When if at all, will we get the Demo?

I thought there already was a thread on this but I've gone back 5 pages and couldn't find one.

We know the South Korean ratings board has given a classification for the demo, so that clearly implies it's coming. But when can this be?

Surely if the main game is coming Mid November the demo would be released in October. Indeed it came out October 15th for ORAS. That's only just over 3 weeks away, and we've been told we aren't getting anymore news until October 4th.

Is that really enough time? It'd be around 2 weeks from announcement to release which seems unlikely. Could they push it back into November, or are they going to drop it all together.

Just checked Serebii, the demo was revealed way before this period of time back in 2014!
 
I agree with @RainbowLifeAndLove. Somewhere around the 18-23 of October would work out best for the demo, as it would put it at a month before the game's general release. That would be a good way to promote the games and give fans something to chew on for a little bit. I do wonder what the demo will be like? Will it give us the same or similar benefits that the ORAS did (catching a late-game Pokemon, giving us extra items, etc)? Or will it be just a sample of what we're going to expect in SM and nothing more?
 
Hahaha Like the two above posts I agree that the demo will likely come out mid to late October. The ORAS demo started going out As soon as October 1st when they released it in some countries. For the most part however a lot of countries didn't get it until at the 18th. Either way I'd say the SuMo demo (if we even get one) coming out later in the month.Maybe we'll even get an announcement about it in the upcoming trailer on Oct 4th. I'd imagine that's when they'd want to first talk about it lol
 
We'll probably get it sometime around October. Releasing the demo a month before the actual games come out would work. Although, I'm more worried about how people will hack the demo to find out about the Pokedex, much like what happened with the OR/AS demo. That wasn't too bad given that it was a remake, but doing that with a new generation is going to be a huge spoiler for people.
 
Likely the late October reveal. Probably around the same time we get the Starter middle Evolutions.

Oh god that was the worst.... And even when people DID get the codes they didn't work for a lot of people and they had to send different codes out.....*sigh*....lol

This. I won't be able to access the demo on the E-Shop, but at least it'll be available to most of the public in a better way than codes.
 
Just have to hope this demo won't have any spoilers for the hackers to reveal. I don't get demos so I am patient enough for the full games.
 
I wonder if the demo will have stuff you can transfer to the actual game? Like the ORAS demo did. Like a rare Pokemon we can transfer, or items you get if you fulfill a certain amount of missions.

I'm guessing the slip up was because ORAS was their first home demo after years of having only special tour/convention/store demos.

Like with those you can pretty much leave everything in there. People aren't going to emediately dig through the rom and find out things about the full game because they can't. If they find a way to take the demo before the end of the tour or send back date (or whatever they do with demos now...system update maybe?) it would just look too suspicious.

So yeah, I would hope that they learnt their lesson since ORAS Special was sort of a test in the first place.

Perhaps bottle caps? Or those festival coins I've heard about that may be needed for purchasing clothing in game.
 
As much of a hassle as it was to get the OR/AS demo, I can see why they wouldn't just put it on the eShop right away. It would have caused quite a bit of traffic and made it difficult to get the games to launch. It would probably be even more risky to do that with the Sun/Moon demo given that it's a new generation and people would be really excited to see how it could play out. I'm just hoping that people aren't going to be able to find out the whole Pokedex from the demo. That's going to make it a lot harder to avoid spoilers and I've already tried to avoid the leak/rumor thread to avoid more spoilers.
 
I'm sorta mixed on the whole datamining possibility this time around.

On one hand, what happened with the ORAS demo was ridiculous despite me not caring about being spoiled. On the other hand however, it would potentially debunk so much of those rumors...

I imagine that we could see a demo between the 18th and 23rd as well, though I don't know how to feel about the possibility about it being datamined. It would be nice to see some rumors get debunked, but I don't want to know all the new Pokemon, new Alolan forms, and all the new Z-Moves.

What exactly got datamined when the ORAS demo was released?
