What foods do you like to eat when you're sick? Common cold, flu, recovering from surgery, anything?

When I'm sick I usually don't have a stomach for anything, so I like to just eat bread with honey, or fruit jam spread thinly, and have a cup of tea. My stepmother (who's Asian) got me into tea when I'm sick; she'd always tell me to make sure it was a fruit tea, and put as much sweetener or honey in it as I could without overpowering the fruit. And I kinda have it as my go-to now.

White peach juice is also great for when my throat's sore, but it's hard to find.

Having just been out of hospital since Thursday, this was uncanny haha. My comfort foods will have to be juice, I cannot stand water for several days after being ill so I will drink any fruit juice that I can stomach. As for food... Dry, fresh bread rolls are great and helps to fill up the emptiness. I'm not sure if it's the same in every country but KFC mash and gravy is very popular for anyone recovering from anything here since it's easy to eat and the salt content helps to raise blood pressure or something (idk that's what my grandmother says).. Also (again not sure if people know this) Rooibos tea. I stopped drinking regular tea after my last stint in hospital and Rooibos is definitely more refreshing.

^Same! I have to drink apple juice because I don't feel like drinking water. Sometimes I make tea with honey, but I prefer juice.

Food-wise, I can only stomach rice porridge, khichdi (daal and rice) and vegetable soup. I usually eat the first two with vegetable pickle for salt, a little spice, and flavor.

I have porridge with warm honey tea or citron tea when I'm sick. It's usually what I can take without my stomach refusing it

Sprite or ginger ale if I feel like drinking something. Plain rice or toast if I feel like eating.

Orange juice or apple juice, and soup. Sometimes tea as well.

I eat minced raw garlic and I sprinkle it over some nice warm buttered bread. The trick is the garlic, which helps to fight morning sickness. :)

I also like a nice tall berry smoothie, or tea with honey, lemon and ginger. <3

Also this may sound silly but miracle berries are pretty fun to experiment with when you really need your organic vitamin C. You can just take a tablet and then binge on raw lemons. xD

I mostly eat chicken noodle or tomato soup with water or juice when I'm sick, especially if it's a cold or fever. For the flu I don't really eat anything except for saltine crackers with, once again, water or juice.

Forgot to add when I came home from having my wisdom teeth removed a couple years ago, the only thing I had to eat were really soft mushed foods and jell-o.

Oh man I forgot about this.

Oatmeal.

I like to make those instant oatmeals with fruit pieces for breakfast when I'm sick, with a little honey drizzled on top, and a little milk. Really soothing for my stomach, and doesn't have any powerful smells to make me want to hurl.

If someone else makes it for me then homemade chicken noodle soup. Otherwise it's chicken noodle or chicken and rice soup from the can or rice cooked in chicken broth. Non-caffeinated teas and honey too. When I feel my throat trying to get sore I eat a little honey.

Homemade chicken soup with Matzah Balls, AKA Jewish Penicillin, except I'm not allergic to it.

I usually cook up a large pot of it and eat it for an entire week.

I've also been known to drink copious amounts of black tea with some form of whiskey in it.

apple, juice in genereal, and gelatin. Nothing very solid or flavored. Bread or instantant noodles when i need to eat something with substance

Baked beans. I mean, I eat baked beans a lot anyway, so there's a good chance that when I'm sick, I'm eating baked beans. Actually, maybe there's no correlation... I really like baked beans.

Hot tea, toast with jam (no butter), soup (especially chicken noodle), and oatmeal. I prefer mint or green tea when I'm nauseous, something about a fruity taste on an upset stomach doesn't work for me.
