The title refers to Pokmon that seem to be incredibly strong when there are wild and untamed compared to when they finally turn over their ways to fit into the stereotypical example of the good and friendly Pokemon.

My main example is Buizel; when wild it was the most fearsome Pokemon in the river area taking out trainer’s Pokemon singlehandedly. Then it took on Pikachu, Piplup and Glemeow without taking a break. It was certainly a Pokemon to be feared by one and all.

Then after being “tamed” under Dawn’s care the only real battle we see it in is the finals of the Tag Tournament but lost to Electabuzz and Chimchar. Then under Ash’s care…well it tied with Lucario in a good match and managed to beat 2 of Wake’s Pokemon even its evolved form. Then the mastering of Counter Shield got it a win at Fantina’s gym and beat Gastrodon in the league.

However, that is where the good times end…it got murdered against Byron and during the full battle with Paul not to mention the Mr. Mime incident.

Buizel reminds me of the Power Rangers; remember how the season starts off with 3 or 5 rangers then they add in another ranger that is evil for some reason and then when they are introduced they can kick the entire team’s ass without even trying, but when reformed they grow soft? Well that is what happens to wild and untamed Pokemon that turn good.

Then the movie Pokemon that can literally take on as many Poekmom as possible without breaking a sweat just Hyper Beaming everything in sight or using one attack to knock out opponents.

Pokemon like Mamoswine, Charizard, Primeape, Excadrill and others are like exceptions to the rule when they don’t obey their trainers they are out of control and powerful but have seen their share of losses but after obeying they get a grip on control but still lose from time to time.

So, how do you feel about it do Pokemon do better on their own or under the care or a trainer?

Civilization is effective therefore pokemon training is good when the trainer is competent

True, there are some Pokemon that are strong but need that special something to truly make them shine. You know those Pokemon that have power, but there is something missing whether it be speed increase or something like that and there maybe a trainer that can help with that.

It depends on the trainer. If you have a poor trainer i doubt a usually powerful pokemon would do very well in a battle. Because if they are tamed they have to do what the trainer says, and if they can't make good decisions then it doesn't matter how strong the pokemon is. Then there's someone like chimchar who was weak under one trainer (paul) , but obviously excelled very well with Ash.

Its all about compatibility I think, look at Ash's Snivy it left its previous trainer for unknown reasons but it probably has to do with it not thinking it was worthy like a Ninjask will not obey trainers that it does not deem fit to work with it. Guess Paul put his through some hectic training then.

Honestly speaking, how well a poke performs depends on his trainer's style..
I can give u 4 examples for this:
1)ash's chimchar/nape: Chimchar was already strong when paul caught it because his ability blaze activated whenever the situation was bad..
While paul's strategy was to force activate his pokemon's ability..
If u dont know what i mean look how he activates ursaring's guts by using contact moves on pikachu..
It is similiar to how competitive battlers use flame orbs to activate guts ie deliberate activation..
However chimchar was only able to activate blaze only when the situation was dire or he was angry..
This is a clear conflict of tactics which was the reason for constant friction between paul and chimchar and chimchar never getting to his full potential unlike how he did with ash..

2)buizel: It was pretty obvious that dawn's style and ambitions were never suited for someone like buizel while he performed pretty well with ash

3)ash's torkoal: Ash clearly prefers fast and highly mobile pokes for battling..
Therefore torkoal, while being powerfull keeps losing because its clear that torkoal's slow, defensive style isnt in sync with ash's style of battling..

4)ash's torterra: Yes, ash's turtwig was fast and mobile and performed decently till he evolved..
Again torterra's style of play is the same as torkoal and therefore torterra kept losing after his evolution because there is an obvious conflict in the style of play..

I hope i summed it up as well as i could..

True, the Pokemon decides what is best for itself in the long run no matter what the trainer thinks. There have been examples of Pokemon that do better on their own and Pokemon that do better with a trainer that understands their own unique form of training/battling.
