? Sure, you can make a plan to hit up the local PokéStops, but what about seeing some scenic views on the way?
In 2023, Niantic bridged this gap with the Routes feature, where players can take recommended paths between PokéStops, and get rewards for doing so. Thanks to our GO-getter HeroponSuperT2, we now have an article about that!
It's said that adventure is about the journey - but getting rewarded at the end is great, too! And we get to see our Best Buddy Mateo too! Lucky us!
Check out this recent advertisement for Routes published in November. What will you find on your adventure?
Wigglytuff's Walloping Wave!
If you've attended any sports games, you've likely heard of the classic "do the wave" move sweeping across the audience. Well, in the early days of the TCG, that was a viable - and effective - competitive strategy! Assemble an audience of Pokémon in your stands - er, bench - and have cheer master Jungle Wigglytuff start the reaction!
Thanks to Mortagua2 for documenting this piece of TCG history!
The Great Beyond!
Us Pokémon fans are always curious about the mysteries and characteristics of these wild monsters. Lucky for us, there is a monthly web series by The Pokémon Company International focusing on one Pokémon every month called Beyond the Pokédex! Last year, we began our coverage of this webseries, but today we want to share with you our new series of pages detailing each of the 13 individual episodes, courtesy of the great Mortagua2! While the series may currently be on a hiatus, our coverage still persists: be sure to read all 13 pages to become a Pokémon Master!Did you know that Sharpedo has a special skin that helps it swim over 75 miles per hour?
What lies on the Cutting Room Floor?
Have you ever visited The Cutting Room Floor? It's a wiki dedicated to unused and debugging content found within video games. This wiki is a special place on the internet, with over 30,000 articles (as of November 2024), all detailing the content you normally can't find when playing through your favorite games. With almost 200 articles dedicated to Pokémon, this wiki is required reading for any Pokémon fan. We at Bulbapedia wanted to recognize their hard work and invaluable contributions to the Pokémon fandom, so you can now read The Cutting Room Floor's own article on the Bulbapedia encyclopedia, written by historian Frozen Fennec! We can't wait to see what they dig up next!
Games Gone in a Flash
Oh, the Adobe Flash era. You've provided Pokémon fans with all sorts of delightful games: Turtwig's Target Smash!, Munchlax's Berry Bonanza!, Joltik's Super Circuit!. What fond memories we have browsing the likes of Pokémon.com and CartoonNetwork.com, discovering what brand new flash games they have in store.
The Flash era might be gone, but historian Pipefan is living the best life, revisiting the good old days researching even more online flash games! Thanks to Pipefan, Bulbapedia now has catalogues of the Pokémon Daisuki Club and Yahoo! Kids online games. Yeah! You wanted those game right? So, here you go! Relive the glory of Pokémon Mazeland, Pokémon Sky Tower, and Machamp's Geodude Battle!
What Generation is YOUR Favorite?
On November 22, a series of nine new Starter Decks were released in Japan, each featuring one of the nine generations of Pokémon games. This collection of 175 cards was divided into themed decks, each with artwork themed around the generations' regions. Choose your Legend (or Pikachu!) as a powerful Pokémon ex, and enjoy the nostalgia of playing with Pokémon from your favorite generation! Check out the 159 pages for the cards released in this collection, courtesy of TCG expert Anzasquiddles!
And don't forget to watch the excellent animation released for the collection.
