When do you guys backup your system? I've noticed there are times when the forum's response time grinds almost to a halt. GMT will suffice.

If you mean the one that happened just now, that wasn't a backup. I'm not sure what that was.

Our backups are actually fairly seamless, so you shouldn't even notice them normally. The time varies between once a week and once a month, dependant really on people's availability, hard drive space, and available bandwidth. In recent times, it's usually been towards the latter end of that spectrum.

Elixant, our host, has been doing a significant amount of server work recently. It's probable that our burps were caused by that, as my personal site was experincing similar problems.

So, where is Elixant located? Today, I had another session where nothing happened. In fact, my connection timed out. I just want some idea of when they'll be working on the servers.

That may be so, but if I was running a host, I'd schedule upgrades for whenever the traffic is lowest ideally. More practically, I'd schedule them at night or early in the morning. Then it would be a 50/50 chance of upgrades being made in the early morning or late at night local time. So, where is Elixant physically located? Australia?

Damn Texans! They would do whatever they do during the evening hours of Pacific Coast time. Anything to screw up the Left Coast.
