Welcome to Lumiose!
A warm and wonderful welcome to the City of Light! There’s plenty to do and see in Lumiose City, so let me be your guide on the activities and experiences that await you.
Wild zones
An emerging phenomenon in Lumiose City are the wild zones constructed by Quasartico Inc. via holo-tech. As more and more wild Pokémon have been sighted in the city, these zones have been built as natural habitats for Pokémon to reside in.
Naturally, these areas are ripe spots for catching Pokémon. Don’t be afraid to let loose Poké Balls and fill out the Pokédex - you can receive the app at any Pokémon Center, and standing right outside is always a lost Poké Ball collector who will return to you any Poké Balls you’ve dropped.
Battle zones
Another major highlight in Lumiose right now is the night life. Expecting parties and fun? Not here! As soon as the shadow of Prism Tower disappears, folks competing in the Z-A Royale rush to the battle zone, ready to challenge any Trainer on sight! If you join this fierce competition, be sure to grab plenty of prize medals to earn cash rewards when dawn arrives!
Look out for bonus cards and complete their challenges for extra ticket points and prize medals as well - try to earn your Challenger’s Ticket quickly so that you’re always ready for your next promotion match! Do you have what it takes to rise from Rank Z to A and get your wish granted?
Quests
If you find yourself at the Pokémon Research Lab, the acting director Mable may ask you to help with her research on the steady influx of Pokémon into the city. Complete requests to receive rewards such as TMs, Exp. Candy, Bottle Caps, and more.
You may also meet Emma and her Espurr, Mimi, at the Looker Bureau. Help Emma in her detective work by completing side missions to help the people and Pokémon of Lumiose!
Shhh but, Taunie wanted me to ask, do you think you can help Team MZ? Numerous Rogue Mega-Evolved Pokémon have been spotted around the city, and Quasartico has tasked a select few Trainers to gather Mega Power and quell these Pokémon, whose sudden Mega Evolutions are causing them pain.
It’ll be vital to learn and master Plus Moves to calm each one - but be ready for anything, as some Pokémon may even have Mega-Evolved forms that have never been seen before! To prepare yourself, knock out any Mega Crystals and gather Mega Shards to exchange for Mega Stones at Quasartico Inc. - some are also available to purchase at the Stone Emporium.
Style and fashion
Want a new look? Why not visit Coiffure Clips for a new ‘do! You may even discover new hairstyles or acquire some stunning contact lenses when interacting with certain people around the city!
You can also splurge at the city’s shopping arcades for all the latest fashions, though some shops may only be available to the truly stylish~. Additionally, we have a list of clothing items to find, so check it out as you plan your shopping spree.
There’s no shortage of fun and relaxing things to do in the city, among other low-stakes recreations. You can collect Canari plush, complete Racine Construction’s scaffolding-based parkour courses to find and exchange Colorful Screws for goods, and even find some peculiar items such as… Tasty Trash and.. a pebble?
Don’t forget to visit the sights as well! Just hop in a Lumi Cab - feel free to chat with the driver and listen to their stories as you arrive at new destinations. There’s currently a special exhibit at the Lumiose Museum on the historic Hisui region, and the city’s many cafés are great spots to enjoy some coffee or tea with your Pokémon, while some may desire to visit the Dormez Bien Cemetery to pay their respects.

Ultra-secret missions!
Main article: Looker Episode
"Greetings, Champion of Alola! We've noticed that you have a particular set of skills, skills you've acquired over a long journey. Skills that make you a nightmare for threats such as... Ultra Beasts. Inquire at Akala Island, Route 8, at the motel's guest room. Look for the woman in black, and come prepared for a battle. We'll see you there." - Interpol
Quite a shady message on this Enigmatic Card, maybe you should check it out...
Thanks to special agent TrainerSplash, the Looker Episode from Pokemon Sun and Moon has now been declassified! Study it carefully.. if those otherworldly UBs return, we'll be on the case!
Main article: Sample Set (TCG)
At Nintendo Space World 2001 in Japan, we were shown what the newest set of Pokémon cards at the time would look like. By scanning a small sample of 10 cards at the event, attendees could view each Pokémon’s Pokédex entry from Generation II and play some demo games for the upcoming e-Reader peripheral.
For the longest time, all the Internet had for card imagery were grainy, low-quality photos from the event. Then, in 2025, an online card shop auctioned off a full set of the cards and provided high-quality images for the first time in 24 years!
Now you too can see what the cards from the Sample Set look like - and what games they played on the e-Reader! The best part? We finally know what Abra’s moves are, and... wait, swiping Psyduck’s card gave us the game Machop at Work?!
We appreciate Pokéhistorian Frozen Fennec for uploading these newly discovered images and adding relevant info to the card pages!
Main article: Monopoly: Pokémon Edition (2024)
Everyone loves Monopoly, right? ...ok well everyone's heard of Monopoly, right?
Pokémon has done several spins on Monopoly over the years, going as far back as 1999. For the 2024 iteration though, it wasn't just a simple re-theme - several of the rules were reworked for a more Pokémon-esque safari.
Players still purchase and control territory, but now the goal is to catch a variety of Pokemon as you journey across the board's locales. Players can also battle a zone's owner in a vie to take it for themselves - but remember, you'll have to pay the prize money if you lose. To protect our finances from devastation, to denounce the evils of rent and inflation!
We'd like to thank PokemonSpears for bringing us this comprehensive article on the newest iteration of the classic board game. Great work!
Bulletin Board highlights
Each month we show our appreciation to those who contribute to the community Bulletin Board. We've got three additions to highlights this time!
- In October, Blweldon2 clarified that as of v.1.2.0, Postcards affect the wing pattern of Vivillon that appear in mass outbreaks in Scarlet and Violet. This also causes any Scatterbug or Spewpa caught during that Postcard's effect to evolve into Vivillon of the same form. Good to know!
- Last month meeper12346 also helped clarify some info about the Black and White tour in Japan on the New Pokémon page, an article chronicling the history of new Pokémon and how they were revealed in each generation. We appreciate the added detail, meeper!
- In early November, 4iamking and Landfish7 created and filled out the page on the Pokémon Research Lab, previously known as the Sycamore Pokémon Lab. We hope Mable is pleased!
The Bulbapedia team is able to bring this special edition thanks to the contributions of our dedicated community volunteers. We're always welcoming new editors as we continue to expand and enhance our shared knowledge of the Pokémon franchise. If you'd like to help out, check out our guide on getting started, or come chat with us on the Bulbagarden Discord server. We look forward to seeing you!
