When ever team rocket thought about catching a pokemon they have a little scene that shows the boss doing somthing that meowth tells, when did these frist start and when did they end, i think they were most prominate in battle fronteer but i dont know

TR always had fantasies since way back in Season 1, but I think the first "real" boss fantasy that Meowth did happened sometime around late Johto.

I think it was somewhere around that Delibird episode in Johto that they started.

The Delibird episode was Dues and Don'ts, and the scenes in that episode weren't fantasies at all.

If I recall properly, it'd be Just Add Water Pokemon, since that was pretty much the first really disturbing boss fantasy.

I think the first episode with Meowth's boss fantasy sequence was in episode 241 (Vileplume and Bellossom). Though it could have been earlier. Since then, it has pretty much been a common running theme.

Because they realized it was funny to see a big, intimidating, villainous figure like Giovanni and have him do funny things like dream with a Gligar over his face.

Unfortunately, like most jokes in Pokemon, they found something humororus and decided to take it to the grave by repeating it 100x over.

IMO they stopped being funny when it became "Let's see how homoerotic these things can be."

IE, the Honey episode.

They've been getting moronically homoerotic since Hoenn, right? I remember some horrid Tarzan-esque fantasy or something... I'm trying to forget.

They really don't use the Boss Fantasy thing much in Sinnoh, do they? Which is good, since it overused to the point of insanity in Hoenn.

They were used in almost every episode back then. Sometimes twice in one episode, like in the Bagon ep.

Most of those fantasies only last for about 30-40 seconds, so its not like it takes up THAT much time from an episode.

I just figure the writers are lost with what to do with Meowth's character now, so they had to give Meowth this new "quirk" to keep him interesting.

Yeah, but then at least you got a cute, funny chibi boss fantasy to make up for it every once in a while.

And yeah, the Tarzan one was pretty... freaky.

BF/DP's boss fantasies all seem to be "let's make Giovanni half naked, or really gay, or surround him with phallic Pokemon, or all three at once".

Honestly, speaking as a Meowth fan... I'd love him just as much without that "quirk".

Boss' Fantasies were really Hoenn thing, but i believe Kecleon Caper had one (as a preview of new ideas, maybe?). I'll go and check.

Hmmm. . . the best I can remember the first time they did it was in the, "The Kecleon Caper", and it became a occasional joke for the rest of Johto.

It wasn't until Hoenn where it was used a regular gag, but in Sinnoh it's reverted back to being an occasional joke.

there was one is i politoad ya so! i think that was a first one

there has always been boss fanstasies but the ones with meowth saying them and narrating them was in sinnoh wich were the 'true' boss fantasies

I think there was one in Season 1, I think it was in Bye Bye Butterfree. Meowth was thinking as soon as the Boss saw how many Pokemon they'd captured, he'd be top cat again, and we saw Meowth with Giovanni, and Persian in the corner, or something.

Bye Bye Butterfree would be the very first. I think there was also a fantasy in the Ditto episode, but with Jessie and Meowth playing the roles of Giovanni and Persian, so I'm not sure that counts.

They didn't start being mindfucks till late Johto, though.

I think they also did them to keep Giovanni in peoples minds. Let's face it, Giovanni appears about once every 50 episodes.

Kids watching the show who never saw Kanto are probably wondering who this "boss" is, that TR always talk about.

Seeing Gio in Meowth's daydreams at least remind people who he is, especially since the real Giovanni rarely appears in the anime.
