Since BW001, the only pre-Gen V Pokemon we've seen, apart from the picture of Umbreon and Kabuto's fossil, are Ash's Pikachu, Meowth, and Giovanni's Persian. So, when do you think our beloved pre-Gen V Pokemon will come back?

I think they'll come back when they come back in the games, or after Ash wins/loses in the Unova league and the filler series begins.

Given the fact that all his traveling companions before have seen Ash's reserves..I'm sure it'll be the same case here. Though given the fact that the Hoenn Pokemon "starred" last time, it's probably Sinnoh's turn this time around. The Hoenn squad will probably just be seen chillin and looking cool. When he'll use them however, remains to be seen.

We'll probably see BlazeNape take down a Legendary just like Charizard and Sceptile before him, Gible will be there obviously so Iris can meet it, Torterra will appear to battle and lose, etc, etc.

Perhaps Gible could join Ash's group in the filler series, just like Phanpy joined Ash's team in Battle Frontier. Gible could evolve all the way to Garchomp, and then obviously Iris would like that a lot.

Ash'll give Gible away to her just to piss Wolverine off.

In all seriousness though, if/when Gible does appear I don't expect him to evolve all the way into a Garchomp, that just seems like to powerful a Pokemon for Ash to have? I don't know, maybe it's just me. I would love to see him evolve, but he's fine just the way he is too.

As for the Johto startes, well given that they were just kinda there last time aside from Quilava, and Heracross...I don't really expect them to get anything aside from a cameo.

Yeah, they won't show up until after the league. It'll depend on what happens afterwards since a lot of Unova'll still be unexplored. Ash's got enough Unova pokemon now to worry about than to already start bringing back in old guys. The Unova pokes need the development more.

It'll be good to see Infernape again, I don't care if people thought it was overused/slightly overpowered. He is probably one of Ash's best developed Pokemon, if not the best. Only question is, which Legendary will he take out?

Real question: Does your enjoyment of the show depend on the presence of the older pokemon?

My answer: No.

After the Unova League. Does that mean we'll see all the old characters as well? I believe so. The writers aren't that stupid...

Why would they be stupid if they don't show old characters? I assume that by that you mean someone else besides Oak and Tracey? I see no reason to see them if we get a lab episode, I would prefer they compensate us for not having one in Sinnoh and it being about Satoshi pokemons not old characters...

I would love 1/2 episodes to be passed at the lab.

During the Unova League. Ash will probably use some pre-Gen V Pokémon during his League battles.

I hope they don't anytime soon, as the lack of them is showing the point of Unova being far away from the other regions.
They probably will appear towards the end of the series.

Older pokemon doesnt have much chance of coming back in Unova unfortunately if anything than for sole reason how BW games and anime are trying to portray Unova as very far and isolated region from other regions Ash traveled through putting emphasize on it by there not existing wild older pokemon and very few references to Kanto and other regions.

I could see maybe(and thats a big if)Ash bringing some older pokemon for Unova league if situation calls for it(like he did for Johto and Sinnoh league),but if it doesnt than best chance of older pokemo being seen again would be during filler arc assuming there is any.

Considering how writers tend to bring more of older pokemon and things back during those arcs not depending so much on promotion of new pokemon like its case with main region i could see pokemon from gen I,II,III and IV making their return after BW.

Personally out of Ash pokemon i would like to see some more neglected ones like Kingler or Muk,Totodile, or Glalie.Although i would like to see Charizard again as well.

Why would they be stupid if they don't show old characters?

I think he meant it would be stupid if older characters gets erased completely from existence not being seen in person even after Unova ends.

Something with which i agree.

I presume the writers have by this point realize the hole they've written themselves into by starting the series off and excluding the old characters and pokemon. Eventually no matter what they do, old pokemon HAVE to appear since its an entire pokemon World, not just a region. So no matter what they did Ash's old pokemon were going to appear eventually. The same good be said for old characters. For Ash's old pokemon to even exist he would've had to have gone on his previous journies to catch them and that means he would've had to have met all his old friends.

Maybe when Ash and co reach the Village of Dragons (if that ever happens), Ash will suddenly remember that he has a dragon type, transfer Gible from Oak, which everyone will faun over it for a while, and then he'll Oak it again. But seriously, I doubt anyone will appear till after the league, since Ash is catching more reserves. The pace that this series is going, i could see there being a filler arc after the league, where his older pokes might get some screentime. Other than that no

Apparently not

They didn't write themselves into no hole, all the characters still exist, they aren't with Satoshi, just like Kenji then Kasumi stopped traveling with him, then Haruka and Masato, then Takeshi and Hikari...

They were shown recently in their specials, Kenji was mentioned too.

Its a diferent continent ingame so its a diferent continent in the anime, if you go to África you will see diferent animals compared to Asia... there are migratory animals but most of them have their natural habitats...

Isshu is Pokeamerican and the pokemons in Pokemamerica are diferent from the ones in Pokejapan, as for the characters i already said it, they aren't there just like it happened in previows region, they stopped traveling with him, if they eventually do an Oak lab episode one or two might appear, atleast Kenji/Shigeru and possibly Takeshi/Kasumi if for some reason they are close to there and know Satoshi will be coming back from traveling.

Let's stay on just the topic of the appearance of pre-Gen V Pokemon, shall we? Satoshi's past traveling companions and their possible appearances don't have much bearing on the appearance of pre-gen V 'mons.

All I need is Gible biting Shooti and blast him with Draco Meteor XD

Or have a returned Gible do a Draco Meteor in Unova and still manage to hit Piplup (sure, Gible did master it eventually, but don't let that ruin things).
