...the tough get going?

I never got it, either.

Anywho, I'm Tatch. If you try to argue with me about anything, I direct your attention to this simple formula:

My stubborn arrogance > Your logical statements

That's how it's gonna fly, more or less. I'm sure you'll get used to it. :3

We haven't gotten used to anyone else's before, but there's a first time for everything! Welcome to the Forums!

Well I'm gonna call you Aether. Hope that's not an issue, since I have no idea how to get that spiffy AE thing to appear.

Just an FYI, the "æ" old English letter makes a sound like "ee." So your name would be pronounced "eesa-heeter" more than likely, lol.

Welcome to the forums, Tatch. Annoying arrogance has a place in many discussions, but if you start (or participate in) flame wars, don't expect to be here long. :p

^ The more you know!

Woah woah woah, don't group me with flamers. I'm more of a debater, personally. Sides, the arrogance subsides once in a while, so it's not permanent. XP

And why did you type the "ae" thingy without answering the question of how to do it? ;o;

Lol. I cheated. I copied it off 'is name. :p

But if you want to know how to make it, you can do it in one of two ways (three if you count copying it off of existing text like I did, lol):

1. Character map. If you're on a windows machine, go to start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Character Map. On there, if you scroll down, you should find the characters you need:
æ and Æ

Simply double-click them and you can either select them and right click copy, or you can press the copy button.

2. ALT Codes.
Each of those characters has what's called an "ALT Code." What that means is that it's a sequence of character presses involving the ALT key that will produce that character. For æ, you would press ALT+0230. That means hold down the ALT key, and while holding it down, press the numbers 0,2,3,0 in order, then let the ALT key go. Voila!

These are the ALT codes for those characters:
æ (ALT+0230)
Æ (ALT+0198)

Tip: If you want to know the alt codes (if they exist) for any character, you can always go to the character map. It shows the alt code in the lower right corner. ;)

I read the entire thing, I was so happy, I was gonna type it in...but ALAS! My laptop is unequipped with a number pad. D8

Well in any event thanks for going through all that effort. When I'm on my desktop comp I'll make proficient use of this intel.

As in any word with an "a" or "e" will be completely twisted. 83;

Actually, the æ character is pronounced with the 'a' sound in the word 'ash.' In fact, the letter's name is Ash (familiar sounding, huh?)

Damnit, now I'm confused cause I thought it was pronounced "ey" as in "Hey". G'damnit, folks. D:

You know what? You're right. I just remembered that the author explains about his use of "æ" (in a foreword) saying that it was pronounced that way in the HDM trilogy (where my name is from.)
